  • Baby Burrito! 8D

  • that is so cool I almost want a baby just so I can try this and I will definitly use this technique when I do finally have one

  • WOWWWW

  • Ayee

  • It shuts him the fuck up like magic and it's scares me, it's like making him a zomby lol.

  • that really works. cause the shhhhhh sound is what babies hear while in the womb.

  • Amazing! It calms this lovely baby!

  • I watch the baby at night and work during the day. Thank you, you have saved me from psycosis due to sleep deprivation.

  • @Jiminallofhisglory So, it really works? :D

  • @tonny1997 Yes. You may think that rocking the baby so quickly would bother it, but it won't, they love it. It also doesn't seem to bother them when you "shhhhhh" in their ear loudly either, they want you to. This works, proven.

  • only 1 question: how long did you have to do this?

  • wow!can i borrow you to keep my son shut?

  • Your baby-fu is strong indeed...

  • a la vitesse qu'il va je comprend que la petite arrete! criss est tromatisée

  • Like it!! I used to do the same thing with my first daughter!!

  • very good technique!! How do you keep from wrapping too tight?

  • Thats great!!.. I've learned new technique(^_-)But what if my twins cry at the same time?(^_^)

  • @bHaZet Oh you'r so fucked up lol

  • excellent job dad!!!

that is very close to the same 'whoosh' sound that the baby hears in the womb......

  • wow amazing

  • You really know how to activate those calming reflexes. Good job!

  • awwwwwww how sweet.........good daddy!!!!!!!

  • Been watching a lot of swaddling videos and you break the record from fussy to calm and quite. You did that in less than a minute, very impressed.

  • unbeliveable! dr karp would be proud! good for u

  • Like magic! Love that you're wearing a wrap too! You seem like a great daddy!

  • ADORABLE!!

  • Good job! Im horrible at swaddling.

  • THATS A GIRL? hahah

  • @billiedanny Seriously, don't be a douchebag, ok?

  • All of my children have used this on by grand babies. It is amazing and the babies have less fussiness over all.

  • To calm your baby naturally, you have simply *got to* go to my profile :)

  • A quiet place that is dark and warm is the best way to calm a baby. The crib can calm a baby if a blankey is placed over the top.

  • SUPER DAD TO THE RESCUE!

  • wow what a docile kid! ours screams if you touch or look at her

  • lol the bebys like "WTF are you doing?!?!?' XD

  • @cyndershadow67 sorry baby XD

  • Bravo, Daddy!

  • The harder you shake the baby, the more effective it is.

  • wow. do you have to wave them back and forth so fast tho?

  • nice work

  • What a good dad you are! Nice job! :-)

  • FREAKING MAGIC! And the daddy at that! Good job Dad! BTW I LOVE that you're wearing a Moby wrap!

  • this method still works with my 6 month old, only i had to find a different way to swaddle him. he knows how to escape all too easily.

  • i gess it works if you dont brush your teet

  • Aw, how precious! Harvey Karp is amazing.

  • wow!!! p.s.i love that HEEE is doing that! great job.

  • Just used this method with my baby nephew. Worked great! Thanks!

  • This is great. What a good daddy you are.

  • Wow, he's good =P

  • Oh wow, that was great! Thanks!

  • omg!!! i'm gonna try it XD

  • que lindura!

  • verry nice my boyfreind do the same ting

  • LOL!!

  • I am really looking forward to trying this out when we have our baby in December.

I would like to know more information from the doctor below why you think the swaying isn't a good idea? This method was also developed by a pediatrician?

  • That brought a quick tear to my eye.

    Just beautiful...

  • the "SHHHHH" sound simulates the placenta noise and womb noise so it is instantly calming to the baby. and the rocking appears to be similar to when the mother walks. that's my take on it anyway. Well done!

  • you da man. im so fuckin impressed

  • He's not shaking the baby! He's rocking her. It's not any more rocking than what goes on when their inside the womb. No danger whatsoever.

  • Pretty cute baby. :D 5 stars, and amazing work.

  • hes mostly moving his own body, not so much the baby...... get ur own kids if you want to teach good parenting...... the baby didnt die.

  • Amazing!!!

  • 0:47

Baby: "WTF IS HAPPENING TO ME!?!?!"

  • its not like his shaking the baby. he does it how it wants too. its his kid if it works for his its fine. dont hate becayse you didnt think of this.

  • Let me give my two cents as a licensed Pediatrician working in a busy tertiary-level, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

While I agree that the swaddling, the white noise and placing your baby on his or her side with a pacifier are all wonderful, I am concerned that the "sway" technique demonstrated in this video could cause damage to the infant in the form of retinal hemorrhages. A very young infant should never be subjected to ANY rapid decelerations. Skin to skin therapy is safer & effective.

  • AChambersMD

you sound just like a woman that said that a rockingcratle can break a babys internal organs. it is so stupid.

  • so amazing. new to fatherhood. probably gonna try this when he wakes

  • Amazing! (:

  • swinging the baby a bit fast arnt u

  • OMG AMAZING! lol

  • Wow, good job with that!

  • Awesome!

    works like magic!

  • thinking he moved the baby too fast at the end but what are the 5 S's?

  • Swaddle

    Sway/Swing

    Shush

    Suck

    Side/Stomach

  • Does swaddle mean wrapping? And suck mean giving the baby a pacifier? How about side/stomach? What does that mean?

  • Swaddle=the tight swaddle/wrapping that makes them feel like they're in the womb.

Sway - the movement and jiggling, he didn't go too fast.

Shush/sound - the SHHH right in the ear, or a white-noise like blowdryer, vacuum, sound maker.

Side/Stomach-putting the baby on their side calms them more than being on the back.

    Suck-pacifier, or finger, or whatever.

Put together, the baby sleeps. :) Read the book. It's great.

  • lol, Nice wrapping you did there. :D

  • The ground must be very interesting to look at baby.

  • This is very sweet :)

  • How wonderful is that!!! Magic touch!

  • the baby was like.. what the fuck?

  • I use the 5 S's too! That book was a godsend!!

  • another post showed how the sound of a blow dryer or vacuum cleaner (which some people appear to call 'white noise') works as well.

maybe the sound that he makes is also a type of 'white noise'?!

... and the gentle rocking is just a plus.

    amazing!

  • Can I hire this guy??

  • i like the way he wrap the baby...

  • absolutely a big help!!!

  • wow that is incredible!! I will be trying this with my super demanding 8wk old!!!

  • You never, ever, ever shake a baby, especially when it's crying! What this guy did was simply rock the baby gently and whispered, and then the baby stopped crying. Each parent has their own way of calming a baby down. After all, crying is the only form of communication that a baby has with a parent, so maybe this baby was saying, "Daddy, pick me up and cuddle me."

But you never, ever, ever shake a baby under any circumstances!

  • You really should never leave your baby on the couch or the bed. I don't know why some parents do that. Suppose that baby falls off and gets hurt; the he'd really be crying up a storm.

This guy is just simply rocking and whispering to the baby, which is OK. I have heard that gently rocking and whispering to the baby will make it stop crying.

  • soooooooooooooooooooo cute baby

  • That's incredible-- I'll be taking a class to learn this technique in a couple of days! It will be wonderful to know this "trick" for our new baby :)

  • magic!!

  • that is amazing.

  • I saw this method on the video 'Happiest Baby on the Block' I tried it at work, and now with my own baby boy... I absolutely love this method, it puts my little boy to sleep sometimes too! You perfected this calming method.

  • Wow! Amazing! And I see no "baby shaking" here... This little girl is obviously very loved.

  • Relax, my friend, this is not "shaking a baby". As for reading books, I've pretty much read them all. I refer you to "The Happiest Baby on the Block" by pediatrician Dr. Harvey Karp. That is where this calming method comes from.

Shaking a baby is usually done by unprepared parents who get overwhelmed and frustrated with a constantly crying baby and involves vigorous motion that violently whips the baby's head. This calming method can help them not get to that point. Thx for your concern.

  • You're right, never shake a baby, but I don't consider this shaking. It may seem a little fast for rocking, but it's a far cry from shaking.

There are vids of babysitters actually shaking babies (caught on hidden cameras) but I don't recommend watching them. I personally can't stomach looking at them. Poor little babies.

  • He is NOT shaking her, he is rocking her. Dr. Sears you are NOT. Read up on the proven and credible research in this field of calming newborns, because clearly you are too harsh and uninformed of a judge.

  • @Wisdom909 Your user name is very misleading.

  • Babies certainly like this sort of white noise. I find a running vacuum or hair dryer works like magic.

  • cool

  • Wow...I shall try to remember that when I have kids. :) Or I can just call you. ;)

  • oh my goodness!

    please dont drop em

  • God bless u, my brother! Bless your little one with your love always!

  • that was so F-ing instant

  • that was excellent...Damn your good.

  • you are good daddy <3 :)

  • everybody seems to be adult here so I just felt like posting a kid comment. Cool Trick!

  • Haha...Good comment

  • WOW. even cooler that the daddy did it! i love when the men nurture their children. it just warms up the mothers hearts. any suggestions on how i can get my 15 month old to stop crying every time i leave the room or put her down? she will cry until i come and pick her up again. even if its after 10-20 mins. i dont know what to do. but it is very stressfull, and i hate to hear her cry.

  • We are having the same issue with our 11 month old. She doesn't like to see mommy go! Can you blame them? After all, you are their main source of food, care, entertainment and affection... and you're leaving! I don't think they have the reasoning capacity yet to relaize that you coming back soon. Even so, we have a few ways of dealing with this that seem to be helping.

  • 1) My wife wears the baby when she gets fussy or super-attached and there are things that nee doing. A sling or moby holds little bit in a hip hug while mom does her business. Usually, little bit will get tired of being toted along and want to get down for some exploring and solo play.

    2) Don't try to sneak away. It's tempting to avoid an immediate meltdown, but in the long run it doesn't build trust. Instead, we make a big deal of mom saying "bye, bye" and then after she leaves I...

  • continually reassure her that "mommy's coming back" then we make a big deal about mommy's return. This works particularly well when mom's just going to be a away for a few seconds or minutes. Our daughter has begun to laugh and clap in anticipation of mom's return. Calling to the baby so she starts to figure out that you are near even when she can't see you also seems to help.

Just keep in mind that it won't be too long before your daughter is embarrased to be seen with you. Enjoy the love!

  • nossa,q coisa linda.........é magica?

  • This is the most incredible thing I have ever tried. I did the exact same thing and my baby stopped crying in about 2 seconds.

  • I just finished reading "The Happiest Baby on the Block". It's great to have a visual of what this looks like in practice! :)

  • wow, i will have to try this tonight. ps the ultimate baby wrap is awesome

  • its called the 5's from dr Karp he's amazing, i have his video its amazing and his book the happiest baby on the block its too, it works like in the video

  • Thank you for this wonderfull advise!

It worked exactly how you showed it.

    Best regards from Berlin.

Scheinbar in Deutschland wenig verbreitet.

  • Die buch ist jetzt übersetzt:

'Das glücklichste Baby der Welt' von Harvey Karp und Karin Wirth

I can only say that this definitely needs to be made more popular here in Germany!

  • isnt this to do with the familiarity of the womb? wrapping tight and giving an imitation blood flow. and the swaying of her movements. thats what i was taught.

  • What a great dad! So nice to see a father who can jump in and help Mom.

  • All I can say is, thank you. My daughter had her first really colicky attack tonight and I did exactly what you showed, and it worked. Wasn't sure what to do next, but it calmed her down long enough to try something else.

  • I read about this in Happiest Baby on the Block - that book saved me! It is cool to see it in practice!

  • I used this with both my boys. if you do it right it works like magic! Tight tight swaddling is key.

  • Thanx for your advise - it saved the night!

Auf deutsch: enges Wickeln ist super wichtig, dann klappt es.

  • wow thats amazing!
