I agree with the basic message this song attempts to deliver, but goodness me this video is very pro-religion. Religion is not a prerequisite for peace you know! Having said that, religions can coexist peacefully I have no doubt of this. Now as for abortion, I dont think it is a nice thing but why should we bring more unwanted children into this world? People are so obsessed with having more they forget to look after the ones we already have. And there are LOTS of them!

I don't like this montage....... although I'm sure it is perfect to the soul who put it together. Technically, atheist means not a theist, and does not mean a disbelief in god.
A is a latin root meaning "not". All theists are studiers of theism which is a system of belief. Religion is the word used to describe that system. Therefore, an atheist is actually a person whom is not for organized religion. The word has nothing to do with god nor do alot of religions although they profess to be.

I am not a christian, but I am a Yolngu australian aborigine (with a Jewish Father) and my people a reknowned for the way many of us blend Christianity and Dreaming( our own spiritual concept). I changed my account name. I do know, he's a Levi, but almost no jewish people know what tribe they are from. In fact the only remaining intact tribe is Levi. The Stolen generation refers to the aboriginal children who where stolen from their parents and trained for servitude in white soceity.

Again, it's more the secular-minded Jews who aren't even interested in their heritage, but not all, and I'm not even sure it's a majority either. Most of my friends who are Jewish live nearby in New York City and a good part of those are Hassidim or Orthodox. All but maybe 1/4 to 1/3 are aware of their tribal derivation. I know the rabbi of the largest Messianic congregation in the U.S. as well, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, and he can trace his lineage back a long way.

I understand that Jesus taught a peaceful message, but more people have been killed in the name of Jesus than any other single name. The bible has been used to justify atrocities such as slavery, and many christians believe that if you do not believe exactly as they do, you go to hell for eternity. I definitely agree it's a beautiful song, but it's neither myself nor any other Christian who "exploited" it to push an agenda. Rather, apparently the maker of the video did, in your view. Check the images throughout the video which I cited in my previous commentary on it. The fact murderers and, effectively, terrorists have done evil under a Christian banner in no sense diminishes either His truth or their own sin. Their rewards await them in eternity; don't worry about THAT.
and what about the contradictory quotes at the ending? "...peace[...]is not a gift from God. It is a gift only we can give one another" (Elie Wiesel) versus "no jesus. no peace. know jesus. know peace" (John 14:27) . anyway. i like most of the rest of the video.
The only way I can think to reconcile those two quotes is to point out that in both circumstances, it involves a CHOICE to abandon hatred and embrace love. Also, Elie is presumably a Jew still waiting for his Messiah, whereas St. John is a first-hand disciple of his (and my) Lord, Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Their respective quotes are given from that perspective.

No one can deny the facts of reality without taking leave of their own senses, that's true. I'm Christian and in no way sympathetic or amenable to the fundamentalist Islamic worl view. But the message and imagery of the song is beautiful in it's own right, and Cat Stevens DID write this before converting to Islam.
Matters only insofar as it reflects and flows from values he held prior to converting. If he still performs this song nowadays, or more importantly FEELS and BELIEVES what it's all about, it's IN SPITE of fundamentalist Islam and not BECAUSE of it. The images of Jesus welcoming someone into Heaven with an embrace...the quotation of John Paul II...the Statue of Liberty...the desire to fixate on what unites us rather than what divides us...isn't THAT what it's all about?

@ MrjMiro, all people typically have the right to choose about reproduction, wear a condom or use other means of birth control! Yes 99% of the time women should have a choice, rubber or not and they just want an easy way out of their problems, they should grow up and accept the choices they have made in there life. Rape and incest victims are exempt from that argument though.

I use to hate Cat Stevens because for what he stood for, being a muslim, I no longer feel that way, GOD wants us all to love us all, it is so easy to HATE, I will no longer hate, it is so much harder to love everyone and FORGIVE. Remember, only GOD judges, we have not right to judge.
For the record, I lost a very good friend on 9/11, I hated for a LONG time, it ate me up.

I was really enjoying this clip: the happy kids, the message of brotherhood & diversity & peace, the Atticus Finch quote from to 'To Kill a Mockingbird, ' but then, there's the picture of the Marines, so what are the Marines doing in a clip dedicated to peace, so that put me off a bit...and then, BOOM! -"Stop Abortion Now!" Technically, atheist means not a theist, and does not mean a disbelief in god.
A is a latin root meaning "not". All theists are studiers of theism which is a system of belief. Religion is the word used to describe that system. Therefore, an atheist is actually a person whom is not for organized religion. The word has nothing to do with god nor do alot of religions although they profess to be.

You are what you do; the songs certainly speaks for itself, but who created it? I am not a christian, but I am a Yolngu australian aborigine (with a Jewish Father) and my people a reknowned for the way many of us blend Christianity and Dreaming( our own spiritual concept). I was just frustated at the problems facing my people, and many here view the oppresive government as synonomous with Christianity beause the church played a significant role in the Stolen Generation.

I changed my account name. I do know, he's a Levi, but almost no jewish people know what tribe they are from. In fact the only remaining intact tribe is Levi. The Stolen generation refers to the aboriginal children who where stolen from their parents and trained for servitude in white soceity.

Very cool, the Levites were the "designated priests", you could say. Most of the observant (i.e., traditional) Jews I personally know are aware from what tribe their family descends, although I imagine there are many secular-minded who don't know & could care less. Again, it's more the secular-minded Jews who aren't even interested in their heritage, but not all, and I'm not even sure it's a majority either. Most of my friends who are Jewish live nearby in New York City and a good part of those are Hassidim or Orthodox. All but maybe 1/4 to 1/3 are aware of their tribal derivation. I know the rabbi of the largest Messianic congregation in the U.S. as well, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, and he can trace his lineage back a long way.

I understand that Jesus taught a peaceful message, but more people have been killed in the name of Jesus than any other single name. The bible has been used to justify atrocities such as slavery, and many christians believe that if you do not believe exactly as they do, you go to hell for eternity. I definitely agree it's a beautiful song, but it's neither myself nor any other Christian who "exploited" it to push an agenda. Rather, apparently the maker of the video did, in your view. Check the images throughout the video which I cited in my previous commentary on it. The fact murderers and, effectively, terrorists have done evil under a Christian banner in no sense diminishes either His truth or their own sin. Their rewards await them in eternity; don't worry about THAT.

The only way I can think to reconcile those two quotes is to point out that in both circumstances, it involves a CHOICE to abandon hatred and embrace love. Also, Elie is presumably a Jew still waiting for his Messiah, whereas St. John is a first-hand disciple of his (and my) Lord, Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Their respective quotes are given from that perspective.

If he still performs this song nowadays, or more importantly FEELS and BELIEVES what it's all about, it's IN SPITE of fundamentalist Islam and not BECAUSE of it. The images of Jesus welcoming someone into Heaven with an embrace...the quotation of John Paul II...the Statue of Liberty...the desire to fixate on what unites us rather than what divides us...isn't THAT what it's all about?

God IS omnipotent, and precisely because He is so, He's also eternally consistent with Himself. Thus when He stated that the life of the flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11) and that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin (Hebrews 9:22), there existed no other option, lest God make Himself a liar.
