Thanks for this post. I first heard the Beatles on a shortwave my brother repaired. This was September '63. I hadn't seen any pictures of them and knew nothing about the Mods versus Rockers divide. I just liked them right off. Even though within a year I was a much bigger Stones/Kinks fan myself. Doubtless that's my blue collar showing. But I have to say I liked the changes they made away from that 'Public School Boy' cutesy band, which was only 100% true of them at the beginning.

I was never that sold on the Beatles. I do like a lot of their songs but I prefered the Animals, Stones and Kinks etc. Being a sluggo, I thought the Beatles were a bit girlie. LOL
