This intro could have been transfererd to 2009 to Kobe Bryant. It was not right nor fair that Kobe lived in shaqs shadow in terms of winning a title. But that did not matter. He answered the challange at the age of 30.
Well in the late 80s to late 90s basketball really focused on the individual players. The stars were blamed on the teams losses. For example before Chicago won their first championship,a lot of people said that while Michael was a great player, he could win. Notice he couldn't win, no one considered that it wasn't his team that couldn't step up, they blamed him for the fact that they couldn't win. People didn't understand how a top player couldn't win a title. But Clyde would win a title later.
Clyde Drexler was one of many great players who were overshadowed by Jordan for many years, and it is a bit unfair because Jordan set the bar so high that most people will never reach what he did, yet still it is unfair to compare them to Jordan but I guess Jordan was the gold standard that everyone wanted to live up to but fell short, yet at the end of the day all anyone could ask for a player is to just play their game
the NBA needs Portland to be good. being a Huskers fan, I appreciate cities that rely on one singular team sportswise. San Antonio, Sacramento and Portland come to mind. I'm a Rockets fan, but I think the NBA could benefit from the Blazers being good again.
Plus, let me make this comment... the NBA and ABC/ESPN wonder why ratings are down. Show them this video. NBC and CBS knew how to market the league. They explained stories, instead of shoving players down the fan's throats via obsessive marketing.
Does anyone besides me miss these intros

Drexler, of course, would end up winning a championship with the Houston Rockets in 1995.
