With the poor quality of this video aside, it is very informative and quite comprehensive in its analysis of the current state of Russia and its relationship to the wider world, particularly the West.

Instead of NATO, the greatest threats to Russia exists within Russia itself (poverty, unemployment, economic underdevelopment, an ageing population, low fertility rates, etc). Ironically, Russia's problems could also be of concern to the West. Therefore, a weakened Russia is in nobody's interest.

You do realize the flaw in your statement, the definition of democracy is a system of government run by elected represents...the politicians that run our country were voted to their positions. If we don't like their policies then we vote for other candidates(Bush to Obama). or the average person in the develped world, Russia seems to have tried to become freer, but still has the problem of great politcal corruption, poverty and organised crime. All nations have this, but having transparicy from the govermnt and the ability to remove corrupt govermants is what any state needs to sucure a high standard of living. Look how the UK has improved in human rights over the decades, this is to do with pressure on govermant and the theat of being voted out
