Their airplane technology and research is just at the beginning. They can not simply just design something out of total scratch and build a complete new airplane and parts. They are just not at that level yet. So they have to buy a lot of parts from more advanced airplane companies. And thats why there aircrafts resemble a lot with excisting airplanes. But that doesnt mean they are complete clones or new airplanes. This is all just research and investment for there future plans.

This is a conventional airplane, there is nothing unordianry about it. It may look similar to an American design, but it is not stealth, doesn't employ weapons systems that can compete with ours and lacks the latest powerplants and thrust vectoring.
This jet doesn't have weapons because this is a TRAINER! A person who speaks Farsi, commented on another video related to this jet, that the woman being interviewed, is the designer, and explained to the reporter (the other woman) that this plane can also be built as a light ground attack jet, to provide support to troops, and armor. A big advantage of this plane besides it's performance is low cost. The designer is not implying that this is some 5th generation wannabe, or anything like that.
But I prefer to think of it as a turd with wings (which it likely is). All the good Iranian designers flee the Islamic Republic and build beter stuff for the free world anyway.
What is so difficult about designing a training jet? Iran probably has some of the best scientists, and engineers in the Middle East. There is no evidence that Iran's technical personnel are "fleeing" the country, at least not in large numbers like you're implying. This is a conventional airplane, there is nothing unordianry about it. It may look similar to an American design, but it is not stealth, doesn't employ weapons systems that can compete with ours and lacks the latest powerplants and thrust vectoring.

This jet doesn't have weapons because this is a TRAINER! A person who speaks Farsi, commented on another video related to this jet, that the woman being interviewed, is the designer, and explained to the reporter (the other woman) that this plane can also be built as a light ground attack jet, to provide support to troops, and armor. A big advantage of this plane besides it's performance is low cost. The designer is not implying that this is some 5th generation wannabe, or anything like that.

What is so difficult about designing a training jet? Iran probably has some of the best scientists, and engineers in the Middle East. There is no evidence that Iran's technical personnel are "fleeing" the country, at least not in large numbers like you're implying.
