You know what? People need to get off their moral horses! i'm sure everyone has joked about something tragic at some point. Relax, doesn't mean he hates the Japanese. Although maybe he does? Who knows and who cares. Oh, and by the way, the music on this video sucks!!!
@bottomfeeder73 The only problem I could see with this is it would affect soo many people negatively. Some people it wouldn't bother, but the majority it would bother. That's why people have a problem with this.

That first joke was golden, what did you expect hes the king of too soon. The real tragedy here is a man getting fired over a few tweets. Aflac commercials are going to suck now that hes not in them. Its always funny until it happens to you, but that doesn't mean someone else isn't laughing at your misfortune.
I think they're funny. People have to lighten up. If Charlie Chaplin and Ernst Lubitsch can make films that joke about Hitler and the Holocaust while the Holocaust was still happening, Godfrey can make a few extremely mild quips about the Japanese tsunami tragedy. There's a five minute rule with comedy. If it had been less than five minutes after the story broke, he'd be an asshole, but since it wasn't, he's in the clear.
You don't see Japanese citizens in despair over this as if it was some tragedy. It's American citizens and media that are portraying this as some sob story. It's a natural disaster, these things happen, people die, and people get over it. Jokes if anything add perspective to the reality of the loss, and help to tear the mind from mourning back into reality.
People say that the best way to get over a tragedy is to laugh.. Thats all he was doing was trying to make people laugh. Shame on Gilbert? no way!! He is a shock comedian.. Thats what he does. He got fired as the Aflac duck for making outrageous comments... HAVE YOU SEEN HIS STAND UP COMEDY!!!!!!!!!!! they knew he made outrageous comments.. Aflac is nothing more than a hypocritacal company.. Laughing makes the pain go away..
@daradas9638 Why didn't he do some of his "shock humor" when he was auditioning for the part of the duck? Because there were big bucks involved so he adopted an "I'll pretend I'm not an asshole" posture. Who's the hypocrite? No, a shock comedian ain't REALLY funny until he himself has been shocked, and big time, "Japanese big" let's say. Then, like you, I'll laugh like an idiot at ANYTHING that comes out of his mouth. I hope it's radiated seawater and some of those locally grown vegetables.
Just because this happened doesn't mean we can't joke about it no matter how soon its life thinks happen and you got to still be able to laugh at things. these jokes where funny I don't think he should have got fired. Every crisis have been jokes about them so what makes this any different
@kevinarnold021692 well i dont think he should have gotten fired but people are dying over there but we dont need to be over here joking about it.not trying to pick a fight im just speaking what i feel
every joke about something that is not appropiate is obv not appropriate.

Gilbert's whole shtick (look it up) is offensive humor. That's what he does. Also he didn't open up his mouth, it was a tweet you douchebag!
Did you know the lead singer of drowning pool died? Nope, he didn't drown..lol, his body hit the floor.
Shit like that. If you don't "get it", well, then there's nothing I can do about it.
