@5jtgarner Hi, it still looks great! No cracks or chipping. Next month I'll be in town to visit the house & I will make a follow up video to show how it looks & how well it has held up.
Wow! That is impressive. I have a question for you about the brick work as I am planning to do this on a patio. Your end result has slightly different shades of brick color (which looks awesome). How did you accomplish that? Did you make up 2 batches of concrete (red and buff) and blend them during the application process? That's the only way I can see to do it. Again, great job!
@Robohead521 Thank you! Yes I did mix the red & buff in separate buckets & layered them on..just like you described. The porch is still holding strong & looking nice too..I'm going to do a video real soon showing folks just how durable the surface of the porch is.
this so impressive! one heck of a worker! my first and only house was a hud home. did a lot of work on that house. it was a true money pit and i lost my @ss on it. now i was thinking of buying a duplex and having a renter i could monitor. what do you think? oh btw i like your music selection on this video!
@parkerdonald1 thanks! You're the 1st who said they like the music here! lol! I thought it was nice too..anyways, I have a rent house too..one I bought several years ago. Renting to someone can work out great..only if you're renter is reliable! Some people r pros at putting up a front about being trust worthy..I, personally, won't rent to anyone w/ bad credit or a criminal record.
You did an AWESOME job!!! Now will you just come over there and do that?! haha My porch needs some TLC. I've been working in the basement - did what you did with the cleaning and concrete down there then waterproofed it by hand. You did a great job and I"m glad you showed us how to do it step by step! Very helpful!
I'll teach you how to work on cars and trucks if you teach me how to do renos Shannon lol. I can build anything out of steel but when it comes to carpentry I suck.
@oSWORDofTRUTHo Hi Doc! Good to hear from ya! Thanks for the nice compliment! Well, I had a mask on while mixing the cement..I just didn't put an shots of that in the video.. I didn't know I needed a mask for wet cement?
It is dry before you mix it so that is good you wore a mask. The MSDA for the quickrete even states "Respirable crystalline silica (quartz) can cause silicosis". Solvents are also in the paint you used and in the liquid cement color. Obviously, we can deal with temporary exposures, but the people I work with have a lifetime of exposures like this, it all accumulates. Sounds like a downer, I know - but there are a lot of options to remove all of that lifetime of toxic accumulation :)
Love it!! Prep work is actually more important than the finish for long lasting results. Glad to see You took the time to do it right. I used to paint airforce jets and know prep is everything. That being said, I especially love it like 3:00 to about 3:30 in You are getting down like a front porch Picaso on a concrete canvas great job looks wonderfull. XOXO
@768Kayshan Oh yeah! I also know Picasso has 2 S's. I ain't much on "fancy book learn'n," and I'm pretty sure that My punctuations are not being used properly. Anyway, I was looking over what I had written and noticed an s was missing on Picasso, and and said let me add an 's' and hit send. What an as with "2 S's" ;))
@rgdspd1 well, why'd u have to tell me an S was missing..I didn't even notice that until u told me lol! Don't ever worry about your spelling or punctuations on this channel..I don't write perfect either! ;)
lol i'd pay to see that your welcome sweety. thinking bout making some videos on gun reviews in the future . When i do i'll hollar, have a great day girl
@BananaBlocker they sell em on the opposite side of the store from the banana's in a peel..gotta keep those 2 far apart from each other..for obvious reasons.
@TheCoroncachannel My fingertips got a little roughed up, but they are as good as new now..I didn't notice it burning, but the grit in the cement cut my fingers up a bit..this was a live & learn project! Thanks for watching & for your comment! :)
@Topmostpop That sounds very cool! If u open a new channel & make some DIY videos please let me know..I'd like to see them! Marble on a porch sounds gorgeous! And your kitchen project sounds very nice too..yes, w/ some creativity & a willingness to DIY a person can make a place look very nice & not have to spend thousands of dollars doing it.
Shannon, nothing short of beautiful and inspirational. Put to shame those guys who can't even hold up the right end of a hammer. You've got talent girl. ;)~
That looks damn good. Nice job. I know how to work on motors and mechanical stuff but your like me on the home improvement stuff, you learn as you go and it looks like you did a hell of a job. Looks real good.
@TheGovernmentslave yep..that about sums it up..& this project in particular is one I'll try to perfect even more in the future if it withstands the test of time & the elements. Thanks for your nice comment! :)
A very good job. I was sure impressed with that tape. Looks like you had a good $150-200 wrapped up in this job. Contractor would have charged triple that.
