Thank you for making this video! I'm moving to Talybont North next week and I found this really helpful. I didn't even think about things like only having one shelf in the fridge. :L
This is a great video! I'm coming as an international study abroad student, so it was very helpful. I'm living in Talybont South, but I would imagine Talybont North and South are quite similar? How far a walk is it from Talybont to the academic buildings? Do you feel safe walking from your accommodation to campus? My home uni is tiny and in a rural area, so I'm really nervous about coming to a city!
@maldelothiel They are similar, South rooms are a bit bigger though - so that's a plus! It depends what you're studying (some buildings are further away than others). It would take me 20 minutes to walk (I took English - which is by the Law/Humanities buildings). However lots of people cycle as there is a bike path running from Talybont and it's much quicker! My family home is in a rural area but I always felt safe in Uni, in the city and in the campus. It was a lovely, safe community! (:
@tlmi1234 House T, am I right in thinking it's a 'normal' Talybont North room, not reduced? If so your room and kitchen will be bigger than this. They're very, very nice and much more like Talybont South! (:
I thought your idea of taking the food out of their boxes for the freezer was absolute genius! Plus I'm going to Cardiff this autumn so your video was a great help! Thanks =]
Good video :) ! Do you know what are the residences for internationnal students ? They can have a room at student's residence. I really want to come to Cardiff University by the way :) !
@TiphaCU As far as I'm aware there is no separate residences for international students. They are integrated with everyone else (: Although a lot do seem to end up in Talybont Court because they have unconditional offers and get their first choice of accommodation.
Hi, I'm gonna do my Msc in Cardiff this september and i\m troubled whether i should get a dorm for a standard residential period (until June) or for full residential period (until next September).. Can you help me? what do postgraduate students in Cardiff choose?
@DCrithas Sorry for the late response! I do believe that most post grads go home for the Summer, especially if their Masters is only a one year course. Unless you are doing copious amounts of work and need to be close to the University throughout the Summer I believe a standard residential period would be fine (which takes you up to the end of exams/lectures)
Class of 2014 can't wait, what is batter the North or South Talybont Court

Are all the Talybont North ensuite reduced rooms like this?
l337z0r 10 months ago
@l337z0r Yes pretty much! Apart from as I said, on the ground floor some of the flats have extra shelves.
Taly North (normal) are quite different from this and look more like Taly South.
