If you get a skill, its master level is 10. If your skill is 5+, you can use the book. If it works, the master level will become 20. When you have put 25 sp on it, you can use the level 30 mastery book, if it works, you can add points on it till 30.
No but its just annoying to get a new skillbook the whole time you have to hunt it or to buy it and some skillbooks are very hard to get like Sharp Eyes 30 o.0
Yeah, i was really disappointed too when I learned that it didn't get your skill to 20 or w/e. I always thought it got the skill to that skill level, because when 4th job was released, there was lvl 190's, making an unfair advantage because they would only have like 10 lvl's of skill points to put in.
No depending on the book like for example like my book hurricane 20: what that mean is that it lets me add points past lvl 10 but in order to use and skill book 20 u have to have the skill at lvl 5. With out the book u can only get ur skills to lvl 10 but with skill book 20 it lets u upgrade ur skill to 20 but after u use the book and if it works u can add more points to that skill but it doesnt give u no skill points.

Why doesn't the level go up? I just used a Venom skill book and my level is still at 5... I used three actually. Expensive. I just don't get it.

it has to work like light up and scroll not blow up and if that happens ur mastery will go up so when u lvl up u can make the lvl higher.
if it works it will allow u to add more points past lvl 10 thats the point....
