  • WOW That ssd is fast...

  • this is a stupid video. who cares about the boot up times.

  • Sounds like a PS2 when it starts up. And the reason WHY Mac is faster than Windows is because it has less shit to compute.

  • @TheRedLuigi Sorry I meant in terms of startup speed should of been more clearer.

  • Nothing can beat os x as shown in this vid here :)

  • @gadgetboyash Sry, i cant see anywhere in this video that any OS beats anything.... We must have been watching a different video

  • @gadgetboyash Nothing? How come you guys still have crappy games and we can't fully customize that closet platform?

  • windows will be always the best . mac and linux suck dick

  • It takes longer to boot up and everything else for windows because its running windows over osx. Unlike with a real PC where you can actually divide a hdd or have two it more and have different os installed to it/them and run smoother than your Mac

  • @GX1XD1PD no...windows is installed on a separate partition not through a virtual machine

  • @GX1XD1PD dude the guy edited the vid. its two portions, not a VM, so u use all of the hardware u have. and u can customize the size of both partions (os x and windows) in disk utility in a sec.

  • @GX1XD1PD Your wrong, that is Partitioning the Hard Disk Booting windows AS NORMAL, iv emulated Windows and it sucks, me mac users can now run windows NATIVELY, Know this stuff before commenting.

  • @GX1XD1PD And boot time is irrelevant since I rarely boot my laptop. Perhaps you have to boot your OSX all the time.

  • your OS macbook air is a bit slow.

  • @MrCarmani12 that's all I learned from this video...

  • I love apple products and hate the OS

  • Macbook Air is the best!!!

  • why?!

  • Can u do so like u have mac os and Win 7 on one macbook?

  • @kasskristo Yes. Its called BootCamp.

  • just to note I can restart my 11" Air in just over 15 seconds, mac desktop back to a fully loaded mac desktop. Is there anyway to install via usb flash drive? I keep getting a 10gb min requirement error despite having far more available.

  • windows 7 did pretty well considering the Air isn't meant to run it

  • Windows 7 won in the boot up this time.

  • the thing is about the comparison between them is windows when its booted lodes for a bit more were as mac os x is pritty much ready to go when booted

  • 1 day ago when you are reading this do not stop or else something bad will happen!(sorry about this) this girl's name is Summer ,she is 15 years old and has blonde, many scares, and she has no ears. She is dead. If you dont copy this more than 5 videos, she will appear one dark quiete night when you are not expecting it beside your bedwith a nife and going to kill you. This is not a joke if you dont send this on 5 more videos something good will happen good to you

  • @michaelovesrh I call shenanigans.

  • I have a Acer Aspire One Netbook with windows 7 starter and a dell pc that ive had since 2005 that still works great tried the macbook air at best buy to expensive for my blood

  • Windows has won this match, all of this apple lovers should buy now bananas and realize that Apple is just for your arrogance and your ego. Peace out. Windows > all except Unix and Linux ...

  • Just to clarify something about ALL videos that has Mac vs Windows 7 boot speed up.

The main problem with this is the actual Boot camp or Apple's Intel Architecture which is not 100% optimized for the use of Windows, since it's firmware wasn't even compatible in the first place with Windows. Even after that there are some major speed slowdown with it.

  • Why does it take so long to turn on? Mine does OS X in 13 seconds...

  • my macbook air boots without cable in 7 seconds... ;)

  • can you show a tutorial how to put windows 7 in mac book air ?

  • @Germo97 That's not a PC, that's a Macintosh.

  • @chazcover Macintosh is a product, like Dell XPS or ASUS Aspire. PC means personal computer, it encompasses everything from an Alienware desktop to a MacBook air 11".

    Also, you're an idiot.

  • @TheKpow Just stfu, I didn't said nothing to you. No swear words moron.

  • Whoa. I am SO getting an SSD when I buy the MacBook Pro I'm saving for.

  • yup... i can boot in 10 sec.. why yours took a long time

  • Hey once you run bootcamp can you change your os back to mac?

  • @missyrayyo go to the control panel and find boot camp.

Click on startup disk and pick Snow Leopard.

    Restart

(If you want to pick each time without going to the control panel, install rEFIt, reboot twice, and you are done.

  • so what?? it doesnt make any difference if windows is a tad slower!!

  • this is like comparing apples and oranges

  • how do u put Windows 7 on MacBook Air?

  • hi nice vid, did u use the official mac superdrive to instal windows 7 in boot camp, or did an external cd/dvd drive work?

  • speech less... :)

  • lol it looks like it has a black besel from that angle.

  • too slow on OSX. cold start on mine was like 12secs only..

  • it looked like a macbook pro in the shadow xD

  • @jack390 Good eye. Actually I have no idea how you gleamed that.

  • does aero work in windows?

  • @bmw2go11 Yes once the drivers are installed no problems.

  • hey u think u can do a tutorial on how to boot camp? thanks

  • hey mate, can you do a video of it running windows 7, and opening word documents, surfing the web, pdfs, powerpoint, playing videos, using multiple applications. just wonder how it works in real world situation. cheers

  • How do you right click when in Win7? Does two-finger-tapping work? -- I haven't had a mac for 10 years, but I would really prefer to use Win7. I drool over the MBA though. Thank you for giving me hope!

  • @Varghjarta

yes, right clicking works in windows

  • there is something wrong with your macbook air mate because I can boot the new macbook air in 14 seconds.

  • @pkerry12 Apparently there is some sort of SSD caching going on. When I made this video it was maybe the 3 or 4th boot up. Apparently after several boots (not sure how many) Mac OS X boot times drop dramatically into the 15 second range. I did a second cold boot video which shows this.

  • @ai42 Great Vid. I'm having huge problems putting Windows 7 on my late 2010 macbook air. Can you replay the steps you took to get it on your machine? Thanks.

  • @deshonlive hey I have a video on how to install windows 7 on Mac... just search for it on my channel or visit thetigertek website

  • @pkerry12 hah i can boot it in 8 seconds

  • slow boot considiering my compaq boots windows 7 in 30 seconds flatout

  • @girlsdrinkfeck boot time is always recorded after the bios posts. i highly doubt your compaq can boot faster.. unless, you have a decent ssd.

  • how did you install it? did you buy the superdrive for the air? i don't wanna buy the superdrive but i want win7 on my air, couldn't find any win7 comes in a usb :(

  • windows in the new macbook air?????

    sacrilege¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Soo... is the windows part of the MacBook Air fully functional, like can it run windows games? Like GTA iV or GTA SA?

  • @SilveradoNation01 I hope you're not serious. at 1.4 GHz it could maybe handle low settings GTA SA but GTAIV, really? My PC with an ATI 5870has trouble with that sometimes.

  • Has anyone had trouble with New MacBook Air in Boot Camp windows 7 witht eh screen brightness controls? Mine don't work at all.

  • @hitekceo1947 did you install the drivers?

  • A nice to know video. Thanks!

  • running windows on a macbook is like extracting someone's lost and broken soul and putting it into a wonderful and perfectly working body. that wouldnt work either...

  • @Clipster15

Nope, I'm comparing apple to apple 11.6 mba

  • Do you know how the battery life compares in Windows 7? Also, were there any things that didn't work quite as right? e.g. drivers for some specific hardware or keyboard buttons, etc. I'm considering getting one and would be interested in knowing before I take the plunge.

  • @shammabeth can't really say I've used it on Windows much to give you accurate battery life. But on the estimated number it appears about the same as the Apple estimation.

No issues at all with hardware/buttons etc. The supplied Boot Camp Driver CD took care of all of that.

  • @ai42 Ahh ok , i work with win 7 and i need a ultraportable notebook , and mb air is perfekt . But i dont can work with osx.

  • Hi, that is strange, I saw another video which showing 15 secs cold boot time to OSX, but that one is 128GB SSD instead of ur 64GB. Will it be a chance that Apple use RAID 0 for 128gb config?

  • @ericchoi I think something that that is occurring. When I was playing with one at the Apple Store the boot up time was definitely faster and the store had 128GB models.

  • @ericchoi If that's the 13.3" your talking about, it also has a faster processor.

  • hahhaa in your face , windows is faster XDDDD i will buy the 13" Air , with ONLY Windows 7 as OS

  • @addy02200

Not sure where you are seeing this but I went back to my source and measured each action out to the tenth of a second and here are the results. By no means is it terrible for Windows but it isn't faster.

    Mac OS X Boot = 31 Seconds

    Windows 7 Boot = 37 Seconds

    Mac OS X Sleep = 0.3 Seconds

    Mac OS X Wake = 1.6 Seconds

    Windows Sleep = 1.6 Seconds

    Windows Wake = 4.1 Seconds

    Mac OS X Shutdown = 1.6 Seconds

    Windows Shutdown = 5.7 Seconds

  • @ai42 How much room is left on the stock 64gb after osx, ilife, and win7?

  • @mglennford about 27GB free. I did the minimum install of Win 7 @ 20GB. I intend to use this machine for presentations so I tend to do it on the Mac side most of the time but occasionally I'll need Windows for something. 98% of what I do is web so that is why I opted for the 64GB model.

  • @addy02200 LMFAO ur retarded then theres not point to buy a mac if your only gona have windows on it hahahahahaha. Unless u just want the portiblity its better to buy an actually POC

  • id like to know aswell

  • Hey, how did you install Windows on that thing? I'm planning on buying the 11.6 MacBook Air sometime next week and really want Windows 7 on it.

  • @rowelle Using Apple Boot Camp. All the Intel macs for the last several years has supported this. It was no problem at all getting it installed. I know there are some questions out there as far as how to do this via flash drive or remote disc but I didn't attempt it this way and used an external usb dvd drive.

  • @ai42 Ah, okay. Was wondering if you did it the other way cuz I don't really understand the whole wireless way to install it.
