  • rock version.... :D

  • This always struck me as a ridiculous worship song. As a song in itself, fine, but singing about banqueting tables and perhaps the fine cutlery too, just doesn't do it for me

  • @JiminyKracker Its in Song of Songs 2-4

  • @waverleyrocker ah ok. But everything I said still stands. Chronicles has plenty of verses too but few would make good worship songs

  • We have rather tainted views of marriage. This song is from the Song of Solomon. What must it mean to be brought to the King's table, and to enjoy his love?

  • @MimiDove9 Hi Mimi, it is about our God wanting to bring us near him. He (the king of kings) prepares everything for us, and all we need to do is accept his over. What a great and loving God : )

  • excellent version of this song. Loved the arrangement!

  • Epic!

  • The song is called "His Banner Over Me". Written by Kevin Prosch, Mercy Vineyard 1991.

  • what was this song actually called? and who was it orignaly done by?

  • @ClaireMichelle101 I am clueless. This is the only time I've ever heard this verson of this song sung outside of my local church. There are other similar versions, but none with the bridge that goes: "I can feel the love of God in this place. We believe Your Goodness, we receive Your Grace. We delight ourselves at Your table, oh God. You do all things well, just look at our lives."

  • @sjhedeen Really? Thank you!

  • The bridegroom talks about submission. As a wife submits to her husband, we all need to submit to God's authority.

  • This song is preety easy if you hear to it everyday

  • Jallen, you speak good words, but the wrong way round, as it were! for marriage is a pale example of the gospel message. Jesus leads and the church follows; the man leads, and the woman follows. Jesus gives sacrificial love so that the church MUST respond with love because of His goodness; the man must give sacrificial love to the woman , in order that she can live life as Christ intends, and responds with love and respect for man!

So to be a manly man is to follow Christ and obey Him.

  • Hmm, good stuff.

  • As the bride aren't we in the feminine half of this relationship? Did Jesus not say that in heaven we will be as the angels neither male or female, neither marrying or giving in marriage? I believe men need to really be masculine but we still need to know where we are in the spirit.

  • Really good point! I definitely think guys need to step up to the plate a LOT in our society, and be men, not boys. But it's true that when it comes to God, they do need to also be the ones who follow where Jesus leads and take te girl's position. Hmm, thanks for that thought.

  • This is actually quite difficult to sing with a straight face as a guy... if you think of where in the Bible this is...

  • Lol, I guess you're right. I never thought of that, probably because I'm a girl. But it's a really good song regardless.
