  • the oculus lens is definitely the clearest of the 4 in all modes but suffers from vignetting.. the blur fix is alse very clear

  • there isnt any need for a focus fix...because most people dont even bother to put the Quality to a high quality and get a clear visual...

  • Thank you very much for this but I've got a question about the filter, what would be the best filter in a pool?

  • @Crw1111 Pools are very shallow so a clear filter wont be too bad but you could try a shallow water cyan filter if you don't like things getting too blue in the distance. A filter will only work well in an outdoor pool though as they are designed to work with good amounts of natural light and may not be as effective in artificial lighting of indoor pools and the gopro struggles indoors for light as it is so you don't want to take any of it away.

  • Nice idea for a video

  • anyone want to buy a brand new gopro 2 outdoor? its never been opened.. asking $300

  • AMAZING. thank you! Although I do have some questions, do the flat lenses help with above land activities? And can the lenses take impact like the stock lense for something like paintball? Please reply, and again, thank you!

  • @jonathanmanh Thanks, They can help above water you can check my channel for some recent videos with circular polarizing filters. You could use any other low profile 55mm filters for other effects but any that aren't as thin as those sold by SRP will vignette in 170fov modes.

Regarding the paintball I cant answer that but you could always try some cheap filters there, I wouldn't personally use any filters more expensive then the stock replacements for the gopro housing.

  • look like any flat lens will do the job pretty well.

  • @ermaclob any flat lens will correct the focus issue, only the EOM and Blurfix will give vignette free wide 170 fov though and the Blurfix is the simplest to use with colour correction filters.

  • @martcerv Blurfix it is then!! thanks for pointing that out.

  • Thanks this was incredibly useful. I am going to Hawaii next month and want to video while I'm snorkeling. Planning to buy the hero 2 and one of the lens' you show here. Do I need any addiitonal accessories like lighting or at snorkel depths in a place like hawaii is the go pro 2's low light handling adequate?

  • @maxjanasik Lighting is not needed for snorkel depth, underwater video lights are very expensive for the small benefit they give in daylight dives. The HD1 is fine with a decent amount of sunlight down to 30m or more so the HD2 wont be any worse and should be better but I haven't tried one yet.

You will need some method to eliminate fogging inside the housing which can occur when going UW, the water cools the outside of the housing causing the inside to fog. Test your gear before the trip too

  • i'm glad you made this vide, I will get red filter when I go snorkeling in florida again

  • @micbergsma Snorkeling depth the filter works well you will just need to do a software white balance if your too shallow as it will be too red for the first few meters. I use colorista 2 plugin with adobe premiere which works very well but Im sure there's others that should do the same thing. There is also a shallow water CY filter which is designed for the shallow water stuff if your not looking at going beyond 15ft it lets in a bit more light and wont need much correction in shallower water.

  • @martcerv thank you!

  • @micbergsma No worries Mitch :) Im just finalizing a similar video with the HD1 and HD2 atm which should be up in the next day or 2.

  • @martcerv cool! I just sold my two Hero1s... going to get two new Hero2s!! My blurfix lens is having fun in Puerto Rico this week with my friend, I loan it to him... ha :)

  • Hi ! Thanks for the great video, i definitely choose the blurfix. I have one question, is the blurfix useful above water ???

  • @VadeProductions Above water it can still be used well and allows use for circular polarizing filters or any others if they are low profile 55mm filters. I have recently got some CP filters which I will be using in some videos very soon to show how they work.

  • What is the best resolutions for the Oculus R5, because I hate the corners on the video (I have that lens)

  • @CrazyHobbyKing The Oculus r5 is vignette free in only r5 1080P with the orignal gopro HD.

  • @martcerv thank you! ;) Because I made ugly video in my holiday and I thought it would be nice. But later I saw on the computer that it was ugly ;p (sorry for my bad english)

  • best comparison video out there! thank you!! definitely going with the blurfix ;)

  • @Tarzan07330 Thanks and its still easily the best solution out there and will work just as well with the new HD hero2 which I will do a little comparison test of once I get mine.

  • @martcerv i was wondering that. i have the hd hero, but definitely want to get a hero 2. with the new changes, should be much more user friendly. i'll probably use my hero 2 for scuba and freediving, then continue to beat up my original hd hero in motocross and downhill skating. haha

  • Awesome video man !! i have a question , i dont really know alot about the add-ons and modes alot .. but i want to buy one real soon , the gopro naked , and as i can see that the last one the SRP is the best !! but do i still need to change the stock lense which is round to a flat lense before putting the SRP ? Thanks in advance man , Cheers

  • @g9893 The SRP blurfix is mounted onto the gopro housing and the original round lens is still used. You then screw the filter into the adapter which gives you the flat lens focus fix. Replacing the stock round lens with a flat lens causes vignetting to occur like can be seen here with the oculus r5 lens. That's the reason the larger diameter fixes like the Blurfix and EOM have no corner vignetting in the other video modes that the oculus and all other drop in replacement fixes have.

  • where you can get the SRP blurfix

  • @bygoran I will post a link at the bottom of the description as it wont let me do it here

  • Wow!

    Amazing!

    Awesome!

Did I make my impression of your comparison video clear?

Is that Final Cut that you used for the edit work?

  • @dlopez8a thanks

I use adobe premiere pro cs5 for editing

  • awesome test! thank you dude!!!

can I ask you something? what is those white balls inside the last goprohousing?

Also what lens do you advice me to have?

  • @6mimis The last housing is the SRP blurfix and the white balls are desiccant balls which prevent the small air chamber behind the flat lens from fogging up. I personally think the blurfix is the best solution atm and its what I have been using since it came out. I did use the EOM for around 6 months and it is the next best solution IMHO but the screw in filter design and glass lenses of the blurfix are what makes it stand out from the others.

  • Yes ive had no issues with the SRP and took it down to 40m on my current trip in thailand, will post some videos in the next few weeks once I sort through the hours of video lol.

  • are you still recommending SRP?

  • which is the best?

  • Great Video !! Thank you!!!

  • Very cool comparison! I can tell you put a lot of time on this! Thanks!

  • Great Test! Thanks!!!

  • so it is great, thank you

  • @sigi5311 thanks
