  • How did the bus cross all that? Who put it there is the next question.?

  • Why would people be so stupid. What would bring them that far out just to break shit.

  • its fine to visit and walk inside of it and stuff, but fuck anyone who messes with the bus. Like smashing the windows or breaking the suitcase.

not only is the bus a sanctuary of all things free spirited, but even if you don't agree with Chris or his life style. Someone fucking died in there, thats the same thing as pissing on someone's grave.

  • your dog?

  • @therightpremiums Yep, that'd be Ponder.

  • Its good of you to clean that up out of respect for Chris, but others who would need shelter Even if they didn't like the whole Supertramp lore why would they destroy a perfectly good shelter? More than likely I bet locals did it because they don't like tourists. Campers might leave trash, be bad guests so to speak? I would not leave the bus like that when I go there to hike

  • why would someone do that. even if i hated the movie(which i don't i would not have the motovation to go all the way out there to just to break some shit, what dumb asses

  • people have no respect for this bus. you're a good man for cleaning it up. i watched half of the movie today in my american literature class and loved it so far, and i want to let you know chris is proud of you for cleaning up his home.

  • im kind of confused, do you own the property? why do you go to the bus? this is the same one from the movie right? i need a backstory of the video!

  • @FutureLaugh

Look up Christopher McCandless on wiki... And read "Into the Wild". That's the backstory.

  • @FutureLaugh

Oh, nobody and everybody owns the property. I like going out there for the country and space. It's the bus from the story, the real one; that the movie was made about.

  • cant believe some asshole/assholes knocked out the windows and screwed up the place so messed up as that is a memorial site. good for you sir for cleaning it up

  • so awesome man i love the dog so amazing, i am planning the hike hopefully in a year out to the bus, definitly need to ask u questions if ur willing to answer about the area soon!

  • is he written what on the gold plate in the bus?

  • ok, you dont know what magic bus is?

    YOU havent lived.

  • yeah im really confused? where is the bus? a bus normally carrys people?

  • can someone please explain what the bus is?

  • That bus would have been better off burnt, scraped or demolished after he died just because of the assholes that ruin it for everyone.

  • my dream is to drive in an atv in an landscape like that, thats so cool!

  • your dog is beast

  • @brettdabeast97 dude i cant stop laughing with your comment...hahahaha...

  • @georgevitisarch why lol???

  • Much respect to you man. It is a shame how many classles people there are out there. Good video and one heck of a dog you have! I know that water had to be cold as crap for Ponder!

  • This bus is a piece of history. Sad that people would meddle with it

  • Good video and you are to be commended for cleaning up after the "Vandals" that displayed their worthless nature.

  • Wow. What a-holes. Agree with the others here. Why make the trip to trash the bus like that? As you said, bound to happen but after almost 20 years, I'm happy to see that things aren't in worse shape. Sort of reinforces Chris's ideas about people. Thanks for cleaning up. It's what a 'good man' would do. Also thanks for the video. Some of us may never get the opportunity to visit so we're thankful for these. Darling dog-lol!

  • what kind of atv did you use????

  • why would people make that journey to trash the bus? scumbags. fair play mate for having the thing that they fuckers havent got, respect.

  • I hate fuckers who enjoy destroying for example this memorial bus!

  • I find it really weird that someone would mission out there just to break some windows etc. and throw stuff around. I just can't imagine what kind of an idiot would do something like that.

  • I can't believe someone did that. It makes me so mad and upset. Especially with the mattress and windows, the suitcase... God. I can't believe that. Thats awesome of you to clean it up.

  • What a shame that some morons feel the need to wreck other people's memorials. Good thing you check (and fix) it sometimes.

  • Just can't believe some people. What do they achieve by wrecking somebody's possessions that have been left there in loving memory. I hope the river washed them away on their return to the road. At least some one is kind enough to clean up after these indecent folk (cunts). Thanks all the way from the UK.

  • i wanna go :D

  • what is "the bus"?

  • Well done for cleaning up. Have you been to the bus recently? Is it still in good repair?

  • Haven't been able to make it all the way out there for a bit now. Had some bad luck this past summer, as you'll see in some of my other videos.

  • @mtcaving I just watched your two ATV mishap videos. Glad you managed to get it out of there ok. Good luck with the repairs!

  • @mtcaving who in the fuck would trash the bus?drunk fuckers!! that was nice of you to clean up. loved your vidieo!!!!!!!!!! i love alaska ,i salmon fished up there in 92-94 S.E. ak. i live in gig harbor wa. i love the nw!

  • probably a stupid question but are you allowed to camp around or in the bus for about week without getting in any serious trouble... i would love to experience what he did

  • it looks like fallout !!

  • wow like you i was so bummed when you showed how people have trashed the inside and outside... awsome for you to have picked things back up and it sounds like you are a regular visitor... such a shame that other people would do that and go against the idea of what he did and what that bus was all about. glad its far enough out to keep most people away... im going to start a bucket list, this place is gonna be my 1st check mark

  • hmmmm , interesting

  • READ THE BOOK OR WATCH TE MOVIE!!!

  • READ THE BOOK

  • What were you packing during this vid?

  • @PSNjizzcake

On my quad, my AR-15; on me, my G-29.

Only one of which, I've had to use.

  • whats the story behind?

i just stumbled over this vid and wondered, why somebody would go out there and

clean up an old abandoned rusty bus.

  • @gus23a a dude named Christopher Mccandless (Alex Supertramp) died in the bus.

  • @mystfire

thank you. i found out about the bus on another video.

  • i would really like to meet the punk that did that to th bus i would like to tech tham a thing or 2 about respect and like everyone else said thanks for cleaning up

  • does every lonely traveler talks to himself? :)

    btw, nice pic.

  • It's the only way to maintain the insanity.

    Thanks

  • How long of a trip is it back to the bus from normal road way?

Whats the best time of year to go out there?

    Thanks.

  • It's in the Neighborhood of 20 miles from the end of the road you can take a regular vehicle down in the summertime. Longer in the winter, because of snow and drifts.

The best time to go and not have to worry about the rivers is winter, granted, then there is the cold and dark to worry about.

  • my name is lonnie mason. my wife is chris's cousin and she has always wanted to go out to the bus. we were wondering when the best time of the year to go out there is

  • fucking so stupid people ruin the bus! now you cant go there and see EXACTLY how chris left it :(

  • I applaud the respect you show at the bus. So sad the way some people can be so heartless.

  • So sad to see someone would do that. Thanks for cleaning that up. You’re a good man!

  • So sad to see someone would do that. Thanks for cleaning that up. You’re a good man!

  • i take it that this guy is from alaska

  • solo il pensiero ke qualcuno vada a profanare il magic bus mi rattrista molto..

  • Why in the hell would anyone want to vandlise this place?...it's bad enough seeing vandalism in the 'real world' but somewhere like this??!

  • What kind of retard would do this?

  • Well done for cleaning up, Keep up the good work

  • retards vandalising history

  • bless you for taking care of supertramps last home

  • The bus was left there by the workers who used the road for a project that was halted due to the ice being unthawable. They left it as a shelter for hunters.

  • whats the bus for and why was it placed there and HOW did it even get there

  • @dyllon31 google christoffer mccandles, see the movie "into the wild" or read the book about him! ;) its a great movie. you should see it.

  • Thank you for cleaning up

  • What's the story behind the bus anyways? Sorry, I'm new to it.

  • @dinmagic Watch the film into the wild,

  • i cannot believe someone so heartless would destroy something that means allot to some people... it literally makes me sick. bless you for cleaning up

  • @TagginUpHollywoodxD

    email me

  • ok wats your email lol

  • awesome video and props to you for playing caretaker

  • That's a badass trek! Mad props for keeping history fresh brah!

  • @glindo73 How else would the bus get there?

  • @Thieftastic well i had a "discussion" on here with a guy, which has now been removed for some reason??, who was claiming the bus was driven there?! Which it was not .......obviously.

  • @BroncoTopDog1 gtfo of here y are pestering people that dont want to hear your propaganda?

  • I don't know if I'm being over the top or melodramatic, but I'm really pissed off that some complete waste of air has done that to the bus- it's like a museum!! It may just be because I respect Supertramp a hefty amount, but come on. Don't take out your boredom on the bus.

  • That dogs awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • always as in the city or anywhere else people like to ruin shit;cant just go there and keep there hands off of thngs so others may someday see in tact;thats the kind of life chris was running from;so sad he had to die like that and was too sick to go get himself help;wel GOD works in mysterious ways

  • a person die there!!!!!!!!!i get a heart attack if i was there

  • @ishamar039 people die everywhere

  • Lol

  • It was interesting to watch your post since I cannot see this are easily for myself. Thank you for sharing.

  • good on you for cleaning up dude, its a shame the human race doesnt quite have the whole respect for others thing quite down pat............RIP Chris McCandless

  • good dude for cleaning up

  • i heard some one died int here and how did that bus get all the way out there?

  • @ExtinctionDemon Christopher McCandless

was the person you might be wondering

  • @SuperMrCRAZYMAN i know that i saw the movie but i didnt know if that was the same bus and the other question was how the bus got out there?

  • @ExtinctionDemon well what I know is that the producers didnt use the real bus in the movie and how did it get there know one knows it just mystery to all of us and I would like to go see the bus

  • The bus was there because when they were building the road.. the workers needed some where to sleep. .they removed the other buses when the road wasnt being worked on.. but left tht one for hunters to use

  • The bus was put there as a place for workers to sleep when they were building the road.. when the road was no longer deemed finically viable to build they took all the other buses off it.. but left tht one for hunters to use

  • there's a lot of stupid ppl all over the world...that's what happened, ppl don't give a sh*t...they just don't care about NOTHING but them...that place is part of the story of a man who really left something for all of us, and these ppl...they just don't deserve this post......Thanks for being different and cleaning up that mess...

  • NO RESPECT!! Makes me want to cry. Thank you for cleaning up.

  • Thank you for cleaning up. Stupid people that destroy thing for no reason. Piss me off to. I appreciate you. Thanks.

  • in the book hunters use it...they probably still do

  • Whats so special about the bus?

  • its where christopher mccandless spent the last few months of his life.

  • @zachbdude you saw that movie?

  • @ExtinctionDemon alot of people have, its a pretty big movie.

  • It disgusts me that someone could actually find joy in destroying what many people come to see. I mean sure Chris wasn't a president of the United States, but his story does interest enough people to keep the bus there and in decent shape.

  • I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday. How uplifting. May u live on forever Alex Supertramp

  • Were the scenes that took place in and around the bus actually filmed in the original bus ?

  • the bus of the film isnt real!!

    this is the autentic bus

  • good on you for taking the time to clean the place up, and of course thanks for giving us a look at the famous/infamous bus

  • so is the bus still there as a memorial to him?

  • thanks for cleaning up! i worry to think of what it looks like now . . .

  • i cannot understand the ignorant, shameful, childish and immature fools that went out of their way to vandalize this, at the very minimum, protected bush shelter, not to mention monument - those people should not be allowed whatsoever to be, or to live freely, for another minute, in that beautiful state.....

  • I think he embodied the age old thought that there is no guarantee, whether you are in the wild or at a desk, that you are going to see tomorrow. So why then spend the day you have today doing something you don't want to do? I don't think he wanted to die, he just lost the fear of dying.

  • He wanted to escape from the bullshit that society breeds. He was somewhere that he wasn't judged or criticized. He could've learned more skills before going out there, but he set his sight and he did it, which is more than most people do.

  • Next time let the dog take the ATV and you swim across!!!

  • @wanaraz1 I have a dog just like his ponder, and that little jaunt is nothing for him, believe me im sure ponder would much rather run and swim than ride, think about it maybe 70 lbs wet, divide by 4 legs maybe 17 lbs a leg, cool weather ,hes having a time of his life,no worrys mate.

  • @soggybuilders - I also had a yellow lab for almost 13 years. I could not keep him from the water or mud. But that dog looked a little tired and that current was strong. Every dog has it's limits.

  • props for the dog! :D

  • i'm grateful to you that you cleaned up the bus :) and that's awesome that you were filming while driving an ATV in the middle of a river! and you have a cute dog =D

  • whether he's crazy or not... NOBODY KNOWS FOR SURE

    IT'S A MYSTERYYYYYYY

  • What kinda fuckin asshole would do such a thing??

  • I really enjoyed taking this journey with you and Ponder. It's nice to know there are people like you looking after the Magic Bus. How far did you travel each time you took the trek?

  • that is just about one of the ugliest sites in the world. Somehow I pictured "Into the Wild" to be like, into the wild, you know? Not living in an old dilapidated rusty bus on the side of a ROAD thru the woods.

  • Chris McCandless just wanted to explore america,he wasn't fucking crazy you assholes.

  • Then stupid better

  • i wondered if the bus really exists...but it does exists....thats cool!

  • people are assholes, just cant leave well enough alone. chris was probably escaping from a society full of tools that would do things like this.

  • wow human beings are just disgusting... why would they do that? what did they get out of it? there's no rush... no fear of getting caught. simply to be asswipes who disrespect the dead. maybe chris will haunt their asses. r.i.p. supertramp!

  • So cool of you to clean up after the vandals.

  • you couldn't do the half of what christopher mccandless done.poor stupid

  • do you even know the story behind that bus? idiot. watch into the wild. have a little respect buddy

  • You were made in that bus! greets to your parents.

  • That was really nice of you to clean up the bus. some people can be immature and you'd think they would have more common sence and courtesy to respect the bus and the story of chris and his adventure.

  • @WhoaSnapKayla i love and respect the story and what it stands for and i would never vandalise this, but you hav to realise that people might not be disrespecting chris but just a random bus that has no meaning or significance

  • @TRAXTINKERZ how could an old rusty bus out in a nowhere not have a meaning :)

no matter whether someboday died in it or not. thats a very special thing to find an old bus in that landscape. it's already art without that special story behind it.

  • Great, man. Respect for cleaning the bus. Keep up the good work, mate!

  • That's really a shame someone had to go through and ransack the bus. I mean that is someones grave, very disrespectful!

Thanks for cleaning up the mess though!

  • That was very nice of you to clean it up. Who ever touched it might not have known the history behind it. Thanks for posting! Wish I was as lucky as you to be able to go out there!

  • im going to the bus soon, hope to meet up with the assholes who messed it up, chris just did what everyone only thinks of doing,

  • thats for sure, alot of us have thought about it but only a few get out and roll with it, jump in the deep end and pull yourself out, thats the spirit America was

founded on,it builds character, my mother

said a few months ago hope you find what your looking for, made me feel bad

for her because ive already found it

    family in new friends everywhere,,

my childhood friends call me a nomad-gypsy lol..

  • And what's the name of the nice dog which would like to speak at your camera?

  • That'd be Ponder. Named after the pine tree.

  • Thanks for the cleanup. While it didnt work out for chris, I think he did something ALOT of us admire.Trying to get back in touch with nature and away from a capitalist life we see as destructive.

  • Comes to show that the Capitalist life he was living was the only thing keeping him alive. Let the people of Alaska be masters of the Bush

  • atvs are good 4 everything:P

  • Chris tried to escape from realty ...but his dream failed, because when he died ppl found his corpse and started to speak about him, make movies, deserve his diing place .... nobody can leave the world :|

  • I don't think so. He made a sign for when people found him. Also he wrote his own story down and used his own name at the end, even though he could have just kept calling him self a fake name (stay unknown). I see the movie and his book as a way to honor him. A way for him to show others that feel the same as he did, that nothing is impossible, if you want to do something, just go! don't waist you life on something you really don't want to do.

  • whats so awsome about going to this bus?

  • Chris McCandless

  • This is basically the bus that Christopher McCandless lived in for a while. He was a college student who, after graduating college, basically took off and felt this desire to go to Alaska to be to himself because he hated what the world had become and just didn't feel like he related to or fit in with anyone (and didn't really care to, because he felt unique and apart from them, and didn't think the same way). He took a bag of rice, a gun and some supplies.

  • If I remember correctly, he spent like 100 days or more there. He began to run out of food, apparently wasn't as qualified to take care of himself as he thought, and eventually died in the bus. The movie "Into The Wild" covers all of this...very interesting movie. You should watch it if you haven't already. Very insightful. They think he may have eaten some kind of plant with mold on it, and that the mold may have hindered his digestion so he may have starved to death because of that.

  • Damn fine dog!

  • did you find who did it

  • you did a good thing cleaning that up who would do such a bad thing

  • Why did people trash the bus? WHY???? Don't they have any respect? This makes me so angry, I can't even begin to describe. There are some real ignorant people in this world who don't deserve to live.

  • Thanks you for going back and cleaning up. Chris should be remembered as a hero because he lived his dream, not talked it like most of us. Of course, as with all heroes, someone has to hate him. I dont understand where this hate comes from, Chris was simply standing up for what he believed in, and he didnt affect the lives of the people who felt the need to trash the bus. I just dont get it.

  • Unbelievable.... The people who trashed the bus are really inconsiderate. Chris was iconic, and inspiring. So many people would not have the guts to do what he did... abandoning everything that society values so much, and pursuing true personal happiness. Thanks so much for cleaning the awful mess that was thoughtlessly made.

  • That is a doggone shame. I'm fuming even behind my PC here in Amsterdam (NL). Much appreciation to you for keeping an eye on things, that bus is like Mecca to any primitivist, anticapitalist or whatever the hell we call ourselves.

  • Seriously...who would do that to the bus? I can only guess that they were just the type of people who have nothing better to be than be idiots. Maybe the site is becoming too well known for it's own good, which is sad. Kudos to you for setting things right again.

  • let the dog ride on the 4 wheeler look at its face its old give it a ride asshole what the fuck dude love the one ur with man poor dog help that poor dog out.......

  • I agree

  • I like the way that you emphasized that the bus was on an established trail. Your voice reminded me of Keith Carradine at the beginning doing a segment of "the real west"..... and kudos for restoring the bus after idiots invaded.

  • Good for you for cleaning up and putting things back where they are supposed to be. Very cool.

  • what happened to your dog after it crossed thre river i didnt see it again ahah?

  • Fucking stupid retards those who vandalized the bus... :(

  • There was a concrete driveway and letterbox at 1.05, which surprised me. Is the area becoming more developed or is it not as remote as it is portrayed?

  • that is right off the parks highway

  • wait wtf haha was the water not too deep that ur tires touched and does ur dog run the whole way?

  • I love your videos! My husband has been wanting to do what chris did, but for kinda different reasons. We would love to visit the bus, we have even talked about moving to Alaska.

  • follow the dream dude

  • How long did it take you to get to the bus by ATV from the start of the trail?

  • It somewhat depends on what you define as the start. I normally "start" from the town of Healy, head up the parks highway, and down the stampede road, which turns into the trail. It's something like 30 miles, doing that.

From the start of the trail, it's ~ an hour of reasonably heavy riding to get to the bus, with the two river crossings.

In winter, I've made the same trip in ~20 minutes on a snowmachine, going quite a bit faster.

  • god bless you for cleaning up after some stupid people who thought it would be funny to break some windows. thank you

  • I've been watching your videos for the past hour - they are great, thank you for sharing!

I probably will never get to The Bus myself, but it is awsome to see your travels. Thanks for cleaning up messes, making your videos and sharing it all... Stay safe and hug your dog for me, you are both amazing. :)

  • probably some of the douche bag locals who get pissed off about people making a hero out of chris. Kudos for cleaning it up...
