I was there in 2010 and was disappointed. I am a 5th generation Wendat descendant and everything was stereotyped. There was some actual similarities in cultural beliefs and such. It was a sell out. Most Native Americans shouldn't sell their culture to the mainstream society. I would not allow that.
On est censé sauvegarder notre culture et non faire du business avec ca.Il faut conserver ce qui nous reste de plus précieux notre coutume, notre culture et site ancestral si nous voulons survivre..
@clintonbear53 I do not profess to be an expert at Huronculture or tradition but this looks very cheap & stereotypical. The dress these people are wearing makes me ill. Are there ANY Natives that had a hand in making the clothes or setting up this place? What is this dance they are doing and what does it represent....or is it merely a "Kodak moment" for tourists?
I thought our French Fathers could have done much better at creating something truly historical. JMO
C'est malheureux le sort des indiens. On n'est pas loin des zoos humains...

@9SolAnge9 I didn't mean to be ugly, I just thought the Province of Quebec could have done a much better job with this place.

@AndrewIda well of course they had to fake this...why would indigenous people want to take part in selling out their own culture? ;-)
9SolAnge9 2 months ago
@9SolAnge9 ...whether the Huron want to sell it or not, it will be sold. I would think the Huron people would want a somewhat true depiction?
