Cartoons in the 80's and 90's in my opinion were in their prime, and at a golden age. We look back at them now and smile fond memories of the times that were, and the smiles they continue to bring. I worry what cartoons from the turn of the century and in this next decade will bring... There is such a lack for good animation anymore. =(

@MattTheUmbreon The 90's I agree is something of a golden age in cartooning, but the 80's, not so much. It had some good cartoons introduced like Superted, Inspector Gadget, etc. But a lot of the cartoons launched in the 80's were just licensed stuff, like Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles and stuff like that. The 90's and 2000's had some licensed cartoons too, but in the 80's, it seemed like every toy or game franchise needed a cartoon series.

The guys that made the cartoons those days, did it for the art. They did it to break the barriers of the comics, by adding animation & sound. They did it thinking about the drawing, thinking about making their OWN visual identity, their OWN voice. They did it referencing the first cartoons, and good movies. Nowadays, everything looks the same, that animeish look. Every cartoon must have a theme song. Every cartoon must have a hero. Because that SELLS. That's why it SUCKS. There's no heart to it.
