You do really nice work, i have been watching your videos learning what your doing, I'm getting ready to build my own pond in NY this last video was really nice because it explains more of what your doing rather then just dirt being pushed around.
There's a guy in Australia who really goes in depth about the whole process you should check it out here is the link.
its called harvesting water the permculture way do a search on youtube for some reason i cant post a link
Do your dams have to be engineered and inspected as you build them? A lot of talk about that lately with the poorly built farm levees in Calif. Just think, 50 years from now you could be in the news when 10,000 CY of mud wipes out that new subdivision.
Do you ever find old stuff in the dirt and collect it? Thats what my friend does when he finds things while hes diggin' pretty cool collection of stuff.
Great to see how it all starts out and how you decide what you need to do. Thanks for the video. I hope you show more of the progress instead of showing the finished product. It is nice to see the progress of any project.
@letsdig18 Alright cool. And yeah, fill is common sense. But when I hear "cut" its hard to relate that word to digging.. but I know its all experience.
btw do you ever hit rocks? looks like all you dig in is sand and clay

When you say "Cut", is that like how deep your going to go?
Also I really wish you would have went more in depth on this whole grade measuring thing.. seems like useful info.
