I didn't realize that I had already commented on this video. This comment is very similar to the first one so I must have really enjoyed watching it since I commented twice...LOL. At least this time, I realized that after you pulled the strands away from the skin, you kept the spaghetti squash in the skin and just added your toppings. No need to transfer to a serving bowl since you're the only one eating it!
Great job Rae! You were very detailed in your video! I have already bought 2 spaghetti squash, and this is my first time attempting to prepare it. I have seen a few other videos then found yours. I'm glad I saw your video. You took the time to prepare yours just as you planned to eat it by ladling on the sauce and parmesan cheese. Thanks a bunch!
I bought 2 spaghetti squash last week, and went looking for receipe suggestions. So glad I found yours! Thanks for giving detailed instructions as well as other tips! I'm going to try cooking mine in a teflon pan on the stovetop covered with an inch of water. I don't want to heat my oven when this way is so much easier. I plan to season mine with a little extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and basil tomato sauce.
I just came across your channel! This looks delicious! I can't wait to try this out. I hope my son loves it, he's a picky eater and is on a gluten free, milk free diet.
I subscribed. :) I'm starting a cooking channel of my own (mostly gluten free), feel free to check it out/sub if you like.
I sauteed garlic, added the spaghetti squash noodles, a bit of butter, pesto, mozarella cheese or parmesan (forgot-this was last week)...it was yummy!! I had never eaten this before. Thanks to your video, I've made this discovery...my tummy thanks you!
Also you can make acorn or butternut squash fries in the oven.Peel and cut into 1/2" fries or wedges.Toss in 1 tbsp. of olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt, pepper, dried rosemary, dried sage and garlic powder. Put onto non stick baking sheet and cook in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes or until the outside becomes a little carmelized. Note: turn them once! So yummy! I use the leftovers on top of 2 cups arugala salad with sliced shallots and sherry vinegarette dressing.Low calorie and filling, too!
Just wanted to add a little cooking tip. If you microwave the whole squash for 2 minutes in the microwave it will soften the skin and make it easier to cut in half. It doesn't cook the inside just softens the skin.
Thanks for the instructions. This was delicious. I put the whole thing in a 375° oven for 1 hour then cut it in half and scraped it. I put olive oil, parmesean and romano cheese, and crushed red pepper, it was one of the best things i've had in a long time and so simple to make. Yummm!!!
thanks for the video! i love how its a lower calorie and carb version to real pasta. im gonna go make this right now cause i bought a spaghetti squash :)
I forget how I made Spa-get Squash, but the Acorn Squash came out okay with the cinnamon and butter,, With Squash it matters which type of butter you use like salted and fresh .. I think I might try the spinach and cheese with a bread crumb topping and maybe some sausage..
My spaghetti squash turned out mushy today. I cooked some yesterday, and it was noodle like and a little crunch and delicious. Today, the mush is disappointing. Anyone know what I did wrong?
I have a farm in Pennsylvania and we decided to try our luck at growing some spaghetti squash this year. We yielded about 140 squash from all the plants, and I have yet to try one for myself! I picked one just about an hour ago, and I will certainly try your recipie first!
im 15 and i llove to cook i do this with a sauce that is made with butter heavy cream and permason cheese i guess thats how u spell it but i boil it first not bake
i like to let the squash cool after shredding it. then toss it with garlic olive oil and some chopped tomatoes and basil. serve room temp, one of my faves in the summer time. great pasta sub!
@johnt1023 ... your recipe sounds delish!! -- Squash is so good by itself... I prefer it plain or just a few simple items that won't overwhelm it... like yours. :)
It taste like squash but really light. Once I put spaghetti sauce on it it taste like pasta to me haha. It's a light taste, nothing strong. You'll love it!
Spaghetti squash is awesome. It tastes great, is good for you, and really fills you up. Ive never thought about putting pasta sauce on it though. That is a really good idea
Oohhhhw, I wanted to see you cutting it. It's the fun part of it. LOL :)
I always make spaghetti squash but I don't use as spaghetti. I use with olives salt, olie oil and sundried tomatos. It's really good :D Serve with steamed veggies and fish.
One other way to cook spaghetti squash is cook it whole. I don't have the strength to cut a raw one. I just put the whole thing in the oven, at 350 degrees for about an hour (depending on the size of the squash). Much easier to cut that way and you scoop out the seeds the same way. I usually let it cool a bit before I cut it.
its not healthy anymore after you add butter, cream and sugar to it

How does the squash come out differently if you just keep it whole when you bake it vs. cutting it in half? Thank You.

you can also just wrap them in foil and bake them, and then the goodness doesn't leak out into the water!
