@AllieEdwards71 I'm a Pentax guy, but I'm pretty sure it will work with the canon mounts, both digital and 35mm. As long as the mounts are the same it should work.
@jonnithundahhhh to the best of my knowledge the lens' image circle is for a 35mm lens. It all comes down to the mount. If the mount works, I don't know why this lens wouldn't work on a 35mm slr.
@liukaitc1988 Sigma used to make this lens for Quantaray but not any more. I am absolutely certain that this is made by Tamron. If you look at the lens data when you have the photo in your computer it says Tamron.
@nilab1022@nilab1022 The lens hood came with the lens. I unfortunately don't know where this exact lens hood could be bought. However, the #RHAF72 from tamron looks to be identical. I'm not sure though. Do a search at Adorama.com
I've had this lens for about 4 years and it has worked for me. I'm not a photographer by any means but I use it quite a bit for my daughters soccer games. There are times it doesn't want to focus, but overall I'm happy with it. I'd LOVE to get some larger, nicer quality lenses, but not yet. Like you said, for the money, it's not bad. Thanks for the tutorial...I actually didn't realize about the manual aperture setting.
@kingdomgirl08 Depending on your needs the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 can be great for soccer games. It is pretty sharp and pretty clear. If you have a camera with at least 10-12 mp you can crop fairly well into it to make up for the lost 100mm.
The fringing seems to happen alot on many lenses and it does overly bother me because photoshop can clear it up and that bird in the background i'd use content heal and remove it.
@Timsalt3100 Agreed. The lens simply tends to fringe due to the not as high quality glass. I was just showing people that it does indeed fringe in high contrast situations.
@EquusDux I don't know that there is that big of a difference. I've seen photos from both and they are comparable. My gut says Tamron but like I said, I don't know there is that much of a difference.
I used this lens on my 35mm Canon Rebel GII. Is it compatible with digital Canon's also?

does it autofocus on the nikon d3100?

@579093 I don't see why it wouldn't. If you can get it in a Nikon mount then it will autofocus on the d3100

@579093 No it doesn't auto focus on the D3100. The D3100 doesn't have a built in AF motor and neither does this lens.
