The noise of the crickets is so relaxing. I’m sure it could do your tits in if you had it to contend with every night but I wish we had that noise to drift off to sleep with.

Where I come from in portugal, this is the bird of death, Everytime somebody hears this bird, someone they know dies withhin 24 ours. This always happens.

Omg yay I figured it out!! I woke up to this noise at 5 am and was like "omg aliens?!" so I looked it up and now I know what it is. It sounded exactly like this!

Thank you for posting this. I have been hearing the same bird just after dark, and I so wanted to know what it was and now I know. I knew we had owls around our house, but I never would have guessed that they could sound like this.

That's a pheasant, not a screech owl. Screech owls sound like someone stabbing a baby, not pleasant cooing.

@adnoxious That would be a barn owl... this is a screech. I've called in many whistling just as these two are doing.

@adnoxious pheasants dont make that high of a sound. they make a bawking cackling sound almost like a chicken. nothing like that.
