  • @evilmonkey098 Youngling enjoy Them and Van Morrison for years to come you will.

  • love the outsiders best 80's movie! <3

  • is gloria a real person

  • Aye, Enjoyed I am mate. Cheers!

  • Man, this guy Van Morrison really gets around, doesn't he? I only just found out that he did the song "Moondance", which I have loved for ages.

  • Written by Van Morrison and recorded by his band, Them, in 1964. Then covered by the Patti Smith Group in 1976 on their debut album Horses.

  • :D Un gran orgullo que grandes se atributaran entre si

  • Only The Doors!

  • Van Morrison ?

  • THEM recorded this song and Van Morrison wrote the music and lyrics...simple 3 chord pattern...WFT does Patti Smith have to with this song...???

  • one of the raddest songs i know

  • Raw, crude as hell, and ranting. I'll take this version over the others, anytime.

  • Still king tone! A rave-up even in 2012!

  • Great song. Takes me back to the pirate radio (Caroline and the others) days and i was just venturing out to the world. Good music and must be a fantastic live number. Thanks for the upload.

  • Give me a fucking break. Long Live the Cadillacs.

  • COOL!!! Thanks for shearing! Those were the days...

  • Classic, Great Job!

  • i'm here because of Gloria Trillo

  • Can't enjoy this version after listening to Patti Smith, sorry Them lovers..

  • Loving this video, introduces the song and then flashes the word 'enjoy' all the way through it, just in case we forget to halfway through the song, isn't that considerate? :D

  • THE OUTSIDERS! -Melts-

  • Songfact. Wikipedia says Jimmy Page laid the guitar track for this song when it was recorded in 1964.

  • Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine.

  • @jcsorgatz Actually Van Morrison was the lead singer for Them so it would make sense that he would sing it later on in his solo career...

  • This tune should be on every radio station's playlist. Begin your day with this one, people. This is KING TONE! Thanks to Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith's old boyfriend) for putting together The Nuggets oldies compilation.

  • When I hear music like this.... It makes me realize that I was born in the wrong decade....

  • @jake20103 to have enjoyed the 60's you've had to be born in 1930 to 1952 ha ha

  • @jake20103 i know how u feel dude me too god i would have loved too see the doors jimi hendrix all the greats man janis joplin

  • Patti Smith couldn't lick Van Morrison's boots-Antdigger is a MORON. This song was writtten adn recorded by Them in the mid sixties-The Outsiders is a movie not record group

  • van morrison made tjhis song idk where u guys r getting patti smith and the outsiders

  • @1awesomeguy100, well the outsiders at least has a connection to it. But who the hell is that Patti Smith?

  • @cyberneticchaos jim morrison , listen to him sing this with his band , they were known as the doors , 9 minute version , knock the bollocks off this shit

  • @GARRY1ism, i know who the doors are, but I never knew that they had a cover of this song.

  • @cyberneticchaos they covered this ok , have you heard it yet? awesome , man , especially the longer version

  • @1awesomeguy100 Actually 'Them' made this song. van morrison covered it

  • @jcsorgatz Van Morrison WAS them. He also wrote the song!

  • haha i only know this song cuz of the outsiders

  • I always thought it was lousy that the white bread Shadows of Knight version of this song got more airplay. That version is tame. This one is dangerous.

  • These guys ripped off Patti Smith.

  • @antdigger, you sure?

  • @antdigger

Patti Smith covered the song. While I do prefer Patti Smith's version this is the original, and a very fine song at that.

  • @antdigger google van morrison's bday and then patti smith's bday and tell me how they did that.....getcha facts straight before youtubein doodoo

  • @antdigger Patti Smith is a fucking cover band

  • Comment removed

  • @antdigger Patti Smith was in the 70's, this was written by THEM in mid 60s. Learn some history before you go and write idiotic statements.

  • @tatethompson1234 speaking of idiotic statements. this song was written by Van Morrison who WAS in THEM sang this song as well with THEM

  • @antdigger They preceded Patti Smith by years...Van Morrison wrote this so who ripped off who?

  • @antdigger Patti Smith was in grade school when this came out!

  • @antdigger Are yo kidding they ripped off PattySmith.Van Morrison & the goe back to the 1960.Rock on

  • No version of any song that Van Morrison does is better without him. Ever.

  • I was disconnected from the world of music. I found You tube and voila life is good again! Thank you!

  • The original Them version of this song and the cover by Hendrix are the only two versions of this worth jamming,IMO.I thought I would like the Doors cover of it but, much to my surprise,I couldn't stand it.After that I decided to stick with two that I knew were good.

  • Iove this song, and how dally walks <3 (:

  • Listen to those drums at the end!

  • This song is what makes the outsiders good!

  • @bonosauras, no it's not

  • @cyberneticchaos this is one of the contributing factors to an absolute classic and fantastic film! Great post Thanks!

  • @scales1020, no prob.

  • @cyberneticchaos sounds a bit like the Rolling Stones lol

  • @bonosauras I think that might be taking a little bit away from the other important factors. You know, like the writing, directing, and acting.LOL!

  • Not only was there Garage Rock in the 1960's, that is the decade when it started. Garage Rock is defined by the style of music; it is a "raw form of rock and roll". The music is simple with few instruments, typically only bass guitar, electric guitar, and drums, with vocals that are very aggressive. This song is the epitome of a Garage Rock song. And It is definitely not blues.

  • There's another version of this song by Them that has way more jamming instrumentals on it.But it does not have Van Morrison on vocals. If you could take the instrumentals from that version and combine them with the vocals from this one,you would have a truly classic rock song,IMO.

  • Check out los Saicos! First punk band ever

  • this is considered blues fyi

  • BRFAVI BRAVI - PERZZO DA INCORNICIARE - LEO CLAN MILANO

  • Would hace been punk from them id more baxking

  • Reminds me of the movie The Outsiders...

  • @MoltoPiccante I don't know if mass marijuana consumption has anything to do with it,but this is the second movie that's been referenced in regards to this song, and I don't remember where it was used in this one either. Can you perhaps help me out here?

  • @TheMackdaddy31, in the begging, when they arrive at the gas station.

  • @MoltoPiccante yea it was in the movie....i love the outsiders<3

  • @mrslukebilykforever Yeah for sure great book and movie...

  • @Huggybizzak I don't remember this being in White Men Can't Jump. What part of the movie was it in?

  • outsiders...<3

  • Any beginner guitar players should learn try and learn this. I literally learned this before the song was over. I'm not a beginner but still, it was really easy.

  • greeatest song in rock'n'roll history, only ruined by the shadows of knight while everyone else that did this song personalized it-patti smith, hendrix... THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST and yes it was the flip side of "baby please don't go" on parrot records oin the USA

  • Like this if your hear because of the outsiders .(:

  • @TheLeles100 I hope that was a pun.

  • @TheLeles100 never heard of the outsiders, been listening to Van for a whole lot of years

  • the gobblers at wilmington college in ohio were required to roll around on the ground whenever they heard this song!

  • My mom used to sing this to my brother because he had a crush on our family friend, Gloria. Good memories.

  • Hot memories of the library crew circle dancing to this at the Christmas party at the Stanford House. Yea!

  • what genre is this? blues?

  • @bigbeefyballs51, rock 'n roll, but who cares.

  • @cyberneticchaos Garage rock?

  • @tritonefx, who cares man.

  • @cyberneticchaos was just sayin....

  • @cyberneticchaos they care, son

  • @MSBasic, well I don't care.

  • @tritonefx Its just rock n roll, there was no "garage rock" in the 60's

  • @DarkWarriorGaming Are you serious? 60's is when it all started. The garage rock band The Sonics were only active in the 60's.

  • @tritonefx yeah, you obviously care. It's Garage Rock.

  • @bigbeefyballs51 rhythm & blues

  • I enjoyed it, thanX

  • enjoy, INDEED..........yes!

  • After i heard this song on the outsiders i came looking up for this song.

  • @karatekidbandicoot A great book.

  • Awesome! Also check out "Gloria" by Close Enuf Band

  • Sorry folks, but JIMI HENDRIX'S version is better, in my opinion, but i am biased, he's my favourite artist, just dig his voice and guitar, wow that guitar, he made love to it very night, '' Your a woman, at least you SAY you are, your a woman, at least you LOOK like you are, your a woman at least you TASTE like you are, but your making of in BED with my guitar.'' and then he's off on a twenty minute solo, cool or WHAT.

  • Great to hear the original as far I know this was released on the B side of Baby Please Don't Go back in the 60's well it's not to often the B side ends up a being the classic great posting mate

  • You were not allowed to be a rock band in the late 60's or early 70's, unless you played "Gloria" and "Louie Louie".

  • @jpfiloramo Amen to that...First song I ever learned on the guitar (and probably the only one I mastered !!). Wipeout was another one we could not resist trying....those were the days.

  • thx for postin!

  • this suits the first scene of the outsiders

  • Think the doors vertion is more familia but this is more polite.

  • uno dei primi veri motivi beat arrivati in italia e uno dei primi cosidetti "complessi" indimenticabile incredibilmente bello ed i them incredibimente bravi, poi, pensiamo a quei tempi.............

  • cover

  • @surfside48 this is the original you idiot

  • @NightRyder101

Hey! I made A mistake! With so many versions by so many different groups, I was bound to make A wrong call. No need to use the "IDIOT" word. Lets see how your memory is when you are 63 years old.

  • BEST SONG EVER.

  • i think GLORIA WAS A GREAT BLOWJOB BABE...

  • I have heard it said that if you drop an electric guitar down the stairs

    It will play "Gloria"!

  • Early Van Morrison - the 'B' side to 'Baby, Please Don't Go'...

  • Long lost, but found again... remembers me my childhood, teenager parties back in Zurich Switzerland, broom dances inclusive, basements, saturday evenings... and of course had noe clue what the futur might bring,...

  • this is the best and only version dumbasses!

  • i think the doors have the best version

  • @wootXbox360 are you serious?

  • @jigglymig this is aweosme the only shit here is you.

  • We watched The Outsiders in school and I was the only one who knew the song.

    What a shame.

  • So did YM or the Shadows record this first-my memory isn't perfect, though this arrangement sounds more like what I remember as being original.

  • @Aerohog1

Van Morrison/Them wrote and originally performed this.

  • @Aerohog1

I was playing this version in a band long before we ever heard of the shadows of night. this is the original. believe it.
