Respectfully, I would disagree with Senor Gregg. I believe we are under taxed in the sense that most Americans pay little or NO federal income taxes. Our tax code is too complicated and too punitive. If you live in this country, you should pay your fair share of taxes to fund the federal government. A simple flat percentage collected at the point where income is earned (like S.S) would be the best system of all. It would change our economy for the better, create jobs, and build wealth.

Your theory is flawed in one aspect: poor people are far less likely to vote than those in the middle class or upper class brackets. In terms of voter turnouts, the poor and minorities are greatly underrepresented.
