Very nice, I loved it. I am a harpsichordist...and I have never played a Spinet....is the touch different? Is the mechanics of the instrument different, or the same? I don't know much about spinets, although I know they are related to the harpsichord and sound similar. Okay thanks!!! Keep up the great playing :)
Excellent interpretation, I really enjoy the tempo, very honest interpretation with no other motives than enjoy every note. I certainly Couperin would liked it. Thanks for posting, by the way... I wish to have a harpsichord like you Is it a new Spinet or a restored instrument?
Ciao
I really liked your video and your channel. If you need any help getting this video or channel exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. Its nice.
You must read "Imprimatur" by Monaldi and Sorti. The Rondo "Les Baricades..." plays a role in this book. But the Rondo is accredite to Francesco Corbetta in this book.
Obvious question: what are the mysterious barricades? F Couperin gave descriptive names to his pieces, so what picture is he painting with this hypnotic mesmerizing tune?
This piece always made me think of a garden - or a grove - at the evening, or late afternoon, when all is still and silent...so could they be the walls of a maze ? This is my suggestion.
nice to see it played at a reasonable speed...so many people try to tear through it so fast the beauty of the bass line againest the melody and the phrasing are lost
Fantastic! I adore this piece (I'm actually attempting - not terribly successfully - to learn to play it at the moment) and it sounds gorgeous on your spinet, really lush and rich. You play with such character and expression - marvellous!
I enjoy all of your videos very much. Your playing is marvelous. But I'm curious; your spinet seems to have a different tone in each video. For instance, for this Couperin, the spinet has a very French tone, and on the Frescobaldi it has a very Italian tone. I'm presuming your spinet has only one set of 8' strings. I'm very interested, as I am considering buying a Bizzi spinet, and I'm hoping I can play a wide variety of repertoire . Thank you.
Simone, I'm making a recital program for a school project. Can you tell me any special characteristics about this music? Specific contexts, historical saying about this piece? What should we listen for in this music? Nice playing by the way.
Thanks for your comment. My spinet's tuning is based on werckmeisterIII temperament with A at 415Hz. I have to improve french tuning, that is very similar to meantone.
Beautiful! Your performance of this piece is my favorite on YouTube.
Are you familiar with another piece by Couperin named "Le rossignol en amour"? There are no recordings of it in print and I have not heard it in years. Could you play it?
In my opinion Couperin wroted this piece thinking about the sound of a harp, because of the particular way he wrote the notes. You render exactly what I imagine, I love your performance !
Thank you, Simone, I love this piece. The sound of the spinet is absolutely gorgeous. It emphasizes the tonic and the lower harmonics. Very rich sound.

Questo è il brano clavicembalistico che preferisco in assoluto. E hai scelto anche un ambiente suggestivo e raccolto per l'esecuzione.
Che dire ? Complimentissimi !

Nice performance, maybe a little too much ritarding at the end for my taste, but very nice overall.
