@lulzimi in guild wars 1 they were something between a counter and control mage. if you know what you would face, you'd know what spells to bring. so there were things like "if you cast an offensive spell next it will hurt you, i promise!". the GW2 Mesmer seems a not that dependant on knowledge and mroe versatile in combat style. i am really curious now!
@davias1 thnx for the info, but I've played gw1 since it was first released ;) so I know what a mesmer was :P. The Mesmer should have stayed the way it was. At the beginning the ones that could use mesmers properly were very few, which made if fun to be one.
@BurrTheKing Ya I am kinda shocked as well about the weapons. Sword, Greatsword, focus, staff and pistol. Which makes me like a Mace option on an Elemenalist!
@SabreWolf18 Yah, it seems like they turned it into a mage warrior or something. Well, it was already a pretty unique class to begin with now it stands out even more. They've done a great job making every class look awesome, no "meh" classes.
i don't like when you do a spell and it leaves butterflies flying around.

Guardian is basically a warrior with magic. When they said last profession would be controversial I figured mesmer would be mage that melee.
