maner200... You are a "BABUZE" fucken idiot. Just as stupid as most dumb fucks (in the early 80's) who did not know how much power a turbo v6 could produce and yank out the v6 to drop in a v8thinking that the v8 had more power.
nice man wats that thing run......and if anybody has any tips for me i have a 3.5 inch maf and a gen 2 translator ....and its been givin my dad probelms it will cut out at 10 lb of boost wen he has it set for 26 to 30 lb of boost if u kno wat the prob is msg me plz.......
The best it ever ran in my hands was 11.95 on slicks and C16. Never did get a good tune on race gas. Also I had a non-lockup converter and only trapped 117 on that run. Whenever I had cutout with the bigger MAF and translator it was from incorrect timing, too much or too little. There was always a sweet spot for whatever gas I was running. Also, it may sound obvious, but make sure your spark plugs are gapped really tight when running that much boost.
Back in 1984, I had a chance to buy a Buick Grand national or a Monte Carlo SS. Well, I got the SS cause my friend was going to get a GN. We went to the tracks and raced(Both cars straight from the dealer, bone stock). I got smoked every race. Much respect given to the Grand national owners.More respect to GNX owners LOL!!!
why do the bystanders try not to look at the car? white guys are the definition of hater. the car is beautiful, the car is fast, the car rocks! the guy with the dumb look tries so hard to to recognize..
It's funny how many people say that. That is Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The end is about 4' higher than than the starting line, then there's a pretty good uphill run to help slow down the car. It's just an optical illusion.
no it doesn't the commodore has a smaller motor a 3.3 liter v6 or a 5.0 v8. That gn has a turbo charged 3.8 liter v6. The commodore's motor is based off the 3.8 liter but it is not the same thing.
That'ed be a hard point to argue concidering the GN's were turbocharged... Dad has a Roush Stage 3 and an 87 Buick GN, both original owner, both are fun as hell.
Well good point, your dads mustang is either a aluminum block or supercharged not sure which, and the GNs are 3.8 v6 iron block,Mustangs could never make good power out the box like most GM vehicles
it was and still is one of the fastest, i think top 3 stock engines ever, at least by GM and/or domestic cars. Nothings beats a full framed GM muscle.
Word. The GN and Turbo T were so f*ing bad, Chevrolet applied all the pressure for Buick to quit making them; both cars owned the Corvette during those years and Chevy wouldn't stand for that. They're absolute monsters and just a delight to drive. You'll see them fetching 6 figures in another 15 years.
I drove a Grand National...actually it was a Buick Regal T-Type with all the Grand National upgrades...very rare...and lemme tell you lol...it had to be one of the fastest cars of its time...and it can still rip most of todays cars too! And that's stock!
Buick grand national and a ford mustang, my 2 fav cars, i'd take a gn over a mustang though, this race is the reason y :P
