@zeldafreak66 One weapon in battle is never enough go for my knife and you get shot!Vest wear isn't always convenient. I didn't have mine in it's sheath while wading through 5 ft. of flooded swamp when all you saw with a light was eyes staring at you down here in the Everglades. The only time other than a stealth kill you would be using a knife in battle would be if your gun was broken or out of ammo.
Hi I noticed that in the video there are straps to mount this knife on a vest but the one in your store does not seem to have this attachment. Does it come with the knife or can I get buy that webbing attachment from you? Please
Very good explaining and voice. Easy to follow what you are talking about and very good with the details. Thank you very much for this. Keep up the good work.
@rubberpoon Because most Gerber knives are made of 420HC and it is cheaper to make then other knives but you are right they need to make it in AUS8, D2,or S30V...
@MatriXtyle Quality man... if you take a look at knives made in china and toys made in china... Lets say like when the Red Ryder BB gun was made in the US it had metal parts like the lever, but the ones made out of the country suck and break easily... same with knives...
Why do people think that items made in USA are better? Is it because they wont break or are they made really good or what because China makes Cheap crap -.-
@rubberpoon i dont know the true resin why they chose the soft metal. but i think it might have been for the slightly better rust resistance and the ease of sharpening for the user.
Looks like a neat knife there, though I do have to agree that the price is a a little on the heavy side. I think I may wait a bit to see if someone does a destruction test on one of these. I have a Buck nighthawk and it's 420C seems to hold up well enough.
Its the Hague convention you are thinking of, and it has no mention of knives as weapons, serrated or not. Geneva convention is in concern with personel and treatment of combatents and non conbatents.
I notice that the knife you show in this video has another type of serations than the one we see at the image in your store. Which seration version would I get if I oredered the knife?
The last batch we received from Gerber have a much shorter serrated area as shown in our most recent image on our website. The knives that are currently shipping are as pictured on our website.
Just bought the LMF II Coyote Brown Survival... Now that i have seen this one ... Im kickin myself in the ass lol this knife is sick.. guess thats another 100 bux gone from my bank account lol
@haus05 I bought both this knife and the LMF Infantry knife. I have no complaints about both. I have used both and am very satisfied with them. Remember however that the difference between this knife and the LMF's is that this knife can and should only be used for combatives and fighting. The other knife you have can be used for both. Speaking from experience, you should have two types of knives. Your LMF and this knife (which again is only used for fighting).
Being designed by knife-fighting instructors, I think they found 420HC apt for tearing through cordura vests and uniforms to get at flesh. Yeah, it's not as great a utility steel, but it's not designed for camping or chopping wood.
i was handling one of these today at a store and it fills great in the hand and seems like a great competition for the kabars except it cost twice as much and has 420 hc not 1095c, and thats why im not in a hurry to get one. and its clearly being advertised as a tactical fighting knife even though it only comes partially serrated and last i checked the Geneva convention dose not allow serrated edge knifes as weapons
Excellent fixed blade for self defense. This blade is just right, not too heavy and well balance. Drop belt attachment is the best way to carry the LHR. I love this blade. Highly recommended. Five stars. Metal. =)
Demand has been high and Gerber had some issues initially keeping up with demand, but yes it is a regular stock item. If we are sold out at any time there will be more on the way.
Yes, 1095 would have been a great choice. It would not surprise me too much if some day Gerber did a S30V limited edition run like they did with the Mark IIs though which would be nice also.
so my comment was taken away.any reason for that?like i said before, there isn't much info and reactions to find about this knife.any reason for that?negative?
Comments dont appear until they are approved so sometimes it takes a few days for new comments to get approved.
Thanks for your comment.
As far as lack of coverage on blade/knifeforums I think Gerber sometimes gets a bad rap due to some of its lower end products. We should be shipping the LHRs very soon and I think they will get a fair amount of coverage once people get there hands on them.
yes i noticed that after i already posted my frustrated comment.sorry for that.
I also read about the negative comments on bladeforums.dont know.not all Gerber products are cheap or low quality.I wonder if the finger groove is uncomfortable.mostof the time i pick knives without them
i love the serration on that one

Good knife and all except for the steel they can't make it with AUS8, S30V, or atleast 1055 Carbon?

@ZuluComander Out in the field, it's either you or your enemy. If you only had a serrated knife, you'd use it to defend yourself too.

@ZuluComander Actually the M7 bayonet has serrations and is issued to the USMC.

so wouldn't 1095 been more appropriate?
yes higher maintenance but stronger and much beter edge retention....

cool.. shame tho'. still a good knife for the money; i love the shape, and the handle looks extra comfy! and the sheath...!!
