Me too mate, if only they'd thought us this stuff in primary school I might not have dropped out by secondary. Even the teachers made me feel stupid sometimes, I absolutely hated it. Now when I use these techniques the information seems to stick. It's about time I had a crash course I think.
I always felt hopeless in school, I could read and try to memorize what happens in a chapter of a book or a math equation but it never really stuck and I always felt dumb. Then I got out of school and started learning from videos on the internet and documentaries etc and I found that I wasn't dumb at all. In fact a lot of people I know have commented on my intelligence since then. I think schools teach people what to learn and not how to learn and it's a shame. Thanks again.
alrite look do you got any techniques that just improve ur memory just plain like for example i dont wanna have to rember something to remember something else im not looking for connects to rember something just something where i could remember plain and simple without having to rember something to remember that particular thing
@TrueDominguez Their is no pill to improve memory, it takes work. Mnemonics is a technique to join new information with what you already know. You can look up the term and find more techniques.
I would be starting Uni. soon and at the end of the video you mentioned how the techniques that your mom taught you really helped you through college. My friends who are currently attending Uni also tell me that you don't have to be the smartest to be successful in Uni, its whoever has a good memory. Will a photographic memory be more useful in Uni than a person who is a auditory learner? Any advice?
@abdulaziz9988 : I have heard that people who average a "B" in college tend to do better in the real world. I am not sure this is true, but one needs to balance knowledge with understanding and the ability to budget time to succeed in college as well as life. My advice is to use techniques that work best for you and it is OK to use several. There is no single key to success. Do what you love and it will never be "WORK."
Despite heavy speculations on the credibility of photographic reading, I would recommend photographically reading material prior to studying it. Also, you can use the structures of your house, put objects in it that arn't really in your house that remind you of objects that you need to memorize. Also, you can add to your mapping by simply adding doorways that lead to other buildings you are familiar with from your house.
you know I used to do the maping technique "uncounsciously" when was younger...then at some point I stoped- thought it was stupit or sthing like this...but now I realized that there is no such a thing as photografic memory or ppl that have better memory - it is all about making conections and creating stories as to remember
Thanks for informing me about the memory mapping technique IT HELPS LOADS!!! Also thanks for responding so promptly. Also, I can't wait to possibly see a video of your take of this method one day.
Thanks for these free memory techniques... i want to learn more Mr. G... I'm Jay from Philippines... I'm also taking my bachelor degree in Education, so, I'm going to be a teacher just like you... you are an inspiration... "salamat at pagpalain ka nawa ng Panginoong Diyos"
More great ideas! When I was in high school, I used to memorize continuity in speeches by writing each paragraph in a different colour, then visualizing the patterns. I didn't know that what I was doing at the time was a recognized memory technique :)
