Saying that QFD does not fit into the process of innovation is shortsighted. The answer is to use the Kano model and strategy to identify features that would "delight" the customer. At that point, you would include those features in the QFD process. Just like many of the tools used in Six Sigma or Lean, it's just that, a tool. You have to know how to use it within the context of the situation.
House of Qualities matrix is used by many large successful companies, of course you cant include every customer need into it but I don't understand why it is not a good tool for innovation. Direct customer inputs using "craft" production or "lean"?
