  • i just recently bought a 94 6.5....ummm how did u get to to smoke haha? mods?

  • my 5.9 smoked more

  • whats the MPG's?

  • hey how did u get so much black smoke i cant get ne out of mine???

  • @shadowboy696979 put injectors in your truck,and it depends on the year,i had a 95 2500 with the 6.5,i had like 40hp injectors,a 3in DP,to a 4in straight pipe,and a chip from heath diesel performance,and a custom intake with a custom boost switch on the turbo,i was running about 25-27lbs of boost..

  • what did you do to get it to blow black?

  • i bought a 5 inch miter cut stack today for my truck lol i get it put on next week. do you have the stock down pipe or is it a true 3 inch?

  • @tyler111991

Downpipe is stock, I used a universal Stack kit but needed a 2.75-3 inch reducer, the universal assembly goes from-3-4 and flares out to 5 inch to accept the 5 inch Stack

I bought it from "thechromeroom" on ebay.

  • @JohnFromSpace

im getting it put on tomorrow if i have the chance. im just going to run 4 inch from the downpipe and the shop is going to make me an adapter from the 4 inch to the 5 inch stack. i dk if i will need a bracket or anything to attach the stack to the bed though.. but as soon as i get it done i will def post a vid

  • damn man that stack looks good! im thinking about putting one on mine

  • @tyler111991

Go for it man! Check out my other video just search

    "6.5 Smoke Stack Tour Cam"

    Sounds like a semi Truck!

  • @JohnFromSpace haha yea it does sound like a semi. my truck does not really smoke as much at yours though

  • @tyler111991

So are you getting a stack kit?

  • stacks are too small

  • @dodgedude101

I think a 5 inch stack is just fine on a standard 8 foot bed truck. Now if you have a dually crewcab then I think stacks bigger then 5 inches look badass!

  • @JohnFromSpace .....those dont look like 5" stacks they look like 4's...my 96 1 ton dually cummsn has 6" stacks 5" striaght pipe

  • @dodgedude101

Their 5's If you watch my walkaround video you'll see them at a much better angle.

  • @JohnFromSpace

If you wan't a car deep into the 12's or 11's you're going to have to invest in a good transmission build.

If your intentions are mid to low 13's-high 12's Supercharged gets the job done and the stock Tranny might even hold up. It has for me.

The weak lnk on these cars is the transmissions I've seen stock blocks on these motors in the 10's

  • I'm thinking of buying a 1996 GMC 3500 with a 6.5 diesel. I would be towing with it, mostly 12,000 lb cattle trailer. Do you think I would have problems with the engine?

  • @jtm3152

Is it going to be a ranch only truck? If your going to take it on the freeway and up hills then the 6.5 wont cut it. Love the truck but thats the reality.

Your better bet is a Cummins when it comes to a load that heavy or a Duramax if you want to stick to a gm brand.

  • @jtm3152......the 6.5's are good motors is just you gotta look after them...oil changes an it'll last for ever....my 95 has 520 000km on the motor an it runs like a charm.....i took the electronic fuel pump off an put a machanical one off a 93 6.5 an then put 50hp injectors an 3inch straight pipe on it an i pull a 12 000pd cattle trailer in whick most of the time i just use my 96 1 ton cummins

  • Is this a turbo or no?

  • @hockeyguitar77

Yeah it has a turbo, youtube search "6.5 smoke stack tour cam" thats another video I have up and the Turbo whistle in that video sounds just like a semitruck.

  • cool video man

check out my 6.5 video in my profile

  • im sorry but 6.5's have to be the worst sounding diesels ever put in a pick-up. theyre pretty reliable but damn it sounds like theres bolts and nuts rattling around in the oil pan

  • @12vctdpower

    I like it =)

  • @12vctdpower THAT MAKES EM SOUND GOOD lol jus my oppinion

  • awsome truck man love it,idk where u are but i can't find a 6.5 chevy like yours

that clean in massachusetts.I thought about a cummins, but im a GM fan at heart,

i could never stray away from chevy and gmc.Are those worth it if i were to get

one as my first truck?and how much for stacks like that one?

  • @rockstardrinker95

The Cummins is a more powerful truck but if your loyalties are with GM and your not going to use this truck to pull a 10,000 pound trailer then this is a great first truck.

A single stack kit is about $800 and a Dual stack kit is $1000. Its easy to do youself as long as you can get hold of a 5 inch hole saw.

  • @JohnFromSpace alright ill probably get one soon if i can find one..

but ill do a custom exhaust set-up to be different than all the people with stacks.

  • @rockstardrinker95 btw since he never answered ur price u can usually pick a good one up for 6k or so depends on where u shop and what you want

  • nice rig man

  • @gmc2500diesel

    Thanks bud

  • I'd like to see a video of this thing "jaking"- my friend has a 93, and if you drop it in 2 when doing around 40, it sounds like it has a jake brake... then you shift it into first... daggonn... hhaa i'd like to hear one with a stack... gotta sound sweet

  • i got the same damn truck how do i make it smoke like that!!!!!!! i dont no shit about these trucks!!! help me

  • I think these 6.5s are more mechanical and you can adjust the fuel pump.

  • @BIGBILL105 Nope only the 92s and 93s are mechanical 94-up are computerized

  • Then you should send it to me

  • but some new bigger injectors in it, that should do it, that is how my bro did it to his 01 24v cummins.

  • you gotta chip it

  • say I have a 6.2 or 6.5 chevy diesel, will simple things such as 'stacks help improve the amount of black smoke I can blow out? I really want to increase the smoke but not with the likes of switches or bigger injectors...

  • Think of a stack as an exhaust. Its pretty much just for looks and will not make it smoke more.

  • you are very dumb i am sorry but exhaust will not get more fuel to the motor

  • no, dick for brains, i was talking about having some type of collector halfway up the stack which at idle will restrict a percentage of the exhaust gas, then once you give it some shit it'll blow it out in a cloud of smoke

  • all that will do is restrict air flow

  • I love how youtube haters never have videos of their own up. Why watch stuff you dont like? Is your life that pathetic? Shits weak.

  • yo ass got roased!!! ha!!! and by the way, glowplugs dont make a diesel smoke dumbass

  • YEA SMOKE!!!! thts how the chevy guys roll i wish my 6.2 would do tht

  • crank up the ip on it

  • man i wish my 6.5 sounded like that

my mom got pissed at me cuz i cut off half of the exausht hahaha

  • Time to put in a smoke stack =)

Tell your mom its a healthy hobby and its better then doing drugs =)

  • haha good point

  • It's amazing how similar the 7.3 IDI and 6.5T sound. I have a '94 IDI turbo with 5" stacks on it, sounds almost exactly like your truck.

  • I love how the older Diesel Trucks sound. You can barely hear the new ones rattle now. You should post up some pics man. There can never be enough older stacked trucks here on youtube =)

  • I tried to post a couple pics but youtube doesn't seem to like letting you post links...

  • Got any vids?

  • Nope...tried to take a video with my phone, and it was terrible. Nothing else to take videos with at the moment.

My cardomain ID is 87turbobird, but I haven't updated my truck's page in a few months so there isn't much to see there at the moment.

  • clank...clank...clank...yup its a 6.5. cant mistake that sound. badass soundin truck man

  • As silly as it sounds that was basically the selling point for me. I always loved the diesel sound, even as a little kid.

    I was actually shopping for a GMC with a 4.3 V6 or 4.8 V8 because I wanted 20 Miles per Gallon freeway.

Then I found this truck for a good price and bought it =)This thing has pulled off 22 MPG on long road trips.

  • If a 6.5 has over 100,000 miles on the stock injectors they get a loud intermittent clack sound. If you you use new "matched" injectors they are some of the quietest diesels of the 1990's. My boss has a 2007 5.9 Cummins that is silent at idle but REALLY clacky at full throttle, the 6.5 has a loud idle but there is no "diesel" sound while cruising

  • mmmm 6.5. it sounds exactly like my truck too.

  • beautiful!!

  • hehe cool!

sounds like it can be loud when you step on the gas.

  • The cam doesnt do it justice. Its loud =P
