I saw him in Jekyll & Hyde in LA before it went to Broadway! My Aunt and I just looked at each other wide mouthed when we saw him appear onstage...WOW! Hunk! And, talented!
He floored me. I am ready for psychiatric therapy sessions for thinking I could sing. Haha. Gosh, this was totally impressive and beyond description. Truly awe inspiring performance. Bravo!
Incredible. Incredible. The best of the best rendition. You get the meaning, have the momentum. It's epic. You are SO right for this. Brilliant. I'm standing and apploauding in my head. Unforgettable.
So many others think of it as a nice ballad and it's such a shame. The song is too big for most everyong.
He is good. But an absolute beginner compared to the GOD that is Anthony Warlow. Dont feel bad Robert. Warlow is the best voice to ever live on our planet...
Anthony Warlow, Robert Cuccioli, Erik Santos, Michael Santos, Rob Evan, Michael Ball, and David Hasselhoff...all good. I like Rob Evan and Robert Cuccioli, particularly. but that's just me.
@jg220611 I have heard santos, he's crap, his voice is too modern and he is foreign. To sing this song properly you have to be able to do an american/english accent. Anthony Warlow, Rob Evan and Robert Cuccioli are way better than Santos.
Saw him live when Jekyll & Hyde was on Broadway. Amazing voice - I've heard all the Jekyll & Hyde soundtracks and still think the original Broadway cast is the best. But, that's just me. LOL
Still don't know who I like more. Anthony Warlow or Robert Cuccioli. They are both amazing!! This is one of the most beautiful musical songs ever written.
I've seen him perform, and it was even more heartrending the the play "Joseph..." You should see him in full costume, fully in the part. It's beautiful.
Robert is so Handsome and gives me goosebumps when he sings. He has the most fantastic voice I have ever heard. He was so increditable in Jekyll & Hyde.
no joke- this guy is the guest artist in our production of the rock musical 2 gentlemen of Verona, and he is freakin amazing, everyone's gonna get quality time with him (and probably autographed memorobilia as well), its amazing!!!!!!
You know I can't imagine what it takes to be able to do that on the drop of a dime, with people coming from all over the country to see you perform this 8 times a week.
And lets not forget Frank Wildhorn. The man is simply touched by God when it comes to composing music.
I saw the Cooch in this role(s) way back 13 or so years ago. I've heard many talented male vocalists sing live -- Brian Stokes Mitchell, Michael Ball, George Hearn, Raul Esparza, Norm Lewis -- and, while they all have beautiful voices, I have to say that Cuccioli's voice is an unmatched sensation; it rings like a victory bell. He has the sort of raw, iconoclastic voice that could sing the phone-book and make it sound like a three-act-play in song.
I have to agree with theatredrok that he does have an odd pronunciation of some vowels, but there are two things in which he excels. The first is sustain, and the second is that he makes the song his own. In that sense he is a powerful and captivating vocalist. I don't know if I like the "squeaks" which pepper almost every measure after he reaches forte. One or two would be OK, but every phrase?
@889fgb Rosie is actually responsible for bringing a lot of Broadway shows on her show and introducing many Americans to musical theater. She really helped the Broadway community with free promotion. She deserves praise for that.
Yes, I am serious...as a vocal performance major and diction TA, I think I know what I am talking about. I am assuming by your response that you have some background in singing so I will use vocal terms as well as IPA, that I assume you understand. His vowels seem strange because he uses to much of an [a] formation. "When all I've done," he actually sings [dan]...one, he sings [wan]...even his test is not right...he mixes the open and closed "e" and makes it sound awkward.
I was listening to this while doing chores and was able sat now and watch the video. Can I say that the way he opens his mouth to enunciate the vowels was just sooo right?!! Technically correct, he was passionate in his singing! Wow, Robert!
I love Anthony Warlow's version. Warlow is my most favorite male singer. But in fairness to Cuccioli, he did amazingly well. I love his emotions and delivery.
I saw the original cast on Broadway. He was incredible. Alan was amazing too, but with how demanding this role was, I really thought Robert should have won the Tony.
I could watch him all day. He looks exactly like my father did. My friends would say, OMG, that's your father? He was that handsome and Italian to boot. Makes me miss him more....
to anyone who says this guy sucks, I challenge you to post a video of you singing this song. You can't just say "this guy is horrible!" without stating some level of evidence. Point out some parts where he sucks and say why, don't just bash him.
I personally think he's fantastic and he's my favorite actor to play this role. Though I would have liked if he moved around more.
Does anybody knows that this song was plagiarized from Silvio Berlusconi, (actual italian leader), for the official anthem of his party? Search for "Inno Forza Italia".

Technically no. He was the first Broadway Jekyll but there were two concept albums before that plus a Houston run and a national tour before he was known as Jekyll and Hyde. Colm Wilkinson (original Valjean from Les Miserables) is technically the original, followed by Anthony Warlow who many believe sang this song better. However I believe Cuccioli is a better Jekyll.

Untrained singers sing "When all I've doan." Cuccioli sings "When all I've done."
Untrained singers sing "Becomes moin." Cuccioli sings "Becomes mine."
Untrained singers sing "My final taaaste." Cuccioli sings "My final test."
And the amount of passion and grit he puts into this is unmatched.
