I've read the report, and it doesn't say how the Officer came to be in Mr. Gates house. I doubt that he was invited. It does say right at the beginning, the Officer believed he was speaking to the resident of the home. Verbal proof was not enough for the Officer, or Mr. Gates, as to the identity of the other person. Gates provided further proof, the Officer refuse to identify himself. Then the Officer arrested Gates for giving the Officer a lecture on the front porch of his private property.

OK, so let me see if I have this straight.

If a white person sees two black men breaking down the front door of a house and assumes some shenanigans are afoot it's racism and stereotyping.

If a black person sees a white police officer arrest a black man and assumes there is racial profiling or a racist component to the arrest, it's not racism or stereotypes, but an understandable sensitivity based upon the history of the problem.
