The idea come from the mind of Enki Bilal. A european artist who wrote and draw a famous comic book series named Nikopol Trilogy. Orginal in french: La trilogie Nikopol: La foire aux immortels, La femme piège and Froid Equateur.

The idea of chessboxing come from the last book of this trilogy (Froid Equateur). Hollywood tried to make a movie with that comic book (Immortal) but that was a big mess...

He believed himself to be invincible, and so did his opponents. Boxing is already a sport of both body and mind. This was a stupid idea.
