  • 6 People think its their business.

  • Man I would go out and buy this. !! Didn't realise it was you.!! Brilliant.

  • The Blues makes me happy. I love the soul you can connect to. Everyday, I have the blues.

  • Who is this? 'Cause it's not Memphis Slim or Otis Spann

  • nice voice, nice playing...real old school!

  • Great voice!

  • wow

  • Damn, it's as if I'm drowning in thirst and at arms length I feel a friends hand upon my shoulder and he puts a bottle of water to my lips. That one long draught fulfilled all those good things that Providence could've ever offered.

  • wow

  • this is amazing, keep playing - i'll keep listening. good to know some people still like this music.

  • ohhh shit !! i just jammed to this on my les paul ! that shit was insane !

  • this is good man, real good.

  • whos this?

  • Boogieman145 likes Otis Spann .. Every man stand on another mans shoulders.

But then there are GIANTS like Otis that lay down a groove so deep and so wide you can fall out of it..

  • man this is incredible, this should be a record!

  • i'm feeling sad.. blues can't cheer me up, they're feeling the same thing.

  • It isnt supposed to. But isnt it nice that somebody has put to words the same feeling that u have=) Im not talking about my humble clip here, but the blues in general.

  • @stoelefj

No music in the world other than the blues makes me so happy

  • @stoelefj Blues ain` t nothing but a good man feeling bad .......

  • @stoelefj blues is life put into rhythm. I mean life just like blues can be sad but it's still possible to find find beauty in all that sadness. Listing to the blues is saying that "no matter what...life is worth living"

  • @Po0pmail

One of the best clips of this song - just loved it.

  • Love it! This is the way this song should be played!!

  • amazing

  • i always thought this was an uncoverable song, you gave me goose bumps

  • THIS IS AMAZING.

  • dang man! this is so good! you play with such easiness just like otis did

  • congrats and thanks man!!!

  • Who is this? Great song!

  • its me.. thanks... recorded it a long time ago hhe

  • only just saw ur comment and went onto your page. You've got some great recordings on there! Great voice :)

  • does ANYONE have the sheet music or score for Spann's version?? I'd really like to learn this

  • Great cover! Amazing song.

  • its in muddy walters basememt

  • My comment was supposed to be in reply to aleeeks333's question, but youtube seems to have posted it to the author of the video (who, obviously!, already knows the chords to the tune!).

  • where is that spann and cotton photo from? it says getty images but i can't find it on the site. anyone have it?

  • i dont know man but its a great fucking photo

  • This is very cool! Great piano! Like it a lot!

  • anyone know where to find the chords for Otis Spann's verison of this? Pardon my musical ear! I get C - E7 - F - Fm, but theeeeen? help needed :b

    btw your interpretation rocks! =P

  • After the chords which you've got comes: C - A7 - D7 - G7 - C - F7 - C - G+

Otis will often play what's essentially a minor solo over major chords (especially with Muddy) -- it makes his playing particularly tricky to mimic. In the video of Otis, the bassist is a bit out of tune, so the chords are appropriately vague.

  • Thanks : )

  • pardon me sir i didnot fully read your comment i love this song you have a great tallent

  • to stoelefj steve mening steve freud stve being the man that is singing this song

  • well, im sure steve sing this too, but this is me playing and singing.=) And my name is Oyvind. This is old stuff tho =)

  • So great and sweet. Congratulations!!

  • I feel grateful. You are a sensitive piano player and congratulations for your truly singing.

  • bravo sir, i thoroughly enjoyed that :)

  • In some version, Jimmy Witherspoon says:

    "But I'm three time seven.

    That makes twenty one."

Something like that. Could you please confirm. I don't understand why so many versions available. Thank you very much.

  • I havent heard his version, so I dont know those lyrics. Though Ive head some other original verses.

  • I first heard that line in Freddy King's version, but it is in a Jimmy Witherspoon version as well.

  • Where Can I get the sheetmusic to THIS?????

  • I can write for you any sheet music

  • This is awesome. This is one of your best vids, awesome playing, great singing.

  • Thnx.. I love this song. This was just when I started to practice singing. So I can do it a little better now I guess. Ill make an acoustic-piano version of this one of the next days:)

  • Otis Spann and Memphis Slim where the two best "Chicago Blues" pianists ever, but don't fortget they where also terrific blues singers and blues songwriters. It's non sense to tell who wws better. They both had a personal style and very intense feel.Memphis Slim had the fortune of a long life, unfortunately not Otis.

  • I was Sunnyland's guitar player for 19 years, and I really think this captures the feeling of the blues. Thank you!!

  • Steve, certainly you were in good hands with Sunnyland to capture the true roots of blues...Sunnyland with Memphis Slim remain still today the both best blues piano players.

Thanks to your talent, you were very lucky to work with him a long time and in this way, you could keep such a big musical inheritance from him.

  • Otis Spann has been my musical idol since I first played a tune, and Memphis Slim was a close second. I heard that, when he was young, Otis would sleep in the back of Sunnyland Slim's car, because he had nowhere else to go..

  • Hi, blueguitar60, that's awesome. Are you Steve Freund?

  • That should have been blueguitar69. Don't want to mix up our blueguitars, now, do we?

  • yup

    who are you??

  • spoke offline so now u know.

    anyone else following this thread?
