  • Great, great song!

  • Saxophonist on this video - Raphael- his last name escapes me - says that he was never paid for his work in this video.

  • But there is still hope by the name of Adele . So even though I agree with you we must not give up because the cream always rises to the top . There will be another Gerry Rafferty , Amy , Whitney and so on . . . .keep the faith , I am .

  • they certainly dont do them like they used to. The talents out there but there's more money for the industry pumping out miming, artificially created crap were there on a wage packet not royalties. Rafferty saw the industry for the shit producing money making machine it is. Justin, Bieber, Lady GaGa - who'll be listening to that shit in 30yrs. RIP Gerry !

  • ❤♫•*❤♫•*❤♫•*❤ Just another timeless classic ❤♫•*❤♫•*❤♫•*❤

  • I love the song. The album is...well, there is not one bad song. I miss the album.

  • I didn't relate this song to my life when it first came out-but then, I was only seventeen at the time. thirty some-odd years later, it has some pretty poignant significance.

  • Now this is music!! Love the saxophone so much!!

  • Se vc ta aqui por causa do mc Diguinho - da uma joinha (Y)

  • i can remeber listening to this on my walkman waaaay baaack, after a colombian reefer, on a warm sunny spring afternoon, wow, miss that walk.

  • @jetshull what us oldies call ,hpmemade musicgoes great with goldbud

  • its almost like his lyrics were directed at me not good............

  • klobuk dole!! nadherna pesnicka :) taa melodia ma uchvatila a pripomenula mi,ze ja som tuto pesnicku uz aj davnejsie hladala :D :*

  • Jeffrey Rafferty created the most charismatic intro to any song in the cannon. That sax riff gives me goosebumps even now.

  • get goose bumps when i hear this x

  • This song is extremely poppy ... & oddly surreal at the same time. Very evocative of the era, especially since I went to college a stone's throw from Baker's Street at the time the song was released.

  • It's an ALTO Sax. Just sayin.

  • Ahhhh there we go! Now this is music.

  • PLEASE NOTE: Bob Holness DID NOT play the tenor sax break on this song—It was played by Raphael Ravenscroft. Bob Holness is not a musician and has absolutely no connection with either Baker Street or Gerry Rafferty or Tenor Saxophones.

The myth that Bob Holness plays the sax in this song, is an urban legend: In other words, it's total 100% BULLSHIT!!!

  • looooooooooove this !

  • RIP Bob Holness.

  • @SuperRobertoboy Bob Holness had NOTHING to do with this song or Gerry Rafferty—The sax break is by Raphael Ravenscroft!

  • Lisa did this in the simpsons, and in the style of comic book guy, Best.sax.song.ever.

  • Love the way Hughie Burns makes that strat sing!!!

  • I cant even express to you people how much I love this fucking song. If it were possible to eat sound, I would eat this everyday and every night.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • what woodwind instruments are in this

  • LOVE IT!

  • This and "Miss You" by the Stones were the songs of the Summer of 78. Never forget it. I could be wrong, but "Miss You" kept this out of #1 in America and it hit #2.

  • Absolute Classic *****

  • Gerry had exceptional talent which rose above the exceptional difficulties he experienced in his life. He remained true to himself, keeping it all about the music and his craft rather than being seduced by the world of celebrity and pop stardom. God Bless You Gerry Rafferty and the family you've left behind for now. xxx

  • the sax definetley makes this song besides gerry's proness.

  • yes....!!!! i have finally found the song!!! the greatest tune ever.

  • gerry, RIP from an alltime fan WE WERE PAISLEY BUDDIES!

  • im 14 and this has got to be one of may all time favourite songs!

  • It is great to listen this masterpiece again after so many years. It puts to shame the crap

we have had to endure since. I will play it again. TEDWIL (84)

  • this vid has the least dislike, one of my favourite and best sax solo

  • This is why I like sax music.

  • Robert California before he was CEO of Dunder Mifflin.

  • great song

  • That sax riff is the kitschiest piece of music I've ever heard! :)

  • WHATS ALL THE FUSS ABOUT BAKER STREET. I'VE WALKED ALONG THERE PLENTY OF TIMES...FILLED WITH FUZZY WAZZIES...LIKE AN OPEN SEWER

  • He looks like Lennon

  • whydo people so greatdie young!!!

  • @hellion741 In Rafferty's case I think it was inevitably alcohol.

  • A perfect song!

  • F....I love this song..

  • Ravenscroft says the sax he played is mostly "an old blues riff". Does anyone know the original composer / player of this riff?

  • Classic! This video/song has: Great music/musicians/melody and solos, meaningful lyrics, and a haunting feel. What this song/video is lacking circa 2012: No one is running around, making faces, grabbing their privates or throwing gang signs. There's no army of background dancers. Not one mention of a b*tch or ho. No pentagrams, skulls, spiders, or snakes & no simulated or real sex acts. It wouldn't get air-play anywhere if it was released today. : ) Did I mention it's a great song?

  • this song is a shit but the saxo is awesome

  • @SuperJoan1998 If you feel that way, then I feel sorry for you!

  • @The19tony55 sorry for that, i didn't published that ... it was a frend of mine that did; had to change my password. but do'nt feel sorry for me, 'cause i don't think that way

  • @SuperJoan1998 Thank you for clearing that up !,I am no longer feel that way.I hope your friend knows better now too.

  • @The19tony55 yes he does

agree me ...,...,... if you want

  • How in the world could you dislike this song???? 91 people have no heart or soul.....

  • It started as a wake and bake... originally... but then it became a Chia pet. if I added nothing- it died. But if I added something- it grew. Who knew something that was written from the personal experiences of a man whose only way to grow was to simply express it in a song would have such a lasting imprint? This song is a written testimony of a man who has experienced much of the same trials and tribunals many of us face everyday- back then as much as now. Change isn't as dramatic as some make

  • wake and bake street

  • If you really appreciate artists and musicians and if you think you can judge any single song of Gerry Rafferty's and be an experienced critic of any standing ...you fekn deluded!!!!! Listen to the body of work the man created long before you were ..probably!

  • 91 dislikes they don.t know good music when they here it

  • Gerry's Baker Street is just of just a very few songs that made my A-LIST of the greatest songs of all time. I hope Gerry found his Baker Street upon his passing RIP.

  • When I was a kid I used to play the sax. I listened to Lisas solo version of the song and I could never find it. One day I was in the car with friends and heard this song I cannot explain the feeling when I heard what reminded me of my childhood and those days in which I used to play my squeaky sax.

  • 91 people need a hi five....to the face, with a sledgehammer!

  • @Olliesmydog That is the f......... truth!

  • @Olliesmydog i agree 100%

  • @Olliesmydog actualy people like you need that hammer in your faces! your provoking those idiots!

  • @rankomania Got your knickers in a knot this morning? Ease up fool....

  • @rankomania Actually, you're right

  • @Olliesmydog im cool bro, as long there are cunts like you who suck dicks for likes!

  • @rankomania You are a class act aren't you. Now get off your dad's computer and go do your homework!

  • @rankomania you are a horrible person

  • @Olliesmydog I love that song, but that's Peter Gabriel, not Gerry Rafferty.

  • @wheresmyhouse1 Yes...LOL. Thanks for the laugh:-)

  • This has to be the most recognizable saxophone line ever!

  • Fuck! All the people who wrote the soundtrack to my teens are going. Must be getting old...

  • @BobTheMunificent yes me to!

  • @BobTheMunificent Have you seen Michelle Phillips lately?.....Stevie Nicks?

Kind of sucks getting old....but at least we have something to hang over our kids and grandkids in that they keep LISTENING to what we listened to.......

  • @ranjva54 Stevie Nicks still looks like she's in her early 40s. As a matter of fact, Fleetwood Mac is going back on tour this year.

  • this is pure talent compaired to todays wannabes

  • LOL @ Jamester1991

  • luv that sax

  • i love the sax!! <3

  • This track belongs in a small group of the best songs ever written, would be in my all time top 10 easy.^^

  • @Futurist1972 agree totally...wish I could get Sherlock Holmes outta my head though! Sax isn't in many rock songs!!

  • @kstuartkent Now you got me doing it lol, 'tis all good^^

  • E os filhas da puta do funk carioca colocaram um classico como esse como introdução de mais um dos funks mais podres das desgraças das favelas cariocas... OMG

  • if i was so lucky to have one hit like this.......my dog and my cat just ran from the room, guess they see i cant play for crap......

  • Man, that intro trips me out every time. Sounds like it's being played backwards or something. Very cool tune. That guitar solo is killer. The video should've shown more of the other musicians though.

  • That sax is sex! Awesome!!!!!!! RIP Gerry Rafferty, your legacy will be left on earth forever!

  • Gerry Rafferty 3,408,244 hits

    Justin Bieber 378,983,916,478,267,637 hits

What the fuck is wrong with this world ?????

  • @zargonstaff Lots of unmature kid.

  • That sax always gives me the chills.

  • Rapael Ravenscrof has stated publicly that he wrote most of the Sax lead...in response Gerry had a guitar only version released recently...that was pre-baker street outtakes...has anyone heard it? My understanding is that Gerry would have done nothing less than compose every part of his songs....

  • I think only Gerry Rafferty could make a bald dummer in bib-overalls seem cool... ;)

  • RIP BOB HOLNESS

  • Just one more year and you'll be happy....

  • On my body written, and I'm almost 50!!

  • I agree with all the recent comments. I don't think anyone could have made a more relevant song, it seemed like it was just written for me, and yet, so many people identify with it. It is our song. I'm 56 now but it still gets me and the music is just superb.

  • 91 people want to live on baker street.

  • omfg i love this

  • There is something wrong with 91 people.

  • rip

  • When I heard the sax part on the Simpsons I was sold.

  • I always think of this song when I go well off the rails. Give up the booze and the one night stands. Yep.

  • @Hjhayes2000 haha but we know we always keep running, cause where roling where the roling stone !!!

  • I almost have to pull over whenever Baker Street comes on the car radio because it always takes me somewhere else mentally. It came out at a time when I was struggling with career disappointments (when I "thought it held everything") and decisions..about settling "down in some quiet little town"...What a powerful song. Gerry, you left us way too early. RIP Mr. Rafferty.

  • If only Gerry had been able to "give up the booze and the one-night stands" like the autobiographical character in this classic song; he would still be with us. Cannot get burned out on any of his music, but this one brings tears every time. Strangely prescient of his life, it is melancholy but somehow uplifting and hopeful all at once.

  • WOW,WHAT A WONDERFUL SONG,FEEL SORRY FOR THE YOUNGSTERS TODAY,NO DECENT MUSIC SINCE 1989 HAHA

  • If you do not like this song...."Your Cryin Now"

  • This song has one of the most tasteful guitar solos in all of rock music.

  • @mediaevalguitartab What about the saxomofon?

  • Smiling and crying at the same time with the nostalgia and plaintive quality of this classic. Sax riffs are incomparable.

  • again a classic tune wow what sax intro love this song

  • I can't help getting chills every time the sax part starts. In fact I spent about 5 years looking for this song until I found it on Youtube. And it was worth it. :3

  • I think this has to be my favourite song of the 70s. I was living in Seymour Place a few streets up from Baker Street. I could cry when I hear this song.
