Danny looked awesome here. He was short, but had unbelievable flowing lines, mass, and proportions. He should won the Olympia in 1981, but they gave it bow-legged sausageman Franco Columbo! What a waste.

@thehomefront "Columbo the best?" Not hardly. Lol! Maybe in 76, but in 81 he was in terrible shape. He legs were non-existant, golf-ball biceps, topped off with the worst gyno on Olympia stage. Have you seen the video footage or the photos? Where have you been the last 29 years? Hate to break it out to you, but that event was the worst Olympia decision in BB history! CBS refused to air it.

How do you know Danny was gay? Did he tell you?

if this is the case then the mr olympia aint worth a toss because its completely fixed, you then have to question all the other winners, i'm not disagreeing with you by the way. i've noticed by watching interviews of bodybuilders that have come in the top five of the olympia that they all believe they should of won it ,so maybe you always get this problem, what other bad decisions do you think there has been?

@thehomefront When you are judged in BB contest, the criteria should always be the same: Symmenty, size, shape, and proportion. Tell me where you thought that Franco should of won despite him not having any of these contributes. Sure there will always be debates on whether who should of won but rest assure--if you have done any type of research of the subject matter, this Olympia was the worst of all time. They have been others: 72, 80, 83, 2001, and 2007, comes to mind.

@thehomefront If your referring to 81 footage, it's quite hard to make out (since it was grainy), but gyno is definitely apparent. The still photos clearly show this much better--especially when he raised his arms up.

@thehomefront Franco was so bad that year, that even Arnold (his best friend) did not want him to enter. When Franco was declared the winner, Arnold laughed and laughed. He called the '81 Olympia "the greatest booing contest of all time," greater by far than that in Sydney the year before. But all he would say about the controversial judges' decision was, "I am very happy for Franco."

Padilla was the besy short bodybuilder since Freddy Ortiz...and with way better legs. Better v-shape than Franco and he easily beat the "mouse" Mohamed Makawwy in this event. Nice comeback after placing 2nd. in 1976. Would love to see Danny comeback and compete in some masters Pro shows.

Padilla had great symmetry and balance. Size, shape and v-taper. he easily beat "the mouse" Makkawy here but I wonder how he would have done against Mohamed in the shape he was in at the 1984 Olympia? "The Mouse" would have owned him. Sorry to here about the passing of Danny's father recently. My condolences to Danny and the Padilla family.
