    this is not a simulation of a star. It actually an arbitrary solid cylinder placed in wind that is blowing at 2 times the speed of sound (alternatively, a cylinder moving at that speed in stationary air). When this happens, a discontinuity or a shock is formed in the field. You might have seen this in videos of fighter planes. When the planes accelerate, they form a white shock surface in front of it.
