Sony Xplod's aren't Bad,they are Budget and not the Best Around but they will get the job done Fairly....though Kenwood,JBL,Pioneer or Alpine are Better Options if you want something with a Bit of Sound Quality with the High Output.

It is a 4 ohm sub, that amp put out 2kW at 1 ohm, but probably only 500rms at 4 ohm.

Really it's not that much heat for it to dissipate. It could probably handle that all day.

ok, you're not suppost to play music on the orion at their peak powers. peak power is for burps only any sub will blow if you listen to music at it's peak. and plus explods ratio between peak and rms is like 3.2:1 where as orions is 1.7:1 (rms : peak) which tells you that sony's rms more then tripled makes it's peak, orions rms less then doubled makes its peak. sony gives you less rms for its peak compared to orion.

You can blow any speaker with any amp. I can pop my Peavey loudspeakers, which take 800w peak, with a 100 watt amp. It doesn't matter how much power, it matters on the signal you're sending it. Of course, 2,000w into an 800w PA speaker at full volume may kill it, but if you put a low power amp into a high power speakers and overdrive it, that can kill a speaker far more than overdriving a speaker with more power than it can take.
