  • An alternative for Ubuntu 11.10...:

    if you search - KDE Plasma Desktop - and click show technical items you can get "KDE Plasma Desktop and Standard Set of Applications"

  • How do I remove this please help me!!

  • @Armydude771 Check your YouTube Inbox, I've sent you a link to the Ubuntu forum where removing KDE has been discussed.

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I subbed :)

  • @SPEARSTUDIO You're welcome, and thanks for subbing!

  • @nosis100285 From what I have been reading it doesnt appear you can install Blackbuntu over stock Ubuntu. Reason being, Blackbuntu is a custom version of Ubuntu aimed at penetration testing. And is not a different environment since it is using Gnome anyways. I suppose if you needed some of the software from Blackbuntu you could manually install it. But this is probably more time consuming than using the Blackbuntu Live CD.

  • please excuse my ignorance im new to this, is there a similar way to install blackbuntu over ubuntu 11.10 and if so can you point me in the direction?

  • @PEN81828 in a way yes, as in that when you install the kubuntu-desktop packages it also installs the extra software packages that are included if you were to use the Kubuntu Live CD. So you will see KDE based media player software, etc. being loaded. Aside from that, you can still opt to sign in and use the stock Ubuntu 11.10 desktop with Unity upon reboot (or power on, whichever applies to you). Hope this helps!

  • will this affect 11.10 itself?

  • @garbosinho I had to look up Blackbuntu as I had never heard of it. So thanks for turning me to it. I'll have to check it out in some depth for future reference. I found this concerning installing KDE in Blackbuntu (dated from 6-15-2011).

    Open Terminal and type:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports

    Then type:

    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

    This should install KDE for you. I'll also send the link to your YouTube inbox. Let me know how it works.
