I am a rabid anti-theist and I approve this message, which should give us atheists a further reason to cherish this wonderful tradition. Until the mid 1800's "christmas" was a drunken orgy that definitely wasn't celebrated by Christians. Puritans in America refuted the druid holiday completely. Christians finally took over Christmas and said that it was Jesus "birthday". I'm kinda glad that us Christians got one over on the pagans, it's usually the other way around...

verse 14:8 is a metaphor referring to the end of the world where Satan is put back in his place "Yea the fir trees rejoice at thee and the cedars of Lebanon,saying,Since thou art laid down, no feller is to come up against us." And all of chapter 10 refers to exactly what the Original pegans did with trees and exactly what they worshiped (not the tree itself) and exactly what colors they wore.....You know I remember a saying in Poverbs that citing scripture for your own purpose is wrong too.

So according to your logic from that verse a doctrine made up by someone from the following verse is acceptable? My interpetation of that passage; it really seems to me to describe the 38,000+ protestant sects. They can claim to do all these things in Jesus' name, yet do not hold the law that has been given to the Catholic Church by Jesus Himself.
Obviously the passage has nothing to do with decorating a tree. The warnings relate to the practice of carving idols! A man fells a tree and transports the trunk to a woodworker who carves an idol therefrom with his axe. While the rich could afford idols made of molten metals, the poor had to content themselves with gods of wood, the idol is plated then decked with silver and gold. It would be todays Walmart version of a idol and has nothing to do with Christmas trees. (cf. Isaiah 40:19, 20).

No where in the scriptures is Christmas supported. Only after 300 years after Christ when the Catholics made an attempt to convert pagans was these practices instituted. Unlike most Christians, I did do my research. The problem is to many people cant let go of traditions. Christians should not have trees just as much as they should not have wedding rings. That is not talking about a tree that you drag into your home, decorate it with silver and gold then bow to it (presents underneath) and sing, "Oh Christmas Tree you are the one I love". Imagine you saying this to the Apostle Paul after he just read Jeremiah 10 in the Temple. Remember there is a Tree of Life this is the one that is based on 100% truth. The evergreen tree does not even bear fruit but even if it did it would still be wrong to practice Christmas with it.

I like the song and I have a tree. Further I am finishing my BA in Bible from Tyndale. This seems very legalistic to me; if you take this to the extreme you are going to have to leave the world.
Besides, the verses this uses in Jeremiah 10 are not talking about Christmas trees. Do your home work before putting something out that is ridiculous. And might I say to blowthetrumpet;; many look at TV and the internet as idols, hmm you better get off of here before you are labeled "idolotrous."

It allows us to focus on the birth of Jesus Christ and the greatest Gift the Father gave to the world (John 3:16). If you do not worship trees, why do you drag them into your home and decorate it. All in honor of a baby Jesus who was not born on December 25th? Remember Satan appears as an angel of light and has deceived the entire world (Rev 12:9) . I have news for you, Jesus is not in Christmas. Never has and never will be. The words that the Prophet spoke are true and quite evident to us today. I don't care if the tree is pagen or not, I am not a Christian and don't believe the religion to have any truth in it whats so ever. I am a Shintoist agnostic, but in Shinto Nature and trees and animals are sacred, to me the tree is my favorite part, its smells so sweet and looks so beautiful, without the X-mas tree, the holiday isn't worth celebrating or even acknowledging. but you have a right to your own opinion, most likely all of our human created religions are probably wrong anyway.

actually Christmas is not a pagan holiday it is a christian holiday, one celebrating the birth of Christ, but it was moved durring the time when Catholicism was the dominant christian religion(or to some the only christian religion at the time) to combat the Winter Solstice or mid winter festivals which were pagan.

Until the mid 1800's "christmas" was a drunken orgy that definitely wasn't celebrated by Christians. Puritans in America refuted the druid holiday completely. Christians finally took over Christmas and said that it was Jesus "birthday". I'm kinda glad that us Christians got one over on the pagans, it's usually the other way around...

Actually it stems from pagan practices but the meaning of the pagan rituals is lost now, the tree is just a tradition of Christmas now, because when they converted the Germanic pagans to Christianity they had to let them keep some of their culture and rituals so they would convert.

The song had nothing to do with Christmas originally. People just made it apart of Christmas like the Yule log which originally was a pagan ritual in which they found the biggest log and burned it for twelve days(of Christmas) to ward off evil sprits and that every spark represented a pig born or how they would prosper after the winter was finally over.

This is true. We have come to celebrate the THINGS of Christmas. Christ was never apart of Christmas. People just adopted it because they were too selfish to get rid of their pagan beliefs. Well, i remember a leading Indian newspaper article stating that Christmas, the tree, the gifts, etc are no longer the monopoly of just the Christians, but that Hindus and people of other faiths have the right to take part in these festivities. Looks like things have come full circle as the nations join in the fray, even if with good intentions.

verse 14:8 is a metaphor referring to the end of the world where Satan is put back in his place "Yea the fir trees rejoice at thee and the cedars of Lebanon,saying,Since thou art laid down, no feller is to come up against us." And all of chapter 10 refers to exactly what the Original pegans did with trees and exactly what they worshiped (not the tree itself) and exactly what colors they wore.....You know I remember a saying in Poverbs that citing scripture for your own purpose is wrong too.

My interpetation of that passage; it really seems to me to describe the 38,000+ protestant sects. They can claim to do all these things in Jesus' name, yet do not hold the law that has been given to the Catholic Church by Jesus Himself.

Obviously the passage has nothing to do with decorating a tree. The warnings relate to the practice of carving idols! A man fells a tree and transports the trunk to a woodworker who carves an idol therefrom with his axe. While the rich could afford idols made of molten metals, the poor had to content themselves with gods of wood, the idol is plated then decked with silver and gold. It would be todays Walmart version of a idol and has nothing to do with Christmas trees. (cf. Isaiah 40:19, 20).
