I cant thank you enough for this! the only difference we have is that I have a 9600gt and you have 9800gt! I am overclocking my CPU ready for a gtx 460 hopefully soon! will you get a new card soon? :)
How do you tell if you can lower the voltage to reduce the energy bill? ;P presumably if the voltage is too low then the computer wont turn on?

So I have the same mobo and processor with corsair 2gb x 2 with a 750w powersupply and a evga 260gt sc. Does your pc run stable with the processor being overclocked that much? Im currently haveing problems with mine rebooting and Ive down clocked it to 2.5 was operating fine before at 3.1. Trying to figure out whats wrong?
No offense but even when you OCed it, it was pretty slow even though. Looks like my pc I built with Vista black edition though and loads at same pace as your but maybe a bit faster. But I love the tweaks that it offers.
I know. Its not a good overclock cauz sometimes even if its higher the real speed would not be as good. When I overclocked mine to 3.2 ghz 1:1 with mem. It booted up quick. All the apps loaded up at the same time LOL.
LOL, it sucks that OCing the cpu doesn't always tops the performance. But hey, if you have a great HD with low seek time and great latency with great timing on your RAM and mobo and all parts lol, than your pc should be great overall.
I'm making a build with the 790i FTW , or possibly 750i, using the q6600 as well, hopefully i get a G0, pretty common now.. Ive looked on the evga forums for the 7 series, and i see ALOT of problems, so thats making me think over my build a bit before it actually happens
Oh, in the end i decided to get a Q8200, (Regretting it HARD atm), and used the 40 bucks I had left over for an OCZ Vendetta cooler. I'm massively disappointed in the Q8200 and it's overclocking capabilities-or lack thereof. It's humming along at 2.8GHZ atm (400x7) with 1.25v on it... It can probably go further, but I don't want to stress my NB because at 1600fsb, its giving me around 60C already. The core Itself is also giving me REALLY bad temps, even with the Vendetta cooler, (44,40,55,55)
I might lap it and buy some arctic silver5, but I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make =/. The 790i I got is pretty nice, no crashes with AVI files, or gaming at all, but I do get some artifacts with SLi in crysis and cod5 =S Don't know if its the boards fault though
In COD5, everything is OK until the part where you come out in the boats. Second mission I believe. EVERYTHING is messed up, really similar to the symptoms of an overheating system, but Precision, Hardware Monitor, Rivatuner, Speedfan, all told me my system was running very cool. Artifacting also involves Crysis for some reason. Doesn't with Farcry2, so I am going to assume this is a driver issue and not a hardware issue xD. Running Vista 32bit, upgrading when i feel spendy xD.
Yep, that's I thought as well, however, neither of my cards artifacted in single card mode. I finally have Tri-Sli now, and I've yet to try it with COD5 yet. RUnning 182.50 ATM, and I don't notice the artifacts in Crysis anymore, at least.
If you get Crysis under control you should be good in any other game :-). As any enthusiast will tell you Crysis vs. ANY VIDEO CARD = fail. Just as a suggestion, why don't you sign up at overclock (dot) net? It's the best forum site for oc'ing I've ever been on. Lots of help resolving issues from video cards to oc's. Good luck.
Yeah, I signed up a bit back ;P Check out the For Sale section, people are letting GTX260's go for around 150 bucks. I bought mine new for around 280 CAD, and kicking myself right now ;P. Hoping to find myself a Q9550 on there for a nice price ;O seen people letting i7's go for 200 and QX9650's for 400
I want to see you running a Prime95 for 10 minutes only... I don´t beleave that's the Q6600 is able to stay ok for that last. I have the same Board, same Processor and same memory, pratically with the same configs and just be able to sustain 3.33GHz with sucess!
I am having some issues with heat as my CPU VID is 1.325!!!! Takes way too much voltage to keep this running at 3.6GHz. Now i'm running @ 3.4Ghz with OCZ800MHZ ram with tighter timing (CL5).
Will be building another system soon with the nforce 750i FTW and OCZ 1066MHz CL5 Memory.
This song is "Many Waters" by Caribbean Vybes in Dominica.
The original CPU cooler was replaced the with the ASUS Silent Knight II. I also have one 120mm fan blowing cool air from the front of the case and a 90mm fan sucking hot air from the case, directly from the head sink.
The plan is to upgrade the case to the something like the antec 1200 or similar.
anyone know the name of the song

i have the 750i FTW and got artifacts with SLI in COD5 also.....I doubt that its the board.
I'm running two 9800 GTX+ 512MB and windos 7 64 bit .
Under XP64 bit and SLI i did not get any artifacts....
What did you find?

Artifacts/screen tearing are from your video card not an unstable oc.
