@dojOdRiFTeR no, I can't say I know that. Schumacher does have the records, but I do know that Schumacher himself has been quoted as saying senna is the best, as well as a lot of other racing drivers, so that could mean something. And who brought fangio into this lol don't insult him
I wish they'd put Imola back on the calendar and get rid of the Valencian, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Chinese Gp's where there is no overtaking, no risks and nobody ever shows up.
The Formula-1 are three factors, First Reliability, Second Speed, Third Tactic, and if you dont have one of the three things, you never win, Alonso have the three factors, and its very good pilot best than Kimi Raikkonen. ¡Alonso is one of the best in the history!
You're right. This car does look so much better than from 2009 until the present. I hate those "shark-style" pieces they have from the engine air inlet back to the rear wing.
The smaller front tires look wrong even though there is not such a big difference from last year.
Raikkonen does have a different personality which the sport needs right now for sure!
This were the times when F1 cars were super fast. Today they just get slower and slower for every year that goes. I remember back in 2002 or something like that when you saw the rev meter go up to 17-18000RPM and you were just "WOW". Then 2003 they went to 19000RPM and 2004 like 20000RPM. But fuck, since then it's only gone down, if it hadn't we'd been at 25000RPM now haha. F1 needs to be fast again with V10 engines, maybe V12 again.
Without any reliability problems, that year would have seen a total domination by him. So many problems and yet he stayed so close in the championship!
i think in 2005 kimi was the fastest ever in his carreer, of course he was always very fast and he won title in 2007 and afters schumacher's retirement he was surely the best F1 driver, but i think in 2005 he had car that really suit to him, in that 2005 McLaren, it really was untouchable driver...it is my most favourite car, it was fast, beautyfull...but faulty..
I hope that even Hungaroring and Montecarlo are banned as circuits. So far, only Imola. There were no overtaking manouver in so many times I've seen the Imola Grand Prix.
This was not a good track. It was boring. It needs the old Tamburello and a continous straight from Rivazza 2 to Tamburello to be a great track again.
Europe => suspension failure on the last lap.He was 1st
(FA 1st)
Germany => hydraulic failure.He was 1st(FA 1st)
You can add the 10 places in France,GB,Italy and Japan
At the end Kimi just 21 points behind Alonso.Kimi deserved to win at least 10 races and the championship but he didn't because of his car' bad reliability
@veyronzondaf And obviously 2008, reasons:Austalia:Stupid mistake but he could even win the race!(at least 6 points) Hamilton crash in his back Canada(+2 points for Kimi compaing to Hamilton);Spa: Hamilton ruined Kimi's leading by cutting the Bus Stop chicane(+8 for Kimi). 6+2+8=16 - Kimi wins the tittle! I didn't listed points in China for keeping Massa's tittle hopes...etc.
Statistics from the 2005 season. Las led: Raikkonen 375, Alonso 336. Last time a driver was champion without having led the most laps in a season was 1989 when Prost was champion despite Senna leading more laps. Of course Prost sat in the same car and took Senna out in Suzuka.
Raikkonen's win from 17'th in Suzuka was worthy of the title alone.
@MerrasMies Well we can imagine that he should have finished 4th in Australia, 5th in Sepang and won at Imola, Europe, Germany. 152 points out of 190. Michael did 148 out of 180 in 2004
@samyom73 Totally agree with you on that i dont think Alonso deserved the 05 title at all,Kimi was surely had the fastest car that season but was heavily compromised because of poor reliablity, one person to blame is Adrian Newey
@MclarenGooner10 I think that Alonso deserved it because he was fast, and his car had the best reliability, whereas Kimi was by miles more impressive (just remember Japan^^) But to finish first, first you have to finish. Lack of luck cost also 3rd place to Montoya and Fisichella, even if they seemed quite nervous sometimes. But how the hell with such fast cars they finished behind the worst Ferrari F1 for years???
The Formula-1 are three factors, First Reliability, Second Speed, Third Tactic, and if you dont have one of the three things, you never win, Alonso have the three factors, and its very good pilot best than Kimi Raikkonen. ¡Alonso is one of the best in the history!

@samyom73 u don't win championships by whiningu win it by consistency and pace and alonso paced himself to win raikkonen over did it but he won it in 2007 the better (sensible) driver won
@dojOdRiFTeR Hahaha that's how Spanish people were manipulated to think, right? Kimi over-did it?? As listed above Kimi was always on top but his car failed him about ten times, enough said, Alonso cruised to championship. In my mind Kimi is the real 2003 & 2005 champ and nothing will change that.
@samyom73 raikonen isn't bette rthan kimi he's to lazy and never was a gd test driver to deveklop cars alonso senna and schumacher r in a different league
@dojOdRiFTeR alonso is NOWHERE near the same league as senna, let alone schumacher. the only drivers comparable to senna were the ones right there with him driving with a manual gearbox. to todays standards alonso and raikkonen have tons of skill, but any real F1 fan would tell you that the most skill was involved prior to paddle shifter gearboxes. aside from all that, raikkonen will always be my favorite driver. and alonso better hurry and win a championship for maranello before they fire him
@lackofcouture senna isn;t even in the same as kimi or alonso or schumacher that overrated fucker is overrated cause he died period senna 41 wins to 65 poles sounds to be he just a glorfied single lapper and u dam well know its the truth schumacher is the greatest f1 driver fangio oph plzz the fatty can't even fit in the cars today
@dojOdRiFTeR During Senna's first year of F1 many people said that he was going to be one of the all time greats. They were right. Even before his untimely death drivers, mechanics and spectators alike all thought that he was the best. Have some respect you uneducated prick.
@Darkfallsification no i respect senna death as in it was bad but no i don;t respect senna other than what happen at imole 1994 senna did wprst things than schumi and schumacher dam well deserves the respect if schumacher had died he wud be the most respected f1 driver period senna nut huggers need to realise that stats mean everything and schumi's stats blows sennas away by a mile
yeh I think its the best he has had in his Career. the Black ones are not my fav. But rumours have he is on his way back to Mclaren for one last year in f1 cause Ferrari want Massa and Alonso
I'm not a huge schumy fan but I'm no hater. I love when people say that schumy had no competition and so doesnt compare to senna. But kimi definitely has had some great duels with schumy. Some of my favorite in recent memory actually. (recent memory equaling the last 20 years or so)
People who say old Kimi was good - new Kimi is asleep dont know what the fuck they are talking about.
The understeery cars of Ferrari just kills Kimis natural speed. But in spite of that he became champion. And he set 10 fastest laps last year once the tires finally worked.
So far this year he has outqualified his teammate and scored two podiums with basically a dog of a car.
Kimi is the fastest driver in the field. Alonso is the best overall, but when it comes to pure speed, Kimi is #1. He should have been a 3-time World Champion, but bad luck ruined that.
I think the biggest factor making Kimi worse nowadays - despite he has won 1 champ with them - are the Bridgestone tyres. Kimi always seemed to be one with the car on Michelins imo.
Yes, that and I think Ferrari has always developped the car in a bit of another direction than McLaren too. Since Massa got his big break in Ferrari and was basicly taught to drive by Schumacher that suits him better. He's been driving Ferrari long before 2006 after all. Still Kimi should beat Massa and I'm sure he will this year even though it might not mean that much.
PS: And yes I do also love the European circuits, it bums me out that they are neglected lately. I have nothing against Shanghai or Albert Park, for instance, I love every track on the globe. Just hope F1 returns to its cradle, Europe, soon enough...
The MP4-20 was an awesome piece of engineering, a masterpiece. It was the fastest car on the grid, albeit with a host of reliability glitches. Still, it was the one that should have brought Kimi his first title, but just like in 2003, McLaren messed things up for the Iceman... Me, I regard Kimi as the best driver on the planet and I do count 2003 and 2005 as being championship seasons for him as he deserved it so much more than Michael, not to mention Fernando...
that's why alonso won 2005. Because of reliability. shumacher retired 5 races I think and as you mentioned raikkonen should have won but he crashes and had a few failures. something alonso didn't
Kimi actually made that car look fast! Montoya didn't look anywhere near as quick behind the wheel... Kimi just looked ridiculously rapid in that thing!
You are so right Michaelingolfhansen. This version of Imola really sucks, noone will miss this track. The old Imola rules, please bring back tamburello curve...
Kimi moving to Ferrari was a smart move. He has never enjoyed F1 as much as he does today. Now he can do what he wants in his free time. 2nd championship this year to our flying Finn!!

He should've stayed at McLaren...But i understand his frustration and moving to Ferrari seems to be a better move. But Ferrari is a dirty environment and i don't think Kimi is really suited there. Jerks like Massa would have a good time at Ferrari.
Yea but you know what happened to fernando last year, would have happened to kimi if he would have stayed at mclaren, the team spirit sucks there, kimi is happier and he enjoys what hes doing more than ever at ferrari, thats what he has said to finnish commentators.

jraybay 2 years ago
2006 the same ...to many unhappy accidents or retirements for schumacher

Which corner is Tamburrello?
yamamato44 3 years ago
tamburello chicane at 0.11. used to be flat out curve before senna was killed there
tommetallicarock 2 years ago
thanks, I knew it used to be a single curve, its just hard to tell where it used to be when its not onboard.

that onboard view from kimi ( looking at his helmet ) is annoying

Turn six in Imola is named Villeneuve.
CTUfinland 3 years ago
turn 6 is actually the Tosa Hairpin, which is at 0:27-0:29. Villeneuve is the second chicane (turns 4 and 5), which is at 0:20-0:23

Kimi actually made that car look fast! Montoya didn't look anywhere near as quick behind the wheel... Kimi just looked ridiculously rapid in that thing!
GO KIMI!!!

WhyYouLOL 3 years ago
almost, button's lap was 1'19.753 and this lap from raikkonen is 1'19.886.

You are so right Michaelingolfhansen. This version of Imola really sucks, noone will miss this track. The old Imola rules, please bring back tamburello curve...
BackmaniaC 3 years ago
The old imola was dangerous, that's why they changed it.

bring back imola! what a great track
fleder0maus 3 years ago
Yep...bring back the OLD Imola!!!
THIS version sucks!
...nothing but short straights and slow chicanes all the way!
Destroying the track was not the right way to honour Senna.
Michaelingolfhansen 3 years ago
Kimi moving to Ferrari was a smart move. He has never enjoyed F1 as much as he does today. Now he can do what he wants in his free time. 2nd championship this year to our flying Finn!!

carpediem111111 4 years ago
Yeah, i agree with you AleXcr86 SanMarino is a great track and raikkonen is my number 1.

He should've stayed at McLaren...But i understand his frustration and moving to Ferrari seems to be a better move. But Ferrari is a dirty environment and i don't think Kimi is really suited there. Jerks like Massa would have a good time at Ferrari.
kanov 4 years ago
Yea but you know what happened to fernando last year, would have happened to kimi if he would have stayed at mclaren, the team spirit sucks there, kimi is happier and he enjoys what hes doing more than ever at ferrari, thats what he has said to finnish commentators.
