  • As an eighties teen who spent a couple of decades in musical mourning thereafter, it's great to see such quirky pride ;-) in the musical sophistication that electronic music has always afforded and amazing just how much crap has been slung at the genre by the likes of upstart Indy rock fans.

Just starting to catch-up and look around at what's happening these days...any leads to 'must check-out' musicians not listed among my handful of vids favourite'd would be much appreciated...

  • Starts to sing along My favorite video and song sooo Catchy and sooo much fun

  • I've lost track of how many times I've listened to this. I've probably starting singing along to it be the 3rd time. Love it.

  • Great Song!

  • Great Song! And funny Video! :)

  • Great song! And funny Video!

  • I am a composer of "classical" music, pseudo-producer of music, studied composition and piano at a conservatory, was a bachelor, and even impresses me my reaction, because instead of commenting on something truly constructive, I reiterate my comment that only I can say, WOW, definitely, I'm your fan.

  • I completely agree with you.

  • i just can say WOOOOOOOW!!!!

  • I find myself constantly comming back for yet another listen to this song its just great!!!!!

  • Better than JLS

  • continue dancing alone

  • Brilliant! Humour and the song itself are brilliant! Both!!! ;))) Respect!

  • Really nice song!

  • Great song! Nice to see not everyone has converted to using only software synths. Nothing beats having a real piece of equipment in front of you in my opinion.

  • I enjoyed this a lot, great stuff.

Yes, in 1983 this style of music peaked, then the MIDI era arrived.

That Oberheim sounds magical. Very "New Gold Dream" by Simple Minds.

  • Great analog feeling.

    Sounds good!

  • Congratulations! with this wonderfull analogue synth project!!

I like the analog synth sound, good arpeggio, not "too much filled"with many strings.

Even you sing very well and looks like a Human League.

    Go on!!!!!

    kind regards from Holland

    Peter

  • Great analog sounded synthesizer music!!!!!

Synth pop has never been away.

  • Brilliantly produced piece of work. Totally captures the era. A very dismissed and forgotten time in music. More!

  • Thats a big keyboard :|

  • song, lycris, video edit, the guy...wonderfull. i want hear other songs! valeu!!!

  • I Love both the song and the video yes

    synthpop is Alive !

    Forever!!!!!

  • o:

i spy a gary numan poster.

  • 1:53 ... 1983 ... yeahh ...

  • Brilliant!

  • Why not throw in a harpsichord to compliment your music? These days, you can get a small, chinese made harpsichord relatively inexpensive but sorta like comparing a yukalaylee to 6 string stratocaster if you've ever heard the real thing, but it will work. It might be fun too. tinkalinkadinkydink :p

Anyway, good work. I like it.

  • This is brilliant!

  • FAN Tastic!

  • Wow, This is song and video is Absolutely Brilliant!! Yes, Synth Pop is alive once again, thanks to you!!

  • This wonderful production gave the final meaning to me identifying synthpop.

Thanks for existing my friend,i wish many many many productive years for you:)

  • I love this vid! Great music, great style - it makes me smile!

  • I was so confused at first. But that was great! Funny shit!

  • who tha f#$%k is this guy ? please stop...

  • i love synth pop but i'm not a nostalgic. i think that everything made with synths is simply amazing. this rules....

  • Wonderful!. Congratulations!

  • Love it!!!

  • naprostá pecka super!!!!!

  • That was great! Love it.

  • Good song. It may be a parady or what not....but its got a ring to it.

  • there is nothing wrong with you sprockets blackshirt or your haircut! you are exactly normal!

  • there is nothing wrong with you sprockets blackshirt or your haircut! you are exactly normal!

  • Can you read this rocketshipstud6 ?? PLEASE STOP SENDING ME YOUR VIDEOS, Thank you.

  • I deeply respect what you mean by ( "not your cup of tea")...since 1979 I play my flutes in foggy graveyards for the dead....(insane preppy people demanded I do it in the marching band!..wtf!.) flute off big tombstones is fantastic acoustics and ghosts need music too...

  • dear clark thanks I got your memo...but its my understanding that the hatsune miku software...the girlvoice is already inside the software!...you pretype in the words lyrics "mary had a little lamb..." and the puppet voice software girl sings the lyrics( your singing voice is excellent you could do a duet?) read up on it for fun anyway...i can't draft you.../ peterjay @ milwaukee

  • Thanks, man! What can I say... except, you are my inspiration! LOL Views of your video also continue to outnumber mine by a margin of nearly 2:1 ... so... I am humbled! No hard feelings!

  • Maybe he's doing a parody of the style at the time. Was this a reaction against the fury of punk a few years earlier? I still think a singer needs to tell a story. I was told by a classical singer that every phrase should go somewhere. What's the most important word? How will you colour the words? What dynamics will you use? How long are the silences between notes? What can you vary on each performance? You might know a song but there's all this to explore!

  • I would fully agree with your classical singer friend -- if I were singing classical music! But one of the keys to good technique is knowing when NOT to use it (assuming one even has it in the first place). In other words, even if I were a properly trained singer (which I am not), a refined vocal technique would be inappropriate for this genre, I feel. While I would be the first to admit there's a LOT of room for improvement regarding my singing, I would never want it to become TOO GOOD!

  • @Laura041974

good comment, but at the same time I agree with maisonvague. We have 2010, and the golden age of synth pop has gone. So he is telling the same thing as rockers, punks and other addicts are saying: it's not dead!

By the way, I'm also a relict of New Wave and synth pop, so I can confirm it's not dead!

  • @Laura041974 In case of synthpop, synths are the ones telling the story with their sounds more than vocalist. Kraftwerk's "The Robot" is a good example: not virtuosist voices but a great synth sound :)

  • dear genius maison...we need you to create and post synthpop fan songs for project diva...hatsune miku..first sound of the future...fans create the songs with her software...you can have your revenge on the entire music world for she is our godzilla unleashed on their childrens psp!...(i can't do it with my $200 flutes)...you are the starting quarterback for our team!...get into the ballgame if you can please?...and drag others along...

  • Good effort son!

    Synthpop`s alive...!!!!

    Lovin the hair too ;-)

  • you are my youtube hero and a living legend!...the insults to synthpop technopop and j-pop will be avenged my brother!...(you play music very well...i own 3 flutes and play lame after 3 decades of practice!...lol)/ @ milwaukee

  • the revenge of synthpop technopop is hatsune miku (new sound future ) of project diva...the vocaloid...green-eyed-green-haired girl of jpop and anime...trust me my cyborg sprockets children you are alive and she is on a godzilla rampage of revenge on youtube!...trust me! /milwaukee big-80s stud

  • Thats right, you tell em!!!

  • I first sae this video over a year ago its one of the very very best on youtube!...i was born in 1965 and still wear sprockets black mosleys when I want to be cool or futurismo...(futurist)...the greatest monument to the big-80s!...we were just lightyears ahead of our time!...

  • This is a witty ditty. The backing is good and cleverly put together but you need to try using your voice in a more expressive way. Your breath is your envelope generator and your mouth and tongue your filter! Play them as you would a synth!

  • Sounds Good, I was enjoyed with this song, it is very SYNTH POP ALIVE:.. :-D 80´s Forever...

  • HELL YEAH!

    80's SYNTH POP RULES. :)

Keeping the 80s and synths alive forever!

    :) TSF

  • I wish I could give this song 1000 stars!!! :D My new feel good theme.

  • Nice job dude! Better than the "other" video...no more BNI self promotion please! Thank you!

    Mr. !

  • Poster of the King of Synthpop in the bg ;-)

Excellent, who said the 80's were over.

I might be able to figure out how to create a tune, but I couldn't sing worth shit...

  • Brilliant mate!

  • You never disappoint! I just knew whatever sound that appeared to be coming from the XP-60, wasn't in mine. I should have know it would be something else via midi. Excellent vintage synth orchestration, very well played, blowns Gary Numan out of the water. Thanks again for your talent and inspiration.

  • I Love it.

It's great to see the old synths in action.

Especially the Roland CompuRhythm CR-8000 and Jupiter 4.

Do you use the SR-JV80-04 vintage expansion in your XP-60 for the strings @ 3:34 ?

  • Thanks! Actually, I'm only using the XP-60 in this track to control an Arturia Minimoog V. Hope you're not disappointed! LOL The XP-60 will be making an appearance, however, on my upcoming album, using sounds from both the Vintage Synth and Dance Expansion boards.

  • That was AWESOM!!!!

  • Gary Numan was my old hero, you're my new one.

Well done indeed! Love the classic synths.

    Brilliantly creative.

  • 5¤¤¤¤!!

  • It's nice to know that there are other people in this world who love synthpop! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

  • this is really awesome. nice synth collection. classics. do you happen to have a jd-800?

  • thanks! no, I don't have a JD-800. would be great to have, though!

  • Brilliant!

  • This is FXXXING SWEET!

  • Brilliant!

  • love the video and the music, keep it up..!

    synthpop is indeed alive

lets hope it stays that way..!

  • is that an OB-xa in the background ?

  • Indeed it is. The keyboard solo about midway through the video is being played on the OB-Xa. The rack (from top to bottom): JP-8000, XP-60, OB-Xa, Jupiter-4

  • Yes,synth pop isnt dead!!

    synth pop's alive!!

  • This song is absolutely amazing. The phone call is the best bit! Well done, synthpop is very much alive ^^

  • this is magnificent.

  • Fantastic track, superpoppy! Well done! :-)

  • And It's always going to be alive to me! :D

  • Love You! :D

  • gear

  • lol,, nice song, and kool studio u have there!

interesting fx on the vox. what did u use?

  • Thanks! Actually, the fx are accidental! I double tracked the lead vocals, panned them hard L and R, but when broadcast over YouTube in mono, it becomes a kinda weird chorus effect. Not at all what I planned. LOL Anyway, for the CD version, I'm ditching the double tracked vox altogether, and just going for a mono lead. Monophony rules!

  • thats great, I look forward to hearing more. keep up the good work, Yes synthpop is alive! ;-)

  • clark...loveya loveya loveya!!!!

  • Hello Maisonvague !

I'm a last, and the only synthpop musician with my friend in Hungary. Please give me a contact, for the collaboration!!!

    Thank you!!!!

  • Congratulation for the video!!!!

    And the music too....

  • Hey this song is very cool man! It's sounds like a track right out of the 80's. And in my book that a good thing!

  • I completely agree with this song being a major synthpop fan myself, Everyone else I know sings modern day crapy music, were all the songs sound the same, and if I say I like synthpop, no one has heard of it. I can't really go to clubs because they don't play decent synthpop songs. Don't worry though I reckon the 2010's will be a new decade of synthpop.
