It's now 2010, get a grip! It was fine for people to believe in religion and all that other bullshit back in the olden times, but for fuck sake, it was just old tales to give people something to believe in! Now we have Science and logical theories for things and you still believe that crap? Wow, you people are stupid.
I like the confusion caused by Sikhi - our Guru's message is universal; Sikhi is NOT a religion; religions state dogmas, rituals, etc. This week we will witness the heads of lambs and goats being sacrificed in the name of God; how absurd! (talking about Eid by the way).
But the message of Nanak is universal since ALL humans are "Sikhing" God...in essence ALL humans are Sikh. Sikhi is a purer form of trying to establish a relationship with God. Something many faiths have failed to do.
A1. Shiva, Rama, Krishna, were aspects of the supreme being Brahman/YHWH. Jesus, moses were Abrahamic prophets of Brahman/YHWH. WaheGuru is not a personage, Waheguru in the Sikh tradition means Wonderous Teacher referring to Brahman/YHWH, Buddha did not pray to anyone, he taught self inquiry.
A2. What kind of stupid question is this? Of course seeing is believing, otherwise you will fall for all sorts of foolishness...Everything doesn't have to be seen with your 2 eyes to be experienced...

To clarify, the word ''sikh'' mean disciple, and the religion ''sikhism'' was made between the muslim sufi and the hindu religion, but a sikh will say that he is not a muslim and neither a hindu. And if u read the life of Guru Nanak, he goes to Mecca with his muslim friend.
Guru Nanak is the founder of Sikhism. For hindus, he was regarded as a Bhagati Guru. For Muslims, a Pir and a Fakeer. Nanak spoke to God for 3 days, who revealed to him a direct revelation. GUYS HE WAS FOUNDER OF SIKHISM- wat he was teachin are the basics of sikhism and sikhism is a universal religion, u can do watever research u want to u will not be able to find anywhere it says dont be a muslim or dont be a hindu or sikhism is the best, infact sikhism says to be honest will u r murshad or guru, so wat sufi saint said in his comment down below are the basics of sikhism
Nanak might be a Muslim; people fought over him after his death
Some said that he was branching off from Hinduism into Sikhism while others said that he was trying to guide people to Islam.
I mean no offense to any Sikhs; infact my best friend is a Sikh; also I do not like the Mughals either because Islam is a peaceful religion in which forceful conversion if prohibited. Hope all those Mughals that forcefully tried to convert innocent people burn in hell.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji: "I do not make pilgrimages to Mecca, nor do I worship at Hindu sacred shrines.I serve the One Lord, and not any other. ||2||I do not perform Hindu worship services, nor do I offer the Muslim prayers.I have taken the One Formless Lord into my heart; I humbly worship Him there. (GGS, p1136)"
Im a Sikh, what 1303hr has remarked is true. After Guru Nanak had passed over there was very heated discussion between the Hindu's and Muslims as to which faith he followed, so as to give him the appropriate funeral rites.
he followed one faith... SIKHISM! and challenged others..."na Hindi, na musalman", as the true Guru Nanak Dev ji spoke when he was only 9 years of age...meaning he was not a Hindu or Muslim. vijay singh
He did not follow any faith. He attained illumination through his dedication to truth. The illumined do not need faith because there is no need for them to believe since they KNOW. He himself said "I reject sectarianism. I recognise one God on the earth, in the heavens and in all directions". He was not the founder of any religion since
there is no religion higher than truth. This was the point he was making when he said "There is no hindu & no muslim" (the predominate religions of the region)
I have a lot of respect for the teachings of Guru nanak but am majorly pissed off that he went to mecca knowing full well that non muslims aint allowed in there.
and he wasnt preaching sikhism, he was preaching the love for one god, one supreme being, brotherly love etc.
im sure there was a perfectly good reason if they did go insude the Mecca, the last thing guru Nanak Dev ji maharaj is do, is dis obey a islamic rule !
Were non muslims banned at the time of Guru Nanaks visit (1600?) ? Did Mohammed (Peace be upon him) leave instructions not to allow non Muslims to grace the very earth which he walked upon? You don't have to be a Muslim to believe in Mohammed (Peace be upon him) Sikhs believe in Islam differently.
KABIR who was muslim sufi saint..Kabir ranks among the world's greatest poets. In India, he is perhaps the most quoted author. The Holy Guru Granth Sahib contains over 500 verses by Kabir. The Sikh community in particular and others who follow the Holy Granth, hold Kabir, a Bhagat, in high reverence.
Kabir was not a muslim or a Hindu. He was critical of both religions. If you really read his poetry as you claim you did, you would know he did not agree with many core practices of islam or main stream Hinduism.
If you all really luv Guru Nanak di Sikh- Then please wake up early in the morning and recite Japji Sahib and Prayer written by Lord-Guru Nanak Ji Sahib himself.
I swear your life will get filled with happiness, trust me I am not lying.
Guru Nanak was aadi Guru i.e. he was appointed a guru by God, parbrahm Himself was Guru Nanak's Guru, he came to end all the pakhand present in all the religions present at that time i.e. both muslim and hindus. sufism itself is influenced by vedanta of hindu philosphy. He did go to bagdad to enlighten people that no particular place is holy, every place is holy, hence going to hajj etc is not important, meditation upon the true name is important

Q2. Why human only believes when he sees, we were thought you cannot see god, then where is our faith?

He himself said "I reject sectarianism. I recognise one God on the earth, in the heavens and in all directions". He was not the founder of any religion since
there is no religion higher than truth. This was the point he was making when he said "There is no hindu & no muslim" (the predominate religions of the region)

Forgive me if you are insulted but that is an incredibly stupid thing to do!!
If you want to mutilate your body go ahead but don't get a tattoo of Guru Ji.

I have a lot of respect for the teachings of Guru nanak but am majorly pissed off that he went to mecca knowing full well that non muslims aint allowed in there.
and he wasnt preaching sikhism, he was preaching the love for one god, one supreme being, brotherly love etc.

im sure there was a perfectly good reason if they did go insude the Mecca, the last thing guru Nanak Dev ji maharaj is do, is dis obey a islamic rule !
manchesterbob92 2 years ago
Were non muslims banned at the time of Guru Nanaks visit (1600?) ? Did Mohammed (Peace be upon him) leave instructions not to allow non Muslims to grace the very earth which he walked upon? You don't have to be a Muslim to believe in Mohammed (Peace be upon him) Sikhs believe in Islam differently.

he was taken there by a man who saved his life - aparently the man wanted nothing in return but for him to simply come and pray with him

Why did Nanak go to Baghdad, what is the real reason behind this?
wassap28 2 years ago
It was an important religious centre of its time. Guru Nanak travelled far and wide and held dialogues with all the learned ones everywhere.
