  • i am having very hard life right now, some times i need to cry to feel calm, i dont understand this song, but this music always makes me cry, god i love it very very much

  • One's favorite version of this is definitely a matter of opinion, but if you only know this one, check out Noel Harrison's version and Barbara Streisand's--they pretty much run the gamut in terms of possible tempos, unless you want to count Sting's dirgeful interpretation.

  • @charda01 Noel Harrison's version is more spoken than sung; it's chanted in his characteristic matter-of-fact tone. Streisand's version is filled with the technique of false melodrama, as the rest of her stuff has been since she made "The Way We Were."

  • Such beauty. There will never be another like her

  • I was watching the film 'Scandal' and DS sings the song by the same name at the end which is fantastic. Her music is also amazing on The Thomas Crowne Affair.

  • This song is beautiful.

And wasn't this in the movie Breakfast on Pluto?

  • @iamshunpike yes it was! :)

  • Good To Hear The Voice Again

  • Thanks Thierry Legrand for Les moulins de mon coeur <3

  • i wish acker bilks clarinet version was on youtube :(

  • Just love Dusty...bless! R.I.P.

  • i dont understand english much but this song made me cry

  • @mehdi1781 don't worry, the lyrics are kinda weird. good music, and a beautiful voice can overcome weird lyrics

  • <3<3<3

  • as compare to the original Noel's version, its Nothing.

the original one's is raw, natural, unpretentious and very very pure

  • @KateSingSpirit Me too !!!!!

  • awesome...i just love it...i was serching for this song for 2 whole years !! i heard it once at a tv serie and from then i loved it.......like for this incredible song ! <3

  • See the dislike bar? Yeah, me neither.

  • I LOVE her version of this. Actually, I like Dusty Springfield in general. She had a "smoky" voice and could sing almost everything. Another one was "Karen Carpenter". She wasn't as traditionally a "soulful" as Dusty, but she had a rather amazing voice, too...

  • I think many modern female singers could learn much from Dusty.

Where did modern music go wrong?

  • There's good, there's great and there's Dusty!

  • Well I once saw a version of this song by a bunch of muppets on 'The Muppet Show' where it got faster and faster ...... That ruined this song for me I'm afraid :(

  • Her voice...there's just something so sensual, sexy, ...so cool about it.

  • google on "therevolvinginternet" and this song will play when the google browser spins around in circles

  • @loliver231 That's what brought me here

  • listening to this makes me feel like i'm in some 1960's james bond spy epic. good song to go strolling thru caesars palace casino to.

i often imagine someone looking like dusty or someone having big hair singing this song to me.

  • Hi everybody you can listing to the Arabic version in the sound of The Lebanese Star "Hiba Tawaji" - la bidaye w la nihaye" - No begging No Ending...

She sings in Arabic, English and French. She's wonderful

  • @TalalAlameddine :La Bidayi Wala Nihayi - Hiba Tawaji

  • I love this version so much... Dusty <3<3<3

  • Dusty's face looks as if it's moving.

  • @93MacAttack Wow, you're right! That's cool

  • I miss you, Dusty.

  • It's beautiful, its too bad theres not much music like this around.

  • Haunting Dusty vocal is brilliant throughout "The Windmills Of Your Mind" & another tremendous performance "Love Me By Name" takes you inside her soul and the passionate plea is mesmerizing & memorable...nobody can nail a classic quite like Dusty Springfield...RIP sweet soulful lady, you are missed!

  • Did Winehouse do this...she did Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and We fall hard man.

  • Dusty in Memphis is such an incredible album....I finally found it on CD a few years back....absolutely classic collection of songs.

  • a timeless classic by a timeless classic

  • very nice :)

  • The castanets are a nice touch. Castanets + Spanish guitar = 1969 (of course).

  • Sound nice but scary because found out it was an old woman singing.

  • People will be discovering and re-discovering Dusty Springfield's version of this elliptical song for another hundred years.

  • @unclealand "elliptical"--that's good

  • This is perfect, Dusty! You were amazing.

  • This is brilliant....Just left my hat....Thanks!

  • Like an Edo garden sprawling

    With no pavillion in sight

Like an aching voice that's calling

In the forgotten drift of night

  • Love the haunting quality of this timeless classic & "The Windmills Of Your Mind" by anyone but Dusty doesn't make it...smokey then soaring, Dusty nails this great song with a performance this is one of the greatest ever vocals matched by an amazing arrangement & guitarist is brilliant like Dusty...Bravo!!!

  • gives me tingles

  • Goosebumps....

  • That incredible sultry, soulful voice. Another incredible loss for all of us.

  • Awesome vocal and musical talents . Haunting song for sure .

  • Big L is the reason I'm here. Hip-Hop is deeper that ya'll think.

  • A great song combined with a great singing voice is just magic - over and over again, we all have to spread the knowledge of these songs by great artists. Thank you Revolving Internet to bring new people to this performance!

  • french song from Michel Legrand

  • Nice :)

  • when i went to the revolving internet my mom and i heard the song, and she said she hasnt listened to it in years, so she told me to look it up. now im here because of it. thanks revolving internet-_-

  • sounds like a james bond theme to me.

  • finally i find the right version from revolving internet lol I love her voice in this I shall explore more of her music :)

  • Mesmerizing vocal magic from soulful Diva Dusty Springfield, going deep inside "The Windmills Of You Mind", the amazing singer twists and turns that glorious silky soulful voice through the awesome arrangement making this timeless classic her own...Bravo Dusty & RIP

  • She really made this her own...

  • It's amazing how melancholic and sexy this song can be

  • Dusty Springfield in a Southern town singing a French Composer's great music! I love it! And, yes - her timing was excellent - because she wasn't trying to "show her technique" - she was SINGING about a relationship and how it evolves because, from the subject of the song is singing about "finding out how her lover thinks"!

  • FURIOUS ANGER INSTRUMENTAL SENT ME HERE.

  • BIG L

  • One of the great albums of the 60s.

  • Ah, this song is very beautiful :)

  • CONRADO Y PATRICIA

  • Greatest female singer,That the U.K. had ever produced. R.I.P.

    Damian Molloy(UK)

  • This is as good as it gets! The voice and the arrangement are perfect. This is how music is supposed to sound.

That voice is haunting (in a good way).

  • θεε μου τι φωνη...

  • Her intonation is really different... edgy.... cool.

  • @pickeljuice12 ME AS WELL LOL

  • The best vocal performance I've ever heard.

  • name a song she didn't well

  • this is great! BUT. the Michel Legrand version where he scat's and plays piano is phenomenal!

  • wow ur voice is just magical

  • The Bergmans write incredible words but an artist must make them come to life. This is the finest example of that that I have ever heard. Perfect!

  • There must be thounsands of versions on this one but Miss Springfield's STANDS OUT! Imaginative arrangement, amazing tempos play and outstanding vocal performance: precise and controlled. It sounds fresh and contemporary. Ahead of its time !

  • Best version ever!!!! Still gives me the chills and brings tears to my eyes each time I hear it. Thanks Dusty.

  • BEST version of this song I've ever heard! Love Dusty!

  • Dusty was not the original singer of this song from the movie but she sang it like a love song the way Michel Legrand and the Bergmans wrote it as intended it to be, IMHO. That's the reason why her version became the most loved. The Dusty loving touch is all over the song. For the 13 dislikes....they must prefer listening to the wind!

  • Dusty could do anything! Sadly lost way too soon...

  • Dusty's version of this song is the one most people remember and for a good reason - it's brilliant. She captures the elegence and the sense of lost and longing contained within the lyrics.

The tempo is also perfect. Soft and slow then building to a faster and faster pace - all the while never losing it's emotional impact. Her vocals are also perfect. Sweet, dream like and haunting.

In short, she makes you feel every note and word of this classic song.

    Incredible

  • @woohooboy Love this song and Dusty S. Where have the voices like that gone? And your "review" is perfect. You could make a living doing that...

  • @woohooboy What a great, thoughtful comment. I totally agree with your take on Dusty's version of this classic song.

  • Oh Dusty! I miss you!

  • just great

  • @XxslitwristsxX 13 TONE DEAF IDIOTS.

  • WHO. THE. HELL. DISLIKED. THIS. SONG.

  • I'm here because of "The Revolving Internet"

  • @Sabby9000

Same here - and it's BRILLIANT! I listen to this song now on a regular basis. It puts me in a 'nice place' very often. I found out it was from The Thomas Crown Affair - the original - not the remake. Good movie!

  • Wasn't this a Lil Shy'Heim jt????

  • classic - i miss you Dusty

  • thank you, therevolvinginternet!! This song is so calming *____*

  • i love hip hop, big l , Notorious B.I.G, and many other 90's Mc's love rakim and djing.

But when I listened to this song it gave me a really powerful feel to it. I love this song and even though I am a hip hop head, I love Dusty Springfield mad respect.

  • @TheDiece big l sampled this song once

  • Great rendition of an iconic '60's song. Brings back memories of being in my jammies curled up by the console stereo hearing this song, being one of the first "grown-up" songs I liked.

  • There's a great NEW book on Dusty: 'The Invention of Dusty Springfield - Scenes From a BritPop Icon'. It's a fun read and a tribute to 'our' Dusty. Available on Amazon.com.

  • This soung is Amazing.

  • watch?v=DnKoZq4iVtY

  • Dusty Springfield

  • @saxmasta

    Stumbleupon :'DDD

  • brilliant

  • Dusty Springfield was wonderful.

  • Wow! Her voice is so soothing.

  • wonderful

  • for some reason this remind me of that song end of the world.. <3 it

  • probably my favourite cover of this song.

  • /notes-dot-tarakanov-dot-net/cinema-dot-htm - here is your sheet. if you can't find, just seek for "windmills of your mind" at the page and you will be able to download piano sheet for this song in pdf format for free:) next time if you can't find some sheet, write in google in Russian: "name-of-song ноты" and you will find everything:))

  • if you need any sheet and can't find, look for it at Russian sites, Russians always have everything you need for free:)

  • Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for this song? I can't find it anywhere :(

  • SHIVERS : Up and down my spine!

    Beautiful song ; magical sound!

  • best version ever!

  • great intro!

  • My two favorite versions of this song is Dusty Springfield & Vanilla Fudge for two different reasons Dusty's is sweet & passionate and Fudge's is just plain different.

  • Beautiful version. There is such a delightful, sad quality to her voice. Almost like an older cousin of Karen Carpenter or Anne Murray, and I know both 70's singers admired Dusty Springfield. I wish Karen had done more of these types of songs....

  • 11 people were caught within a revolving door, like a roundabout caught in second gear like the circles that you find.

  • Dusty was one of the greatest British female singers of all time. Such a beautiul voice. Sadly missed.

  • After listinin this track listen to Tujhe Chahoon Har Pal ( Dastak )..... totally copied...

  • Noel Harrison? Painful. This song fits Dusty perfectly.

  • @JonFrumTheFirst I think the song is meant to have a painful feel to it... as though his memories have an uncomfortable layer. Dusty's a legend, but I think she makes it too happy/comfortable/nice.

  • Great singer but an awful version. This is not a song for a jazz club it's an interpretation of a relationship and that is totally lost. Sorry it has to be Noel Harrison every time.

  • @musodavid your bad at life

  • The world is like an apple swirling silently in space. ...Like the circles that you find in The Windmills Of Your Mind! ...Like a tunnel that you follow to a tunnel of its own... Down a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shone... Why did summer go so quickly? ... Lovers walk along a shore and leave their footprints in the sand. ...When you knew that it was over you were suddenly aware... That the autumn leaves were turning to the colour of her hair!

    I love solitude!

  • @kazu12992 'whirling silently in space' , to get the lyric right. Of course, it depends how much importance you attach to the lyric...Just as well you love solitude.

  • Epic. Dusty Springfield. Who comes close to this talented women? The most lovely, and beautiful vocalists.

  • This song is haunting but in an amazing way :)

  • Though I adore Petula Clark's version, Dusty pretty much nails this one.

Such a loss-thank god we'll always have her beautiful music.

  • Dusty was A 1.

  • i like noel's version better

    tho she can sing

  • It's a great song sung by a great singer, but I do not like this cocktail lounge style arrangement.

  • You say lady gaga, i say Led Zeppelin

You say hannah montana, i say AC\DC

You say owl city, i say Deep Purple

You say jonas brothers, i say The Rolling Stones

You say justin bieber, i say Queen

You say taylor swift, i say Guns & Roses.

95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop songs over and over. if your one of the 5% left who still listen to real music, thunb this up, then copy and paste it to t least 5 video's. DONT LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK AND ROLL DIE :)

    ma

  • @MANUTDJG lol nice man

  • @MANUTDJG tell me where you got that ridiculous statistic from and i MIGHT thumb it up

  • @Malet89 copy and paste but i think its true

  • @MANUTDJG What kind of nutter goes from song to song posting the exact same thing? I just saw this same post on another page.

  • @MANUTDJG I'd rather spend a night with Taylor Swift than Gn'R

  • @MANUTDJG Some people don't like rock music. Get used to it. Reposting the same thing on every page (and yet nobody has yet corrected the grammatical errors) will not change anything.

Dusty was more like Taylor Swift than G'n'R so this post is pretty irrelevant anyway.

  • Amazing version

  • Beautiful--haunting---both singer and song.

  • Big L - Furious Anger

  • The note Dusty hits 2:19 still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up...........outrageously the best!

  • not a bad version but i prefer alison moyets version

  • @vic00067 what!!!!!

  • i can't believe none of the "big" production companies at that time (BBC, Warner, Columbia, etc) none of them organized/set up and recorded a live / video of this song with her singing this song. .. and now she's dead! A SHAME!

they only have now legal "representatives" coming on YT posting threatening emails about copyrights violations, those guardians of the temple made of ashes has no respect for the memory of such artists

  • No one has ever topped this performance. Something about the timbre of her voice adds a certain je ne sais quoi.

  • She understood something profound about timing. Listen to the Noel Harrison and Matt Munro versions of this song and hear how they subvert the inherent drama of the piece by singing it too damn fast. Dusty slowed it down and mined far deeper the lode of mysterious ennui that Michel Legrand built into "The Windmills of Your Mind."

  • @hookalakah Would you agree that Jose Feliciano uses timing well in his cover? I'd say his own distinctive style suits the mood of this song quite well :)

  • @SpoookiePoookie NO I don't agree. Although I love Jose, I think he forces it a bit. I totally agree with Chewfish. This is as it was intended and it lets the words resonate and pulsate. Listen to it over and over. It seems to never "finish". I think an intended result by the Bergmans. They are incredible wordsmiths but not for the average. They are as deep as one can get. Dusty mines those depths unbelievably.

  • @nh1942 Yeah? Well, I completely agree with you on what Dusty brings to the song. I do feel however, that this is one of Jose's less overdone covers, and that he hasn't got carried away with his vocal prowess as he sometimes tends to do. I thought he kepts the runs at a more minimal level than usual. And his voice takes on more shades of light and dark, with the right blend of pauses and extensions, subtlety and pathos.

  • @nh1942 (Damned character restriction.) I was saying- maybe it has something to do with when I first heard the Jose version. For me, it comes loaded with an atmosphere of memories that really lends its own flavour to the song. Ah well. Differences will abound, as long as everyone appreciates the beauty of the original, it's cool. Dusty's ethereal touch is inimitable, and has a way of getting under your skin and staying there. No doubt it'll remain the first version for everyone who's heard it..

  • @hookalakah Very well put! She really tells the story and and paints the picture, she takes her time to let the emotions shine through.....

  • I actually heard this on breakfast at pluto trailer and thought it was amazing!

  • @Sakiera423 I agree with you.

  • @Sakiera423 I agree with you.And I like breakfast at pluto ,it was amazing too !

  • hallo María

  • hallo maria

  • Memorial piece.

  • Dusty owns this one.

  • The singer in the movie was, i think, Noel Harrison

  • I love this song. The imagery is SO 1960's - sort of like "easy listenig music to take dmood-altering drugs by"...

  • Always loved the soft, haunting, husky quality of Dusty Springfield's voice. Her version of this song (and the superlatively sexy "The Look of Love") are my eternal favorites of her songs. I really prefer this rendition to the Noel Harrison original used in the opening credits of the original film and have always wished her vocal was used instead of Harrison's. Love the acoustic guitar on this track as well.

  • Beautiful Song, Thanks Dusty For All The Memories.

  • Dusty Springfield's rendition of this song is my favorite. The seven people who said that they don't like it must be musically challenged as the late Ms. Springfield was one of the greatest singers of our time. I was really saddened when she passed away in 1999 from cancer. Anyone who doubts her greatness should look her up on Wikipedia.
