first of all. Maldini and Materazzi are different defenders. Maldini can attack on the dribble and most of Materazzi's goals came from headers off of set plays. Maldini is by far the best outside back we have had in a while. I thought Grosso would develop into one as well but he fell off. Materazzi had a great world cup. but over all is seen as a clown. Paolo had a career of success. no comparison.
