That advice sounds almost like a Zen Buddhism concept. No disrespect meant. I took Tai Chi-Chuan, or something like that. It was Tai Chi and they always gave us advice like that. Advice that sounds really foreign at first but, once you accomplish it, is actually easier to practice than Western advice;
Yes! Great point, as all the skills in the world matter not if you are lost in thought. Common sense is your 1st line of defense, yet many live in the Pandora's box of the senses & so by default are left near defenseless. The mind Does matter allot, yet it's power is useless if you are subject to the winds of whimsical thought. "to be there" means - To be objectively aware! Situational awareness is a martial skill in & of itself, & meditation is the means to sharpen this skill of the mind .
