  • is this router as good as the DGL 4500 for gaming?

  • Comment removed

  • This dude is paid to read a fucking prompt! D-Link sucks! The dir 655 has no signal emission on the middle antenna and I would imagine the same thing with the dir-855. Fuck D-link! I won't be buying this shit anymore!

  • @thecanadianhacker this is supposed to be by far the best router.. what could be better than this? and you probably just had a defective router.

  • @Toshiogo1 Linksys E4200 Is better then D-Link 855? Is it ? Its a question .

  • @farshad040 lol sorry but get lost linksys is the mose terrible company ... netgear is better but D-link of course is the best.. (expensive) !!

  • @farshad040 most*

  • this the best router of DLINK trust me. stick to it buy it^_^

  • Screen shuts off after a minute and there's no way to disable that so... pointless for displaying Transmit/Recieve stats. Unit runs hot. First thing I do to all my dlink equipment is take them out of the plastic case so I can mount a huge heat sink to their VSLI chip. Gigabit hub not switch. Only 4 ports. Three antennas mean you have to buy 3 larger antennas to extend your range, not one. Generally good firmware, can support lots of torrents.

  • I'm very pleased with D-Link products. My older wireless router was the DIR-635 which i have used for many years without any problems. The only thing was it does not have dual band and gigabit ports. Now i have the DIR-855 and that thing is fast. The best router i have ever bought. Keep in mind that with routers you really need to have an updated firmware on your router for bug fixes and added functions. D-Link DIR-855 the TOP of the LINE router. I recommend it to anyone...

  • Oh Em gee!

It's Logan, haven't seen him for a long time =(.

I guess he quit Tiger Direct.

Ah well, Albert and Bauer duo is okay..

  • 300$ expensive shit better i buy video card

  • Do you need a modem for this? If so what do you call routers that are also modems and do d-link do them?

  • @UltimateHibz we need to understand networking...modem is the one who modulates the signal

  • hey, what is a wlan port? is it from the wired modem? i only have the cable wire to connect to, i dont have the lwan cable, can someone help please?

  • @Guerrilla109 wlan is the port where you connect your modem . so- you have your modem. whether it me DSL or cable. on the back of the modem you'll have an ethernet port, plug in your ethernet cable ( it looks like a wider phone cable) to the modem and the other end into the wlan port. hope that helped.

  • This works at 600 mbps no?

    2x300mbps

  • so is this better then the gaming one ? wats the dif ???

  • no bro the gaming router is way better with its better qos. that one has better gaming, voip capabilities. but this is a xtreme series like the gaming. xtreme are like the premium series.

  • This one can simultaneously broadcast 5ghz and 2.4 ghz. Whereas the Gaming one can only broadcast one at a time.

  • The gaming one since it has 802.11n when this one only has 802.11g. Theres another one that has 802.11n by D-Link.

  • i miss logan

  • I want one!!! So how far can the range go with 100% because if I have it in my loft (yes the room up there) and have a WiFi device on ground floor???

  • shareport...

  • YOU CAN NOT PLUG IN A HARDDISK FOR MEDIASHARING!

The USB is only for backup your personal settings and configurations on a usb or HD.

  • With the DIR-825 u can use hard disk for mediasharing. Its the same without the display and 2 antenas vs the 3 u get in the DIR-855

my opinion is 825 is better

  • this one had probs so they had a recall. 825 has a similar problem and it was recalled too. i am thinking of upgrading 655 which 1month old no probs.

  • You can as of a firmware update released 28/11/2008.

  • You can not only connect a Hard Drive but also a USB 3G modem as well as WCN

  • how much

  • Why wouldnt this work with gaming? I dont understand why you need to pick a specific gaming version...

  • The price ranges from $270 to nearly $300, very expensive wireless N (draft 2.0) route comparing to many others. D-link also has DIR-65, a very good once, but only costs $100.

  • i have that one and works flawlessly, u can do so much with it, I highly recommend the dir655, but this one does have better antennas, but i guess u can buy them online and switch them up

  • Wow, what a POS review if you call this a review. A good review would be testing the router out and giving us numbers and comparison.

    What a waste 4 mins.

  • @asia911 Agree

  • This "review" sucks. It's all just sales talk about pre-N technology. What I want to know is how the switch performance is and the WAN/LAN throughput. Also, if there are any issues with running 802.11g on it. None of these questions were answered.

  • this is a very nice router but mine didnt come with the lcd though but its very very very nice :D better than netgear.

  • Never buy from TigerDirect. Long ago, I buyed an ATI X850XT PE (graphic card) from Amazon, and they (TigerDirect) shipped me an ATI X850XT, not the "Platinum Edition" ! And they charged me as PE edition, it was over USD$ 800 back that time, and I never got my money back! TigerDirect? NO THANKS!

  • sWErVU2 yeah support wpa & wpa2

  • THis video you make alot of sence i would buy it because you give me the core information but never giving the security infomation like WEP,WAP,WAP2

  • @sWErVU2 it's WPA and WPA2 not WAP and of course it has it if G had it

  • you guys should be on cable TV...
