  • do you have to use that music?

  • Nice paint job!

  • soooo where is the danger?? o u must be new to slicks...

  • Nice views, lousy music, bad title !

  • You didn't go to the danger zone. You went to the Ronald McDonald house!

  • gosh I wish I could fly helicopters, am I spoiled if I already have my Private Pilots license but envy a helicopter rating :( Just added a article about it at my blog pilotian.com

  • do you own this helicopter in the DFW area?

  • NICE COLOR MAN............WATCH OUT....SOME KIDS MAY SHOOT U DOWN CAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE A BALLOON

  • every second spent in a robbie is a danger zone!

  • Flying extremely low over watered areas like that and you'll eventually catch a cable or power line that is suspended across the water way which you won't see because you'll be too focus on enjoying the scenery that low. Safe flying

  • Scarbow Lake, Mission Bend, Nice house and nice flying!!

  • Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing this song or the Airwolf theme? That shit got old 25 years ago.

  • Lol Danger zone with an R44 is like danger zone with a people carrier

  • You have the best set up my friend! Beautiful house and a great toy in the back yard!

  • yes i bit much for a Bug like this , lucky it still has its wings

  • Great video

  • ENOUGH WITH THAT FREEKIN SONG ALREADY !!!

  • Damn you're so luck to be able to fly when you want, if I could have anything in this world I would be a chopper pilot for sure =)

  • How did you get to be so rich?

  • Cowards die many times before their deaths.

The valiant never taste of death, but once.

Of all the things I have yet seen,

it seems to me most strange that men should fear, ...

  • "Cowards die many tiems before their deaths.

The valiant never taste of death but once.

Of all the things I have yet heard,

it seems to me most strange,

    that men should fear..."

  • Oh not this bloody song again...

  • what a dork..... a soon to be dead weekend warrior

  • How much a chopper like this one costs????

Is it much over 1,000,000 $...

Lets say I wanna get 1 from the 90's

  • @rudyeilabouni if you get 1 from the early 90's u wuld only pay about 50,000 depending on condition and model

  • @jonathann110 Nice...

I might get one in 30 years :p lol

  • @rudyeilabouni An R44 with all the trimmings will only set you back about half a mill... And like ithers have said, Price is a sliding scale as to the year of manufacture. Though i've never seen a 44 or a 22 for that matter advertised for anywhere near $50,000... And if I saw one under say, $200,000 I wouldn't consider flying it... I'd rather put an extra 50 to 80 grand on top just to stay alive.

  • @DaCurbstomper I know what you mean...

    Thanks for the answer.

  • If you can fly an R44 or R22 competently you can fly virtually anything. You can always tell the R22 pilot, he's the one driving home from the airfield with his hand permanently on the handbrake - that's for the Brits.

  • There is nothing wrong with an R44 Raven II. Fresh out of overhaul can out work a bell 206 anyday

  • I know nothing about helecopters but I'm guessing that the rotor being sort of high up like that must add stability right?

I mean it must add a kind of pendulum effect to the handling with all the weight being two or three feet lower than the rotor?

Just a total guess, For all i know it's just so you dont give yourself a haircut when you get out of it.

  • not really, the high rotor is more so that it doesnt cut your head off if you walk up to it wiht the rotors spinning, also, it keeps the rotors further away from the tail, 2 blade systems have a habit of cutting their tails off. The added stability of being higher up is not that much as it is a flapping head, and the robinsons are known to be quite finicky, which is why they require their own type rating, but also means theyre great training tools.. if you can hover a 22, youre pretty much set

  • @mjc13103 - A = Kinda - helicopters are unstable by nature - counterintuitively they are only stable if the rotor is on the bottom! Sikorsky worked this out back in the day. A bit hard to do in practice although you do get some remote control toys made that way and they fly around fine. I agree that hanging the weight of the chopper further down would have to help but they still want to "fall over" like a marble sitting on top of a beach ball.

  • the music suits this death trap. fly bell.

  • very cool video, but I didnt see the danga zone!

  • how much do they cost??

  • 250k and up, too much if you ask me

  • @seanminator2 - keep going - try half a mill ! US dollars too.

  • Cara ue legal ter seu prprio helioptero no quintal de casa, muito muito bom mesmo, parabens,,,

  • X-plane has a download for the R44 Raven I...Seriously realistic.

BTW what is the engine brake for?

  • it's in the name it basically slows the engine...

  • Its a rotor brake, to add in the slowing/ stopping of the rotor baldes after engine shutdown.

  • very nice, hello

  • cool

  • Nice video although I would have to agree with some of the comments that "I went to the danger zone" is perhaps a little strong for some tame R44 flying.

  • @nalanostrebor its because Robinson Helicopters are so deadly lol

  • @nalanostrebor

There is no such thing as "lame flying in an R44!! lol!

  • You have failed at life..........

  • I think it was awesome.

  • the music is ok, theres a video of a paraglider on youtube that used that music too... this chopper suits it better.

  • just flew a r44 today for the second time....got my private in a schweizer. working on my commercial in a 22 and my instrument in the 44. i probably wouldnt bank as hard as this pilot did but just because the ship and the videos ive seen about it scare me into takeing it real easy.

  • billy ray cyrus?! bleh...

  • hick music wouldnt flow too well with this vid

  • i wanna go to flight school so friggen badly!

  • Alright this comment is for the creator of this video...first off the Robinson is a GREAT machine these days, it had some issues a decade ago but they worked that out. NOW...the beginning start-up sequence of that video launched me back to my childhood...it was A LOT like the beginning of a movie called "Deadly Encounter". Was that a coincidence or are you a TRUE helicopter fanatic like me who loves that movie for teh CRAZY but REAL flying with no computer generation!?

  • @JoshMichael - here in Oz a bunch of 22s were lost due to fudged maintenance records etc and then rotor hubs failing. Plus the early ones had very little weight in the rotor disc to play with during an autorotation and I believe that caught a few people out.

  • Well what can i say ? Great chopper, great home ! This guys doing something right! Half ur luck !

  • Wow flying fast well filmed.

  • LMAO!! LOVE all the haters my friend! Jealosy and envy.... eat it up! One question though. Did you actually CHOOSE that paint scheme?

  • Danger zone for any Robinson Helicopter is anytime you are over 4ft off the ground.

No other helicopter in the world requires a 'safety course' to point out all the various ways this thing will disassemble itself in mid air. A very 'unforgiving' machine. It fails the 'Wife and Kids' test.

The only machine I have flown which makes me feel uneasy.

  • all helicopters (including those used by Hospitals and rescue services) require safety courses and training by law

  • I think you might be confusing specic type rating qualifications with the Robinson safety course all pilots are 'encouraged' to attend. No other helicopter has a safety course to teach you how to avoid all the design flaws that will kill you.

  • I think you might be confusing specic type rating qualifications with the Robinson safety course all pilots are 'encouraged' to attend. No other helicopter has a safety course to teach you how to avoid all the design flaws that will kill you.

  • LOL! So true and no other helicopter has its own SFAR requirements either!

  • anyone who claims to dislike flying a Robinson hasn't actually flown one. Simple as that.

  • or ridden in one

  • anyone who plays that damn top gun song should have their balls cut off

  • Love all the experts here. The R44 is one hell of a nice aircraft. Not a play toy. In fact, you almost have to have a type rating to fly it (SFAR 73), due to it's peculiar EP handling characteristics. I wish I could afford one of these things...although I'd probably have to go with a more modest paint scheme.

  • the only danger is when the main rotors are spinning at full throttle.

  • yeah i'd like to see you get i one and "play" without knowing what you're doing. this or an r22 will put you ass over teakettle faster than any other heli on the market.

  • shows how much you know about helicopters, statisticly the r22 and 44 are more reliable than any of the more popular turbine helis such as the as350 or md500

  • my comment wasn't regarding their reliability. it was regarding their difficulty. homoboy is acting like it's a toy that anyone can just jump in and "play" with. if you don't know what you're doing, a robinson WILL put you ass over teakettle faster than any other helicopter.

  • Youre not gonna get far by trying to fly out of a hangar! (Might wanna get rid of those boxes around you before you decide to go too!)

  • Let's see you fly it.

  • WARNING: Low G maneuvers prohibited

So, why the 4 pt harness?

  • Sort of like why 24-hr. convenience stores have locks.

  • For crashing?

  • Corny, real corny. It's is a R44 for Christ sake.

  • And your point is????

  • coll vids i flon in a r44

  • that is the most homoerotic paint job I have ever seen

  • dead-man's curve is low and slow... nothing too serious there

  • maybe you should review your performance charts..

  • Nothing a diving crew can't fish out.

  • was waiting for the 'danger zone'... was none. interesting paint job.

  • The danger done was flying within the dead-man's curve over the water! :o

    Well-produced, though!

  • Very Cool chopper!

    Nice video.

    Thanks.

  • its amazin to read all about jealous people i think your r 44 is a real smart helicopter, you enjoy it mate wish it was me

  • Does that giraffe-neck mast render it any more stable than, say, a Bell 47? Any comparison?

  • I think it would. I provides a lower center of gravity thus providing more stability for pilots with less experience. A bit harder to get inverted. Just my opinion.

  • Powerliney!

A remote controlled helicopter for almost 300k ? Yeah right!

  • y does it seem that everyone that has an r44 has a death wish?

  • because they have piston engines and a lot of torque

  • the greatest i have ever seen

  • Super butifill

  • OMG Powerliney you are so stupid.HAHA "remote controlled"HAHAHA

  • Might wanna get a Eurocopter BO-105 or better to do what your sayin' fosterbt...lol

  • do some stunts, dude. like a sustained inverted hover, or some piro flips

  • R in R44 stands for robinson you are retarded Powerliney. This is what pisses me off, when you stupid people have never been around helicopters and post all this BS. This is a real helicopter Idiot!

  • Mommy let u play with the computer again Powerliney?

  • Aw is someone jealous?

  • the best ive seen 5 stars for you Mr.!

  • baaaaaaaaaaaahahaha that was friggin hilarious......now i gues it really is danger zone flying an R44...scarios man

  • What a way to ruin a pefectly good song....

  • nice house....

  • Lol. DangerZone in a rainbow coloured R44?? WTF! Lol

  • Danger zone = Dead mans curve

  • i can fly better than that after 12 pints!!

  • That's one of the softest videos ever... you and you're gay color scheme 44 suck balls and will probably have a fatal crash soon enough with the way you fly...

  • I agree lol!

  • For the FS guys here, try the DodoSim Advanced Bell 206B, that's as real as it gets in domestic simulators so far, but nothing is the same as feeling what the helicopter is doing before there is any external visual clue, for that, you need to do the real thing, good video, but only cos I don't know you or own the helicopter!!! - There are no old daring pilots!

Also, I wish you luck selling her on, now that the world has seen how well you treated her?

  • cool

  • looks like MASSACHUSETTS ... nice video

  • Music is cool! Wat is it?

  • ... danger zone

  • Cool stuff but more exciting in Polair 1 (Bell 206) on drug operations with an old ex-RAAF pilot in command along the Murrumbidgee River, Australia. :-)

  • Nice video... I gave you only 3 stars because of the music... Why all the clips has to have music !?!? I wanna hear the sounds of the heli... See you

  • Great vid, man. 5 stars from a heli-freak who never flown in one (yet).

  • Cool vid. Not a fan of the music but I gave you 5 stars anyways.

  • Nice video.

You really need to watch out for birds and wires around those rivers. A duck could take out that Robbie in a second.

I like the paint job. Easy to spot in the air or on the ground.

  • that looks like such awesome fun. I've got my fixed wing license but dream of getting the helicopter ticket also! very cool, thanks!

  • You better hope the engine never quits while flying like that. I flew that way a few times when I was young & stupid.

  • Dude this is mad. I'd love to learn how to fly one, I heard they are quite similar to on the flight sim to fly, but for some reason I can never land it, the rest seems easy.

  • I agree it is very difficult to stick a helecopter back on the ground gently in FS with all the realism settings to max. I think the main problem w/ helicopters in FS (and all other aircraft) is that you cant feel what's going on, all you have is a very very narrow band of vision and instruments, but you cant feel weather your going up,down, nowhere, etc...

  • i wish i had a helicopter

  • Yet another military wanna-be who's seen Top Gun too many times. And we wonder why Helicopter pilots have a reputation for being unsafe. I must admit, this guy was tame in comparison to many I've seen on here.

  • lol he sent a comment to somene else saying "Flying inthe real thing. R44" i think it need a coples servos and a radio control and become a radio controled helicopter lol

  • yup pretty safe flying, those airspeeds and altitude conditions when you where flying near the water, real smart, and you broke the regs, for over water flight you rich bastard

  • Super Video!!! Realy Great Awesome Job!

  • Want to see the painting process on this R44? Visit this link to see the paint guy in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PydNmqfPZmU

  • Awsome, I went up in an R 44 Raven twice. It was a blast. Love the music with the video too:)
