  • When we are acting from our Integrity, what we could call our authentic self, we don’t try. We don’t’ have a need to try. We just take action. We don’t concern ourselves with whether what we are doing is the right thing. We also don’t have a need to justify or defend what we are doing to anybody. This includes ourselves

  • wtf--whats with the music...why destroy the speech?

  • i have a question does the jr in his name mean junior?

  • thank you martin

  • @TheAwsomeFoundation theproblem is that passage from the bible is often used to make people submissive andserve rather than fight back. It isoftn used to make womenstay subservient for example by telling them that they r great in doing so. Serving is only good if you have the power to sayno but choose to do it still this power can only come if you have knowledge, If 1 is noteducated s/he is not serving, but slaving awayknowledge is power. without knowedge u can never serve like kingwants us2

  • @KingsleyEnnis1 bless you ...im black but love conquers all.....love you in JESUS name

  • Inspiring!!!! One (minor) correction... this was not a speech....it was a sermon based on scripture from the book of Mark 10:43...MLK took the words of Jesus and made them real...he preached them and he lived them...

  • Amen!

  • You have no idea on how much this words helped me to be who I am..

  • all by a man who was addicted to hookers

  • At least his death was not vain, for through his death he has become a great inspiration too us all. I only wish someone even greater than King will eventually come to this world. Well, someone probably already has, we just don't realize it yet.

  • Wow, Dr. King was a truly phenomenal speaker, lest we forget. MLK Day is a wonderful institution if for nothing else than getting someone like me to come upon these words and swell. This is a terrific message, worded passionately. God bless, Dr. King. Your memory lives on.

  • he definately had the qualities to become the greatest president we never had. I believe if he was still alive today he would have became President sometime within the 80's to present

  • "There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love"... :-)

  • Great words by a great man who served and continue 2 do so

  • Yes he was a great man inspired by God and to serve others!!!

  • I think you missed the whole point. Educated people do serve. We are called to give and help other's in need. This is is what he was trying to communicate. That great people do serve.

  • @andyvivanco theproblem is that that passage from the bible is often used to make people submissive andserve rather than fight back. • @AuDacitYofTruTh obviously thus dude is like a freakin' World of Warcraft gamer who can't understand that You don't have to be smart, rich, stronger than anyone to serve, to help. Please don't watch these videos if all you are going to do is spark a racial and political debate on all of this.

  • i love this.. i will use this in my next speech..i love you dr. king

  • What an Honorable Man,A Couragous Man & A Man with a Spoken Word. Rest Peacefuly Dr Martin Luther King Jr. I know hes looking down smiling.

  • Yes. He was!

  • I absolutely was overcome with Joy to hear n read this.A Native Woman of long ago..still walking.

  • Thanks for posting this.

Today I shall "serve" by going to a hospital here in Los Angeles County with my "therapy dog"--a pit bull, no less.

Everybody can serve. OBAMA just quoted "everbody can be great because anybody can serve" this morning.

  • Yes! He got that phrase from Dr. King!

  • These words are by far the most powerful words that Dr. King Jr. ever spoke. Timeless and essential message... Thank you so much for sharing this! Blessings.

  • You're welcome! Dr. King message is timeless and powerful!

  • I really like the music -- what's it called?

  • I am glad you liked the music. It is "untitled" original work that I put together.

  • this speech can be interpreted in many ways, Eastern philosophical thought ( buddhism) far before the story of jesus, put emphasis on serving others and being totally selfless. This helps those seeking enlightenment accept the present moment as the truth and realization that enlightenment isn't something we are seeking but something that is always there.

Mohammed is Jesus as Buddha is Love is the way I see it.

  • Yes, you can interpret it if you'd like, but Dr. King was referring to Jesus Christ in regards to this message. And Mohammed is not Jesus and vice versa, but Buddha can be love. Thanks for the comment.

  • In Islam there is problem with God becoming man, because "Allah Akbar" "God is great." But I say, if God is truly great, than He had to serve and love, and the most powerful great way He did this in human history was in the person of Jesus - Word became flesh - God with skin.

I don't know what Mohammed or Buddha did for you, but I can sure tell you what Jesus did for me. He set me free.

  • nice going, the music is what sets me free.

  • where can I get this entire audio speech?

  • Not available anymore.

  • ...and you don't need to see Jesus to love him.

(Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. 1 Peter verse 8) Thank God my eyes were opened

  • thank god im a christian....thats jesus message

  • You are correct in saying that it is about serving others, but in doing so, we do actually serve God. To love and care for others is also to love God. It is the greatest commandment we are given as humans. To love God and to love others. We must lay down our selfish ambitions and give back to those in need. Jesus Christ is our role model for this. This was the essance of Dr. Kings speech.

  • I am sure Dr. King, of all people, would understand the importance of a society tolerant of racial and religious diversity.

  • He whom believes in Jesus Christ will tell you that there is only one God and wouldn't tolerate religious diversity outside of christian belifs.

  • Well then, I miss spoke about Dr. King.

He who believes in Jesus Christ is at odds then with half of the people on this planet (including myself). This is an antiquated worldview born in a time when the world was flat. In the absence of tolerance for Religious Diversity the world is kept fertile for wars over idealogy.

Thank God I'm an Athiest ;)

  • Regarding xthatblackidx

There is no one God, just one people believing in many gods.

    Get over yourself.

  • There is only one creator, one God...we may call him different names but there's only one.

  • Organized religion has too many problems.

I am an evolutionist. Creationists confuse me (I am not saying you are one). We burn 85 billion barrels of million-year-old decayed organic matter a day (oil) yet they seem to think that God put it there 4,000 years ago.

Thank God I'm an athiest ;)

  • Hi Caveman Person! Thanks for your thoughts. I read you are an atheist. How do you know God doesn't exist? And can you elaborate on "one people" believing in many gods? What do you mean by that? Thanks.

  • This man was a loyal servant of God.

  • MLK Jr and Malcolm X taught us a lot. The two most important things that I have learned from them are "We Can Change the World via Community Service" and "We must always be aware of how they ("They" meaning the Shadow Government) try to divide and conquer." I left a video response that speaks of "The Community Service Challenge" that I have issued to all people. Together our actions of love and equality can change the world.

  • He was a Pastor, he speaks of serving the Lord. We serve the Lord by serving those in need. Yes, Community Service...and so much more. He was a man of God and he served the Lord by fighting opression among his people and many others as well.

  • Jesus was the son of God and yet was a servant among us.

  • where can I get this full speech in audio?

  • A true Christian South Africa must see

    watch?v=LZsYSH4f9QQ

  • This man was a Genius.

    Genius living amongst us.

    Why i love Oprah,

Oprah says:Absolute, Indescribable, Hugeness of that which we call God.Which is non other than the God of Abraham.

Oprah You Rock. You know, because You are prepared to think.

    The world loves Oprah.

  • She has denied Jesus. She's involved in a religious cult. She knows nothing of God and anyone who denies Jesus denies God.

  • Martin Luther King ROCKS!!!!!

  • Martin Luther King is and always will be a Fonominal and Extrodinary Leader and will NEVER be Forgotten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    R.I.P

    xoxox

  • br?

  • br?

  • J. Edgar Hoover was the homosexual; the US government is the biggest Con of them all; they are the villians, and will be judged by the content of their character; name one president, other than JFK and Lincoln, that didn't have a secret Agenda. Come on. You'd argue the FBI over King. I have a file on the US that's over 10,000 pages long, and it'll never see the light of day.

  • Thank you buckingbull is full of bull... show me

the pages Hoover wanted the smudge and destroy the movement not exactly credible. Nice disinformation but if this was true why didn't Hoover slam it down... ask yourself that was he so empathetic with the negro of the day... jesh.

  • So you want to famous?

Quite possibly the greatest speech of all time.

  • Yes I would agree!

  • MartinlutherkingDOTorg

    learn the truth...

  • I am shocked that there are people like you that still believe in this propaganda. Dr. King wasn't perfect, but he lead courageously and for freedom and the rights of others.

  • you are creeping everyone out buddy

  • Ah, neo-nazis. Go figure. AryanBlitzkrieg? *shakes head* They are still around, unfortunately.

  • "Until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream" - MLK.

MLK fought injustice against blacks but could not stop the injustice of the Rwanda Genocide where 56,000 blacks were killed each week.

MLK would have a led a protest in week one.

Instead, without MLK, with Clinton, over 800,000 blacks died needlessly.

No protests. No justice. Surprisingly, many blacks support Clinton's return to the White House.

As Marvin Gaye asked, "What's Going On?"

  • I agree. Very unfortunate.

  • When will have another great "TRUE" leader again?

  • I would love to use this video as well--where can I download it from?

  • This is even more powerful because MLK Jr. lived according to this message. He didn't just say it and so deceive himself or anyone else--he served with everything he had.

  • I agree! Hi is an inspiration and a modern day hero!

  • Hi Andy is this audio available for download yet?

  • Andy V, where can this be downloaded from?

  • wow...that really says something that today's culture goes completely against. Serve? Who does that these days? I don't think Dr. King was speaking of doing charity work in our spare time, but something much deeper. Something that flows out of one's heart- and they act on it even if it means not being the most popular, the most wealthy or the most influential. THAT'S servanthood

  • I agree!

  • I am not sure one could have said this better!!!!

  • is it possible that you can let me download this and use it at my school?

  • Yes. I am posting it on a downloadable site soon! Andy V.

  • Honestly...how amazing is this? If only the world could open their eyes and hear what he has to say...or even...what we have to say? The servants...the true people...who serve...

  • Servants are the greatest people!

  • Yes servants are the greatest people!

  • amazing

  • Yes. Dr. King was amazing! His influence still resonates today. 40 years later!!!! This year marks the 40th year of his death.

  • WOW, UNBELIEVABLE!!! What a really great speech. A man a head of his time, a man who was in touch with what life is about, a man blessed. Thanks for this video. 5 stars

  • I agree! Thank you for your comments!

  • This was something Jesus also said and did 2000 years ago.

  • kylehunt, I don't understand your reference to Jesus. Are you comparing King to Jesus?

  • well someone said MLK was ahead of his time and I was just noting that he was in fact doing what Jesus did 2000 years ago.

  • Yes!! This was the premise of Dr. Kings Sermon!

  • Dr. King began his "The Drum Major Instinct" from Mark 10:35. He used Jesus Christ as his role model and in turn tranformed a culture and a world thru his service. If we can only serve like Christ and His calling for our lives.

  • is that the title of this speech? I would like to hear the whole thing.

  • Yes the title is The Drum Major Instinct. I will send you a link to the documented version. I have not found the entire recorded speech. Thanks!

  • Personally I don't see as much wisdom in that book as I see in "The Drum Major Instinct" but then again I could be wrong.

  • Which book are you talking about? Thanks!

  • very inspiring. thanks for posting. showin it to all friends. is there any way i can put this on cd or an ipod?

  • Please take a moment to view "Drum Major Instinct", which goes in dept on Dr. King. We can, collectively, realize his dream.

  • Good but i don't remember this being a part of the "Drum Major Instinct" speech.

  • Yes, this was an excerpt.

  • Simply moving...

  • I love this!!!! thank you for posting this!!!!

  • You're welcome!! Thank you. The words of Dr. King still have much influence, and inspires us all!

  • Too bad Martin Luther King was a population control supporter and very pro-abortion. If he had lived long enough he would have praised Roe vs. Wade and marched strongly with the pro-choice movement. He even said that the most sorrowful thing was for a child to be unwanted.

  • But Martin Luther King granddaughter is very strong in operation outcry; she had an abortion and is a very strong voice in trying to get roe v. wade overturned. The highest aborting in the US in ethic group is in the blacks, Margit Sanger set it up that way, and she was very races.

  • Are you talking about Alveda King? She is his niece. MLK jr. got the Margaret Sanger Award and was her choice for the pastor to lead the Negro Project.

  • Let me find her on the web and I will send it to you I think your right on that one.

  • This is incredibly moving.

  • I agree. I think Dr. King is an inspriration. His words have such an impact on us and our society. Thanks for the comment.

  • can you download these files to your computer?

  • You should be able to. There are various programs that allow you to do this.

  • I believe you can, you just need the software.

  • Kentucky Attourney General Greg Stumbo & his Aryan Nation & KKK friends( ARE Official Capicity MURDERERS)& their US 6th district friends,( KENTUCKY IS NO LONGER SAFE WITH KILL FARMS,CIA & FBI-(GET PASSPORTS ASAP!) I AM A WITNESS ! THEIR IS NO JUSTICE IN KENTUCKY ! WASHINGTON DC. KNOWS & DONT CARE BECAUSE THEY ARE PART OF IT !

  • So what happend in Kentucky?

  • Excellent video. Very inspiring words

  • Glad you liked the vdeo. Dr. King is one of my heros and I wanted to pay tribute. I also enjoyed his message about serving. In order to improve humanity we must serve. Thanks again!

  • I really do not think the words of Dr.King are enhanced by musical diatribe.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I happen to like it. I especially like the song from the film "Freedom Writers", they actually did a better job at this. You should check it out some time.

  • We must remember and pay tripute to this great man and leader. He transformed an entire nation and attidute towards the human race. We are all great when we serve. Blessings on MLK Day!
