  • sean, you didnt play like this in redcoats

  • Oh Cool :D, I had to play that to in band, I play the Clarinet BTW :P

  • nice!

  • today he is your brother! yay!

  • an ok job for not working on it long. however... i feel like most of the time the tone is blared and forced. as a result of course, not only does the tone sound bad, but the notes go sharp and at time's it can be unbearably sharp

  • o_0

  • you'll crach and burn if u single tounge this.

  • pretty good

  • Thats really good for just a couple of days

  • that a boy shawn

  • need to play notes to full value. try slurring a phrase and then tonguing it with the slurring in mind. Don't breath! lol during the slow part play with a little more feeling. hold everything out. remember u dont have to clip 16th notes or 8th notes for that matter. they will be short. keep it up.

  • Heh, measure twelve you ignored the eighth rest... it's small but it affects the entire mood of the section. Keep working, sounds good.

  • double and triple tongue. You need to speed it up. You need to not cheat the rhythms. Not saying you wont get it but the 32nd notes are faster then the 16th. I think you need to not practice things wrong. Im guessing you want people's opinions which is real brave and smart. Keep going kid. make sure your not playing this peace to show off and make sure you listen to a recording.

  • For working just a few days, that was pretty good. I'd love to see a video of how your recital went. :-)

  • nice work

  • subed

  • you need to hold out ur phrases. make it music and not just playing the notes. also i heard some wrong rhythms and notes. Keep with it though.

  • holy crap my name is sean albert too!!!!!

  • i like you kid, but i just dont love the song...

  • Just don't attack that person, being an undergrad has nothing to do with it.

  • Anyone can say whatever they want. Saying an undergrad can't say something is being close minded.

  • also being an undergraduate in college, regardless of your chair in ensembles, hardly qualifies you for criticizing the playing of others.

  • Also I wanted to add to everyone that has tried to tear this kid apart for trying to play a challenging piece, how horrible of you. The way everyone talks on here they should professional soloists and performers, but none of you are. Also for the music major who left the hatefull comments. As a college trumpet professor I am apalled to think that an institution will be sending you out to be a music educator. You have the philosophy of music very very wrong, and will never succeed with it.

  • the kennan isnt that hard and if ur gunna put yourself online your asking for criticism... having said that i dont think hes that bad for little rehearsal but if this was an audition he would not make most all district bands

  • First, I just want to say great job. You have a good start to this piece and with a little polishing you would play this movement very well. A few things to work on, attacks and releases, acticulations varied throughout and not lenghts weren't held to their full value. dynamic contrast, without all solo work as well as any other music becomes boring. Finally, phrasing, you're breathing entirely too much and that kills and direction this piece could have. Great job, keep up the great playing

  • download a recording of that piece. You're really screwing up the rhythms. Learn to triple tounge, or at least double.

Just because you can get the notes out of the horn doesn't mean you can really PLAY this piece.

  • wow your horrible, i played this for my freshman jury in college and i picked up and learned this is 2 days.....i mean good for how old u look, but i mean your tone was awful....i will record myself playing it...please feel free to comment...

  • How old are you?

  • That was great for having played it for only three days. And you look really young, so good job.

Now work on improving your tone and dynamics (ie more than just playing at two volumes). Also work on double and triple tounging for the 16th notes and the 16th note triplets, and definitely work alot on timing. You've got a really good range for your age.

I'm actually working on the entire piece for my audition at the Hartt school. The third movement is a biatch.

  • Not bad for 3 days' practice, my friend. Hard to find good recordings of this piece, but David Hickman and Raymond Mase have done it. Check out also the Halsey Stevens trumpet sonata if you haven't already (Wynton Marsalis - "On the 20th Century.") In a similar vein as the Kennan.

  • use metronome.. this is very slow.. you did well with the rythmns for the most part.. i have this as my all-state audition piece at the end of the month.. good luck

  • That is one of the toughest pieces of music ever writen for trumpet. With that it needs alot of work. Things like your tone quality(i don't know if that was the camera or not), open up your sholders, and learn how to double tounge. those are just some of the things that i picked out. definatly start taking lessons privately if u are taking this seriously. I myself struggled with that piece so do not be discouraged but definayly work on it a bit more.

  • Ha, see this fellow gives helpful advice, much unlike turdfuck over there. You are giving helpful advice. Telling him how to fix the problem at the same time. Good man.

  • wow, awesome!:)

  • yeah turdbucket, you dont have to be an asshole. i would have liked to hear you when you first started to play if you think you are the shit and everything. we all have to start somewhere.

  • Pure talent!!!

  • My friend, for his age, and the fact he is not in college for music, I think he did quite well. And I think we should all take advice from one so mature and intelligent as you TURDBUCKETMOTHAFUCKA. Yes your name tells us all we need to know. He has not embarresed himself in anyway. No one noticed that he made those mistakes. No one cares that he made those mistakes. We care that he took the time to play for us.

  • ok, i'm a music major in college and i'm the lead trumpet in my schools symphonic wind ensemble, first trumpet in the brass quintet, and lead trumpet in the jazz band, trust me, i know what i'm talking about.

  • Wow he is really good

  • thanks so much

  • Pretty good =]

  • Thanks

  • Thank you. I'm playing to this song as I write this. I am also a trumpet player. I've been having issues with this song, so I thought I'd hear the right version.

  • not bad, first 30 secconds sucked tho, nice job playing though
